Nice numbers. It's great he's turned it around after a bad start.

Got into their bullpen early, and they're on their second reliever. It's probably a non-factor with how Penny is going this season though.

The rotation is abysmal after Penny and Lowe.

On a side note, the Padres completely own the Dodgers. 19-9 record dating back to last season.

Hopefully Kouz will start to turn it on. I really think they are going to need to get some RBI's from him down the stretch. 3rd base has been such a disaster for us for so long.

Anyone miss Bochy yet? Can you even tell he is gone?

Definitely. That way the Padres don't panic and trade for a 2nd basemen who has never played 3rd (Todd Walker).

Not really. I really doubt Bochy would've let Kouzmanoff play out through his slump nor do I think when Headley was called up that Headley would get as many starts as he did. Bochy's a good manager, but sometimes he made some questionable decisions (i.e. playing Ojeda in LF instead of Nady).

Agreed. I really liked Bochy as a manager, but his reluctance to give young players a shot was frustrating.

I think with Bochy doing this had a part in the Padres not developing position players worth while. Once Nady hit a slump, he'd be benched a few games afterwards and get limited playing time (and a guy with a swing like his, that does nothing to benefit him). Now that Nady is playing full time and allowed to work through his hitting problems, he's doing quite well in Pittsburgh (.283, 13 HR, 46 RBI). He's even outperforming Jason Bay (.265, 12 HR, 50 RBI). Heck, if Rey Ordonez didn't chicken out in 2004 during ST, who knows what would've happened to Khalil. One thing is for sure Bochy got over that by playing Barfield over Bellhorn last year (even though Barfield suddenly disappeared towards the end of the season I think).

I think you're right on Barfield. It seems to me Bellhorn started a few key playoff games over Barfield.

Cruz and Blum come through for the Padres to net another series win for them. Both Penny and Peavy had great outings, but it came down to the twelfth inning before former-Padre Brett Tomko gave up RBI doubles to Cruz and Blum.

Between the great pitching and abysmal offense of both teams, I was not sure if last nights game would ever end.
