This is why Dusty Baker gets so much crap. He doesn't make the right choice when everyone else knows it's obvious. Some may say he didn't get the credit he deserved for the Reds being competitive most of this season. Well now, he definitely deserves a good portion of the blame for the downward spiral we're in right now.

With Fay starting to chime in on Taveras the Reds are going to have to do something. They are better off right now with Dickerson and Stubbs platooning their CF, instead of this POS.
Have you even been watching what he is doing in AAA?
He is totally lost right now!
He is in a horrible slump and is just struggling mightly right now.
Both the Bats manager and he himself just recently said in the Louisville paper that he needs a whole year in AAA. You have to remember he is so young, this is his first year in AAA.
I am not for sure what he has done the last couple of days, but before Tuesday he was in a 0 for 23 slump! He is just lost right now and the last thing they need to do is bring him up.
So once and for all can we stop with the bring up Stubbs tallk???ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Do you want to blame Dusty for Votto missing 30 games??? Or that 3 of the 4 staring infielders have missing alot of time lately?? Or that the best pitcher from last year is out with and no one knows when he is coming back??
This team is not going to win regardless of who Dusty rolls out there, they just are not hitting right now! Again you are not going to win when you are hitting .205 as a team!ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Jake your gonna give yourself a stroke with all the !!!!! in your posts. We get it. You like Dusty. I do too. But baseball fans will always talk about a stud prospects being called up. aka Stubbs. Especially when the team is struggling. They will also bash the Manager for questionable decisions.
Dusty pissed me off last night. He keep Ryan Hanigan on the bench for the second straight night and Ramon Hernandez, hitting .179 for his last 29 games (19-106) is behind the plate. I don't understand that logic. I also don't understand why Janish isn't playing SS and JHJ playing 3B. Janish is a much better defensive SS than JHJ. Starting Danny Richar at 3b last night had me baffled me. Richar has never played 3B in the majors. He has played 3B in the minors exactly 6 times in 731 career games. Louisville has played 8 different guys at 3B this year, none of them are named Danny Richar. I'm surprised he only had one error last night.
Jeff Brantley called it right last night. He said “The Reds can’t turn the double play and the run will score…that’s what happens when you continue to play guys out of position like Hairston and Richar”. BINGO!!!
This is the Reds thread man. We are all going to talk about who didn't get a call up or who shouldn't be in the line-up. Relax my friend. It's nothing personal.Last edited by Jackdog; 06-25-2009, 07:43 AM.NFL:Packers

Your telling me to calm down but yet everyone else is doing the griping about line ups, call ups, ect?? When are you all going to learn that Dusty is a different type of manager and get use to him putting make shift line ups out there everyday. He has been doing this for 20 years now, he is not changing.
You missed my whole point, it is easy to say lets do this or lets do that. This simple fact is this team just isnt that good. They cant hit no matter who they run out there. It just kills me when guys say well lets call up so and so and everything will be allright. Who cares is so and so cant hit right now in AAA???
And I agree Hannigan should be our catcher right now not Hernandez. I truly think Dusty is playing Hernandez to pay him back for his willingness to play 1b while Votto was out. Again I dont think it is right but it is the way he manages. He is a players manager, we need to realize it and not be surprised when he does things like this.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Thanks for making your point a little clearer. I hope you don't get the impression I'm picking on you. I'm just worried about your BP.
I understand that Dusty's a players manager but he's getting paid to win games first and foremost. I like Dusty. But if he doesn't change his ways he will never win a championship let alone a wild card with this young team. I hope he proves me wrong.NFL:Packers

Re: 2009 Cincinnati Reds
I just think people on here think this team is alot better then they really are.
For heavens sake our best option at SS right now if Paul Janish, the guy couldnt hit in the mnors. Jerry Hairston is our best option at 3B, Chris Dickerson is our CF, and Ryan Hanigan is our best option at C.
Seriously how good can we be with these guys as our best options??? lol
Thats not even bringing up Jay "I cant hit a breaking ball" Bruce who is now hitting just above .200 and Lanyce "I am a career back up OFer" Nix. We currently have the WORST line up in all of baseball and it is not even close. There is a reason we are batting just above .200 the last month.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: 2009 Cincinnati Reds
I would build for next year, with that being said I would offer Homer and what ever other minor leaguers the A's want for Matt Holliday. I think he is exactly what the Reds need, a big RH bat and decent LF. Homer's stock is once again really high so I would trade him now, you never know when he is going to start struggling again. He is 5-0 with an ERA around 2 I believe since hs started throwing a split finger. I know the A's and Billy Beane have expressed interest in him before so I would try to do it right now.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: 2009 Cincinnati Reds
While I totally agree with you about some of the line ups are just wrong that Dusty puts out there and I agree Taveras should not play. You cant put the blame on Dusty for the downward spiral the Reds are currently in! The team is batting freakin .205 the last 30 games, no matter who he runs out there they just are not hitting!

This team isn't performing and it's his job to put players in the best position to win. I do agree that this team isn't that good anyway, but to put them at even more of a disadvantage by batting players in the same spot no matter how well they're playing this season is bull**** and I'm not going to stand for it as a fan.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: 2009 Cincinnati Reds
I understand that the Reds are shorthanded on talent and with injuries, it's been even harder to trot out a team that remotely resembles a Major League club. But it's things like batting Taveras at the top day in and day out and starting Ramon Hernandez despite him just sucking at the plate and behind the plate. You say maybe he's doing it because he's in debt to Hernandez for being a good team player and playing 1st while Votto was out. That's just bull****, man. I'm sorry. Why is he giving preference to certain players (if that is the case)? I want my TEAM to win, not have Ramon Hernandez feel good because he gets to play everyday. I don't want that kind of manager. I want one who wants to win even if that means sitting a big name player because he's struggling. This is why I don't like Dusty Baker and I never will. He does things that just baffles my mind. And he won't stop until we're buried so far in the standings that it doesn't matter what he runs out there.

Re: 2009 Cincinnati Reds
Please post another post again on how bad Taveras and Hernandez are as it seemed to make them play alot better after you did. Taveras and Hernandez both played great this weekend for the Reds. Hernandez was named the MVP of this years Ohio Cup, and Taveras seemed to be on base and scoring runs the whole series.
By the way the Reds are now just 2.5 games back.
Taveras is only good for his speed and Hernandez has never thrown out a runner but can't hit now either.
