Just saw this. Hudson was rough, but losing McCann hurts.

I'm happy he went to the Yankees.

Also, Huddy's letter in the AJC

I hate, I really hate to see Huddie and McCann go!. They were the last of the modern Atlanta Braves as we know. BUT its "Their" time to put the Braves organization on their shoulders and take us to the next level and beyond. The question is: Who will they be?

With McCann and Huddie gone, is the prestige missing from this team to sign any big time "Ace"?

The worst part of them leaving is that now the only player I truly trust in a leadership role on this team is Freddie Freeman.

Hopefully the other guys can grow into that position and that we don't unravel. I know some people think that stuff is overrated, but I don't.

Heyward needs to take the jump to superstar both on the field and off the field.

He needs to stop the good year/bad year cycle (although we're in for a good year this year if he keeps it up). Last year was hard to judge because of all the injuries, but I really think they need to decide what kind of player he's going to be and let him develop.

He flourished in the lead off role (and our offense did as well…that fateful day in NY really changed our season IMO), but he's too good a hitter to waste in that spot IMO. He should be your #3/4/5 type of guy.

Wherever it is, he needs to be consistent. Stop with the .170 month followed by the .350 month followed by the .205 month.

The 3/4/5 guy thing is an antiquated myth. The #3 hitter should be, by the numbers, about your 5th best hitter, and 5th should be your 4th. 1, 2, and 4 are the most important spots in the lineup. The best OBP should bat leadoff.

If you believe Freeman can duplicate a .396 OBP and is the best on the team at getting on base, he should bat leadoff. Personally, I believe him, Heyward, and J. Upton are all about equal at getting on, and so the leadoff hitter of that group would then be the guy with least amount of power, which has been Heyward. So, if I was to make a lineup with this roster for next year it'd look like this:

                    1. RF Heyward
                    2. 1B Freeman
                    3. 3B Johnson
                    4. LF Upton
                    5. C Gattis
                    6. SS Simmons
                    7. 2B Uggla
                    8. Pitcher
                    9. CF B.J. Upton

I know what you're saying. We cant make him, if its not in him to do so. Heyward and Freeman both are the cornerstone for the next 5-7 years. Last year for Heyward was bad luck, stomach aliment and broken jaw. And he still provided some big time moments. I think he has to settle in spot in the lineup for him to be successful. He is our RF, not CF thats BS. If BJ cant cut thats the organization problem.

I'm willing to bet the team looks considerably different by next month. The bench and rotation need some added pieces.

I know hes not a Brave anymore, but why Brian McCann has not been introduced or had press conference in the Bronx. Its weird. Two weeks since he agreed to a 85 million contract. The Yankees would usually be trotting out their big free agent to Yankee nation..

Dude…I thought I had missed it. Have they really not trotted him out? I was actually thinking of googling it because I figured I had just missed it...

@SPortsforever; LOL I was listening to the local sports talk radio in Atlanta this afternoon. B- Mac just pass his physical and he will have to go baby face. His press conference is this Thursday.
