Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
So Kinsler could've come to Toronto had he waived his NTC.......
And Jays could've gotten Anderson if it wasn't for their concern about his injuries....that makes no sense. They'd rather keep an injury risked reliever in Santos over trading him for an injury risk starter in Anderson?
I read that article about Anderson and that remark didn't make any sense to me, either.
As soon as I read that the Jays brass only accepted questions that were submitted before the event, I had to laugh. No live questions.Comment

What a joke.
Beeston and Co. are living in la la land if they think they can get away with not doing anything (within reason) to improve the club this offseason. If the Jays start off very cold the attendance is going to crash completely and I daresay it's going to be a bit soft at the beginning of the year as well.
They're playing a dangerous game of "keep the faith" when they've shown a rather spotty track record at best.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

If they get off to a poor start, and fail Gibbons gone by end of August, AA gone end of seasonComment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
I've said it before, Toronto owners(meaning Rogers/MLSE) need to just stop trying to play the good guy card and be like the Yankees,Lakers of sports. Who cares how many people hate us,how much we'll be criticized whenever things don't go our way, just do what it takes to get good players and spend money to win championships!
Leiweke is trying to do that for MLS and hoping to possibly do that for the Raptors too. Leafs have a salary cap to work under so that hurts them, but Jays in MLB need to consistently do this much more often.
Really, seeing how much NEW things Leiweke is doing as part of MLSE shows just how badly MLSE has sucked in the past ,because everything NEW he's doing, has been done in sports for over a decade.
I just hope the 2013 Jays don't end up being used as an example as to why Jays will stop spending in the future. Imagine if in like 2016 and stuff(assuming 2014-2015 Jays aren't successful) once all these big contract guys are gone, Jays just stop spending and are like "spending doesn't always mean success, look at what happened last time we spent alot, we were in no different position from when we didn't spend alot"Comment

It seems like Rogers is so "business savvy" that they live under the "If it doesn't make a profit theres no point" theory and I can certainly understand that from a business point of view, but theyre gajillionares you would think they would want to be fully embraced by the community for this one public endeavour (winning a championship for the city/country) even if it cuts what 3% of the empires money, but they don't.. they just want to look JUST good enough to most people for advertising, but if this crashes around 2016/17 or earlier, and they say look at 2013 were headed into being cheap again drafting etc... the franchise will go back to what it was before in the 2002 era where no one cares anymore and the team will not make much money than if Rogers pulls out... who knows.
As a fan im just not impressed and concerned that Rogers really doesn't know squat about championships and are business only, also not willing to risk losing money for some of the great things a championship could bring.
sorry that was a long rant lolComment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Unfortunately, that's what Canadian sports will be. Rogers and Bell just cares about money, not about winning. Look at Peddies comments during that mini VC interview from SN. He mentioned possibility of making playoffs ONCE, and quickly followed it up by being like "We sold out 41 games that year". No mention about how the team actually did or anything, but the thing that stuck in his head was the money made.
Part of the reason I'm actually liking NFL more and more. No Canadian team to cheer for, so I can actually like a team for the team itself(meaning how much they actually care about winning(no,not in a bandwagon fan type of way)) and not cause I'm basically forced to.
Just sucks seeing this stuff happening to Canadian fanbases, cause it's been proven time after time that Canada is like Field of Dreams. "Build it,and they will come". Same with championship team, build one,and fans will worship it like crazy. You'd seriously have 81 playoff games a year if the Jays were a top team in the league and fans going to games all the time. Something many franchises wish they could have.Last edited by Majingir; 01-30-2014, 12:38 AM.Comment

Super stoked that the Jays don't really want to go with Goins at 2B. Shame the trades haven't really worked out but it's baseball and **** happens and I'm just glad that AA isn't 100% incompetent based on this little bit of public knowledge."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
If he wants to pitch here, then sure, but who knows if he does...last thing we want is him coming here and then just not being interested halfway through the season.
Despite the lack of moves this season, there's still lots of potential left for guys to get.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
He had some crazy splits last season:
Home: 14 GS, 95 IP, 69 hits, 2.37 ERA
Away: 16 GS, 96 IP, 96 hits, 4.22 ERA
A great year by any stretch of the imagination but he was absolutely lights out in Pittsburgh.Comment

Re: 2013 Toronto Blue Jays
Probably random distribution. Something like a ~3.60 ERA in Rogers Centre is probably reasonable to expect."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Regarding the question asked earlier I'd take AJ over everyone else the Jays have been attached to just so long as he WANTS to come here.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
