No freakin' way. I've seen enough ****ty bullpens to never even consider trading an insane closer once we have one, let alone now the best closer in the game.Comment

Re: 2013 Atlanta Braves Thread
I read an article before the season started in which a guy was proposing the Braves trade Kimbrel now for offense. His argument was that closers are overrated and that in reality, the Braves have most likely seen the best Kimbrel has to offer and it will all be downhill from here on out. IOW, Kimbrel's trade value will never be higher, you can get a haul for him, and replace him with someone who does a comparable job.
Of course, I disagreed…that said, if you aren't even going to use the guy in the post-season and lose without him on the mound why keep him?"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: 2013 Atlanta Braves Thread
I think getting mad about that is just trying to split hairs. That didn't lose the game. And it was the logical decision. Counting Game 2, Kimbrel has pitched more than one inning exactly four times in his career. Meanwhile, Carpenter is coming off a season when he had a 1.78 era, including 0.69 in September, and hadn't given up runs in back to back games all season. Hindsight is always 20/20, but in that moment, there isn't any logical reason to not trust Carpenter in that situation.Comment

I had no idea the Braves are moving north in 3 seasons to a new stadium in Cobb County, GA. I know I've disconnected from baseball after the NLDS, but this was out of nowhere for me.

Re: 2013 Atlanta Braves Thread
I'm very excited about the news. This will lead to a lot of revenue money especially from sponsorship assuming its called coca cola field or something like that. Its happening right around the time that our young homegrown talent will hit the free agent market so that money will come in handy. Ownership will not allow them all to leave for the opening season at the new park.
Plus its supposed to be a 365 attraction with things to do around the park. Its a win win for everyone especially the fans now that more money for payroll will be available

It was good while it lasted. Good luck Huddy.

Wow…Giants throwing all kinds of money at over the hill pitchers (Lincecum, Huddy). I do think Huddy will benefit from pitching in that ball park. Thanks for all the memories Huddy…he'll be missed."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do.
