He shouldn't be thrilled...he is a very good every day player...
are they seriously thinking about making him a backup??

If so, I am going to have to have another "can i really still be a cubs' fan" talk with myself...it almost gets harder each and every year and with each press release.

I agree this is BS. He was one of their MVP's last year. There needs to be a spot for him everyday.

I am also hearing more and more rumors of Pie going just for Roberts. If so this whole org can suck it. Baltimore badly wants to rid themselves of this guy, and the Cubs are going to be stupid enough to give them their #1 prospect. I will puke.

Considering what the Mets gave up for Santana, why the hell didn't we try to get him? Winning is second to making money, and us fans who invest time and money into the team get **** on.

I too question why I like this team, and that won't change even if we get Roberts w/o giving up Pie. They could do so much more like other teams, but they don't, and this is all going on with the number 100 being laughed at. What a joke.

Well, I think we all remember the whole Patterson fiasco, and constantly waiting for the kid to become a proven commodity. I for one liked Corey, but I did question his thought process often. I think the organization may be a tad bit gun shy on Felix. We also do not get to see him and work with him on a daily basis.I am not saying that I like the idea of trading Pie straight up for Roberts, but I am curious of why the orginization is thinking of possibly doing this.( insert bad organization joke here)

I see literally no reason why our payroll is not 1st or 2nd highest in the league. I think I'd rather win with a smaller payroll than the Yanks or BoSox, but dammit, I don't care anymore, just buy the damn World Series and get it over with!

Theres talk of making him a super sub, but he doesnt see how there will be enough AB's subbing only for Roberts at second, Lee, A-Ram, Fonzi, and Fukudome. I have to agree with him here. If he gets 450 AB's subbing for those guys, how will they feel giving up those AB's as a group.

Now, if someone gets hurt, which is always a possibility with A-Ram and Fonzi, its not such a bad deal. But if not, there are going to be some upset guys on the team.

Patterson was rushed, IMO. He never learned the strike zone in the minors, so i'm not sure how they expected him to do so in the Bigs. Then they tried to make him a leadoff/number two guy. That will ruin a guy that cant judge the strike zone. He should've been hitting in the six or seven hole, but too late now.

IMO, they are doing the same thing to Pie by not giving him consistent AB's. I will be overly pleased if they stick with Pie in center this year. He will make the team better with his defense alone. If he can hit .250 and improve as the season goes on, i'd call the season a success. Its completely asinine to let a young guy with his tools sit on the bench. I say give him a shot.

I'd be absolutely fine with Pie for Roberts straight up. Who was the last Cubs OF to come up through their minor league system to put up Roberts level numbers? Joe Carter? I don't expect Pie to buck that trend. He just doesn't see the ball through the zone and neither did/does Corey Patterson which is why his career OBP is under .300, a distinction Pie will most likely share with him.

I would rather trade ARam and makde DeRosa the #1 at 3B....

What is the status of Roberts and the drug issue?

Go ahead and make the deal.

Our farm system is trash and will stay trash as long as Hendry is here.

I used to like him, but he has waned, if you ask me...his weight has gone up, his fielding is only good when the ball is hit right to him, and his postseason performance had shades of the BlackSox all over it....

Besides, he needs protection to be efficient, and Lou will likely not bat Lee behind him, and he would be too much of a clog to hit in front of Soriano. I wouldn't mind shopping him for some bullpen help.

We've got a lot more to worry about before we start putting Ramirez on the block.

Are you seriously saying that he gave AB's away during the playoffs?

He's one of the top third basemen in the league, IMO.
