Cubs "listening on Samardzija." What would it take? I think the D'Backs have a giant crush on Jeff.

Highly doubt he is traded. But how about two top 5 prospects (pitching) then another prospect in that org's top fifteen. That's what I would like to see. Heard they were looking for the top two pitching prospects in any deal. Plus at least one or two more solid guys. If were talking Dbacks id take Bradley, Skaggs, and Stryker Trahan.

C.J. Edwards struck out the first seven batters he saw in yesterday's start. The first of his Cubs career and first in High-A ball. Finished the game after 5 innings, allowing only one hit and a walk.

        Not too bad.

          How about now? lol

It's not just his bat, it's his athleticism, his unpredictability. Can drop an absolute bomb then the next at bat beat out an infield bunt.

His spark is something we haven't had in a while. Has the makings of a guy that can change a whole game by himself, whether it be in the field or on the base paths. Hopefully he can continue to improve and sustain his great play.

I've read various places that 3rd Base could still be in the plans for Lake.

Not sure how I feel about that. I would hate to neutralize his speed by throwing him in the infield. Especially seeing we have Olt, Bryant and Baez that can all play the position in the near future. I say CF for LF would be the best spot for him, then Almora filling one of the other positions.

I think he'll stick to the OF. One of his + tools is his Arm but I think that would be better suited in the OF.

Kris Bryant promoted to Daytona for the rest of the season. Kinda disappointed I personally didnt get to see him in Kane, but whatever, I'll see him at Wrigley

Quit bragging that you can go to Wrigley whenever and I'm stuck in Mobile with an AA team for Arizona! But at least I've got tickets for playoff baseball

So it appears that so far Kris Bryant is as good as advertised.

Kid is absolutely raking to start off the AFL. So is Almora. Going to be fun to track their progression next year.

Yeah It's going to be fun to see.

Here are some of Almora's quotes via @sahadevsharma

Almora: I feel like I'm capable of playing & my baseball iq is the same as these guys. I'm happy the way everything's going.

Almora: Just a matter of time when everything comes together. Everything explodes in Chicago, winning starts & championships start coming

Almora: You say 2015, but if they call our names tomorrow, it's gonna happen. I'm not gonna be scared of the challenge of being up there.

Almora on hype: If there's hype, bring it on, I love it. It gives me a reason to work harder to be the best that there is (more)

Almora: I said one thing to the Cubs when they drafted me. I said I'm gonna prove those 5 teams that passed me up wrong.

Almora: I'm gonna do all in my heart & soul to get you that ring. Honestly, I'm tired of not winning as an organization & I'm not even there

Cubs hire Rick Renteria as manager.

I don't know much about him, but I wasn't too impressed with the guys they were interviewing, so I'm not disappointed in the hire.

Cubs rounding out their spring training roster. Also some nice added infield depth with some good speed on the base paths.

Rumor has it that Theo is still hopeful for a Samardzija long term deal.

I think Theo needs to stay far away from that. I think he already proved that he doesn't have the stuff to be in the rotation and be a top tier. Guy was absolutely horrible from June on and couldn't miss a bat.

Think we need to hope he has a hot first half, and dump him while we can.
