    Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays

    Of all our MLB batters:
Izturis,Davis,Rasmus are really the only guys who struggled(meaning hit below .255 in ST so far). EE also hit below that mark, but he has only gotten 15 at bats(but did great in WBC,including driving in game winning runs in the finals)

Reyes,JP,Lind,Cabrera,Bonifacio,Blanco are all guys who hit ove .300 so far in ST

Pitching wise, many guys have been struggling. Lets just hope it's a spring training thing and not how they'll be in 2013.

Mickey Story should make MLB team based on his ST numbers(and his numbers last year in Houston too), but he likely wont.

Same with Happ. He's not gonna make MLB team either despite having a great spring.

We finally get a full roster again for the first time in almost 3 weeks. We've gone 4-10-1 since the WBC guys left. Sure, while some have slowly returned(and other than Dickey,no other pitcher was on WBC), the big ones like EE and Reyes were out.

A couple things after watching PTS this evening

      1. Looks like natural grass won't be seen until between 2015-2018.

      2. Jose Reyes has to be one of the most upbeat players in all of baseball. His interview with Brunt was fun to watch. He's like Tony Fernandez on happy pills LOL!

      3. Looks like Ricky Romero has lost the #5 starter job as everyone in the organization was watching him pitch against the Pirates minor league team. It was an atrocious day for him as he was supposed to pitch 5 innings but couldn't make it out of the 4th inning. There seems to be a mechanical flaw in his delivery that Pete Walker says can be worked on at the major league level. If this was any other year i'm sure that would be the case but it looks like he'll be left in Florida when the team goes north.

Wouldn't mind him in minors, even if it's just for a month. Look at Lind when he went down, he went to AAA for a month and came back up and started improving.

I don't get why Jays didn't just have dirt in the entire infield? A number of teams do that instead of having grass there, and since the main injury concern regarding the grass lies with the infield(an infield which now has 3 of our top players), Jays should have done something to fix it.

It's like the pic I posted awhile back:

That's what they should have instead. Cause if not, seems like a terrible investment to have big part of your team be in the infield, and doing nothing to reduce the risk of injuries.

A number? Try every other team in the majors (at least from running through pictures on Google), even Tampa who plays indoors.

Mainly because of drainage issues and the fact that the Rogers Centre is still basically a multipurpose stadium that sees the turf being moved in and out constantly. Add in the fact that the Argos also play there and hence why the wait. Beeston explained it pretty well last night I think.

I know that, but what I'm saying is to at least make the infield all dirt or something instead. If they can't do what they wanted to do, then find alternate methods to make the field easier on the guys(notably infielders) playing on it.

                  Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays

                  Bullpen:
                  Janssen
                  Santos
                  Oliver
                  Delabar
                  Loup
                  Cecil

And supposedly we're using 8 man bullpen(at least till Lawrie is back, which would be like 3-4 days into season hopefully).

                  Meaning:
                  Jeffress
                  Rogers
                  Moscoso
                  Schwimer
                  McGowan

Only 1-2 of those guys will make MLB team, rest are sent down(or waived). So which 1 of those guys should be guaranteed bullpen spot, and which one gets sent down once our bullpen is back to 7 in just under 2 weeks(most likely).

Rogers/Jeffress are likely making it to 8 man bullpen, and I'm leaning towards Rogers being the one Jays keep in the 7 man bullpen.

                    What do people think?

Will be strange to see at first since windows have always been there, but I can see it being forgotten real quickly(the windows I mean). I hope that turns into a real fans area. I could see that being the area with fans using the strikeout K and posting it on the lower wall.

Hopefully even like banners/jays flags and stuff too from that area(since it's a standing area)

Interesting, I was expecting a wider concourse thing from the way Beeston pitched it. Oh and JEEZ....Nice how they put that big honkin' Rogers sign there. That's gonna be in a TON of highlights this year LOL.

I was listening to the radio replay of the game last night and I had to laugh as Jerry and Jack couldn't even get to tell stories for the first 5 innings because of how fast Lee and Buerhle (sp?) were pitching LOL!

So I can't get a totally good read on Jack because of that but Jerry's gonna have to do some real heavy lifting on the commentary this year for sure. Me thinks they need to have Wilner be a bigger part of the booth.

lol, but Buck on commentary was funny. Calling "WHIP", Runs + hits/innings pitched.

I wish Jays had more exciting commentators. Like Leafs have on Sportsnet and LeafsTV(and occasionally HNIC when Bob Cole commentates)

There's a new generation lurking, Wilner and Hayhurst did the radio call of all the Florida ST games and were EXCELLENT. They both have great chemistry together.

I like Buck as a color guy but he doesn't make for the greatest PBP guy. The Jays really missed the boat Alan Ashby as he wanted to do TV and the times he did TV with Buck or Tabler were quite good. As a guy who sometimes ends up listening to the radio call (I like to watch about half a game and listen to the other half) it's going to be brutal listening to Morris who speaks in such generalities as to be banal.

Don't get me started on Tabler, the guy is as dull as dishwater and I get the feeling that there's not much going on between the ears either.

Crazy to realize that after this season, John Gibbons will be the 2nd winningest manager in Jays history(just needs 50 to tie Cox)

Other marks that could be reached this year

Bautista could be 5th all time in HR by a Blue Jay(needs 40 to pass Barfield)

Lind could be top 10 in most HR by a Blue Jay(needs 6 to crack it)

Bautista needs 68 walks to be 5th all time by a Blue Jay. 91 to be 4th.

Bautista could be Jays all time leader in On base %, slugging % and OPS!

Janssen needs 28 saves to be 5th all time in Jays saves
EE is 63 games away from playing game #1000
EE is 137 hits away from hit #1000

Melky is 5 hits away from hit #1000
Melky is 16 games away from game #1000

Bautista is 23 games away from game #1000

Man....I was watching the replay of the Baseball Central show this afternoon (BTW nice that they decide to let Blair be the host) and Dirk Hayhurst has turned REAL sour on the Blue Jays. It was almost comical how much he trashed the team.
