a little over half the runners who steal bases against the padres don't score. Like Maddux says...hardly ever does a runner steal a base comes around to score..thats why Maddux has told the padres pitchers to not hold runners on base but, rather concentrate on the batter instead.

I don't think that's exactly what he said. And are you honestly going to pass the not holding runners on base thing as not a big deal or even a positive?

Holding a runner, does one nice thing, it keeps the double play ball a reality and with guys like Maddux and Wells allows them to get out of innings with fewer pitches, which is a good thing.

Yes here read for yourself..I could careless. Oh yes I do think the padres pitchers should hold onto runners but, hey if they don't score then I don't care about them stealing bases.

Heres a quote from Chris Young

"It's something Greg [Maddux] and I talked about in Spring Training. ... He gave me a stat that less than 20 percent of stolen bases lead to runs and if you have a pretty low opponent's batting average," Young said. "Statistically, you're better off taking your chances getting the hitter out than worrying about the guys stealing bases."
and heres another link about stealing bases hardly matter.

Sorry It is what it is

Yeah it is what it is, excuses for being so crappy at holding runners. It's called spin.

Damn, buzz-sawed by the Orioles' Guthrie today.

Padres certainly love to have rubber match games...

and they will take 2 games out of 3 once again, but another series for the Pads is what I am calling.

Look at the bright side, at least someone pulled a Pacman and made it rain.

It doesn't help that the offense only scored 4 runs.

Maybe we should look at getting Milton Bradley and having him play LF...

Well, there goes the Bradley idea in LF. Just picked up by the Royals.

Anyways, Brocail is on the DL and Royce Ring has been recalled.

                              Wow. Nice to hear.

I'd rather have him in LF than Sledge/Cruz. I think he's a pretty good player despite his attitude. Cruz is a nice 4th outfielder and Sledge is also a decent backup, but neither should be starting everyday.
