Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I would pay him, but he is probably asking for an insane amount of money considering he hasn't signed a new deal. I don't think he wants to be here either. So Just hope he keeps pitching this way and get a huge haul for him. Think Garza deal except a little better.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
I can't imagine that his value would be higher than it is now...
they need to go ahead and make it happen. I'm sure most potential trade partners might want to wait, but if they start the bidding, it will only take one team to get in on the action to get the whole thing started.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

And I don't know who to side with on this...
From what I understand, I'd have to say the Roofies have been a bit unreasonable...but I'm always suspicious of the bigger guy in these kind of things.
To some extent, the renovation is reasonable, inevitable, and necessary...I think both parties would do well to work together to attempt to get the best of both worlds.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
They broke off negotiations and are going ahead with their original plan on renovating Wrigley Field. Putting up video boards and signs wherever they want.
More than likely this will be resolved in a courtroomComment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
If I am not mistaken Mo, in the original contract both sides agreed to the use of a 3rd party mediator only, and will adhere to their decision. I could be wrong, but I believe that is what I read -Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

I agree with Ricketts, the renovation has to happen and it has to happen as soon as possible. I think the Cubs present a plan with even more outfield signage for city approval to stick it to the rooftops.
Talks weren't going anywhere, and it was either this way or a relocation to the suburbs.
Edit: Yep, four additional 650 sq ft LED signs and another 2,400 sq ft one in right field. More info here: http://www.wrigleyfield.com/plan/plan-factsLast edited by k_mac; 05-22-2014, 03:16 PM.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
The official website of the Chicago Cubs with the most up-to-date information on news, tickets, schedule, stadium, roster, rumors, scores, and stats.
We are excited to welcome Manny to the Cubs organization and look forward to him working with our young hitters," Epstein said. "Manny is not only one of the best hitters of all time, he is also a dedicated student of hitting and has proven to be a gifted teacher with younger teammates who have worked with him in the batting cage. Behind the scenes he has always been a tireless worker who is very serious about the craft of hitting. Manny has made real mistakes in the past but he has owned up to them and moved his life in a positive direction the last couple of years. He is in a really great place right now and wants to share the lessons he's learned along the way. We think he deserves another chance and that our young hitters will benefit from it."
"While Manny is not and will not be a fit on the Cubs major league roster, we do think at this stage of his life he's a nice fit as a mentor for some of the young talented hitters we have in the organization. Manny will coach full-time and play part-time in a limited role that does not take at-bats away from our prospects. If he shows there is still some magic in his bat, perhaps he will find his way to the major leagues and help another team, but that is not why he is here. We are thrilled that he wants to work with our young hitters and make a difference.
Truly random. The Cubs being the Cubs.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
It could be a great move if he really takes to coaching up the players already there. I don't think anyone questions Manny's knowledge of hitting.Comment

Just wasn't really expecting anything like that happening. Kind of an out of nowhere move. But hey, if it pays off, good for both the Cubs and Manny.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
^^ Bryant is tearing AA up, and I love it.
With the draft coming up in a few days, who do you guy think we'll pick? Assuming that the top three pitchers (Aiken, Rodon, Kolek) are gone, I'd like to see us grab Aaron Nola. Alex Jackson could be a possibility too, at another position our system isn't particularly deep in, catching. Even if he cant stick behind the plate, he's regarded as the top bat in the draft.Comment

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread
Sounds like(and it all guesses) that even if Kolek is there, the Cubs wont draft him.
I dont want Nola at 4. Seems like a reach to me.
It's Rodon or bust for me, which means they'll draft a college bat then select an arm with every other pick in the draft.Comment
