I'm wondering what did they do to his swing because it doesn't like the one 2 years ago.. He can barley catch up to a fastball now.

I do think the league has a book on him now so he has to adjust.

I also hope Rizzo gets it going, while his numbers are respectable he's only had 1 decent month this year. I'm not an average guy either but hitting in the .240's isn't ideal.

I don't know what those arguments are, but I've seen enough of Castro to see that he simply doesn't play hard most of the time.. maybe even the majority of the time.

You see young players like Trout/Harper/Machado/Puig/etc. running hard on groundballs, taking extra bases, playing with intensity. That has nothing to do with talent, and everything to do with effort. Unfortunately, that is a difficult thing to teach and cultivate in someone who doesn't naturally have it or hasn't needed it in the past.

I hope I'm wrong about him, though. He's a great talent, and the Cubs certainly need more.

On another note, any updates on negotiations with Kris Bryant?

Lost in the Soriano 2-HR day, Starlin Castro had a nice little game himself. Was watching and saw him (A) drive a low FB off Blanton to dead center for a HR (B) Take a 5-pitch walk (that really should've been 4 pitches if the ump had a clue) and (C) totally rob Albert Pujols on a diving grounder to his right and hose him at 1B.

By the way, on Cubs.com last year there were several people really ticked off about dealing Sean Marshall to Cincy. By now, I don't think ANYONE should have any issues with that deal. T. Wood is legit.

Cubs close to record deal with Bryant. As long as it doesn't effect the team too much I am on board

It comes right in at the slot. From what I've read, it looks like the Cubs were expecting to have to sign him about there and planned accordingly. Hopefully that's right.

I'll live with the split to finish the first half, but Gregg giving it up like that was painful. Was at the game on Friday, and gotta think my guy Julio makes that catch in center. Castro appears to definitely be on the up, though I'll hold my tongue for the most part. Definitely interested to see how the second half plays out. Just show me some positives, that's all I'm asking for. Carry it over.

Anyone hear when and where Kris Bryant will start? Looked earlier today and didn't find anything.

Thanks. That's what I was hearing before he was signed.

Garza deal is reportedly all but done. We're looking at Olt + Edwards + Ramirez possibly. After Garza f'ing up his arm last year and being a 30-y/o rental, I'd consider that a pretty brightly-colored feather in Theoyer's cap. I'm not a big Olt guy, and he's been pretty awful in AAA, but at least he's not Josh Vitters. It'll be interesting to see exactly who we get back.

If they land those three I would be happy.

Cubs and Rangers exchanging medical info, deal is getting close.

Edit: now there's reportedly a "snag." Lol, I'm done reading into it. 2012 type stuff all over again.
