JP has said even with the increase in budget, impact guys will be mostly developed from within.

The past 5 years have shown impact bats are rarely traded for young pitching. It's much easier to trade for a top flight pitcher (Unit, Vasquez, Mulder, Hudson, etc...) than to get a top flight bat.

Whenever anybody tries to critize JP about his young players, he likes to point out how the Jays farm system had the 2nd best combined record in the minors last season. Of course what he doesn't tell you is that most of the teams are stacked with players that are above the average age for their league.

I just worry JP doesn't have the impact guys in the farm system that other teams want. The Jays have great pitching depth in the farm system but most experts would say they're #3-5 starting pitching type guys.

And I feel like he should have taken a hitter with the number 6th selection.

We are still here amongst our teams inconsistency...that was a tough series loss against the Brewers, but hopefully we can continue to stay hot as we head out on the road to play the Nationals, Devil Rays, then your Red Sox Camulos.

I'm going to start a thread on Aaron Hill in a bit so I hope I get some responses.

As for the Jays i'm gonna be quiet. Everytime I get optimistic something bad happens. This team is very frustrating in that they play damn well against the tough teams but can't buy a win over some of the weaker opponents.

Another dominating performance from Halladay yesterday in the last game of the home stand against the Orioles, we didn't expect any less from him .

8.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 8 K's. Yeah.

And it seems that the offence is finally turning up a bit... hopefully it can stay consistent. I worry about the offence of the Jays, there seems to be a lot of hot/cold slumps.

Yeah, but he isn't the only one . We don't really have consistent bats yet out of anyone maybe except Hill, he's just stellar.

By the way, why is Sportsnet using so many different commentators? I remember they started the season with Pat Tabler, then switched like several times?

That would be Rance Muliniks. He was the first ever Blue Jay to hit an inside the Park HR at the Skydome/Rogers Centre.

By the way, why is Sportsnet using so many different commentators? I remember they started the season with Pat Tabler, then switched like several times?

Sportsnet announced this plan before the season. I kinda like it as you get different views about the team. Tabler is the main colour guy tho. I'm thinking that these other guys are trying out for next year. I think Jamie Campbell has had the most chemistry with Darrin Fletcher. I would hope to see those two work together more.

"Sigh" tonight's game was Exhibit A on why the Jays are only a .500 team this year. They kept threatening but everytime the door was slammed on them.

I'm thinking this team is no better then .500 or slightly above. This isn't a totally bad thing as it's much better then last year. We'll see what happens.

He's pitching well right now, after getting out of that jam with Manny and the bases loaded. The bats have gotten to Clement early which has got to help Lillys performance.

Yah, that was a big out. Manny was trying to hit another grand slam rather than get a base hit. Clement looked great to start but had an awful 3rd inning.

Jays should have saved some more runs for the rest of the series, we will see how Chacin will do tonight.
