Re: Official Toronto Blue Jays "Birds Nest" Thread

JP already said he's done with the selling and is a buyer now. The rebuilding stage of dumping salaries is over.

I know JP has been on record saying he's not going to trade Hillenbrand or Lilly. I hope that's not true because that would be a huge mistake if a team offered the Jays better players in return.

I sure hope Hinske gets traded away. Once Koskie returns, Hill's AB's are going to be blocked unless Hinske gets dealt or rots on the bench. I don't mind the Jays picking up some of his salary to get him off the roster.

What a frustrating loss. We come back, Batista leaks oil and Hinske can't scoop up that simple grounder. Why he didn't move his feet was beyond me. He didn't have to dive for that ball. Why he is even still in the lineup is beyond me. Benching him can open up the DH spot for Reed.

Such a heartbreaking loss tonight, Batista really needs to get things together that outing was just pathetic.

I don't know if Batista was rattled from being pulled during the last game vs. the Red Sox.

Walker has also scuffled the past 2 weeks.

I hope Gord Miller never calls another Jays game again. When Chavez was on 3rd, he actually said Chavez-Ravine is on base.

....and every ball was laced according to Gord. Sadly we'll be hearing him during one of the Tampa Bay games.

I hope Orlando Hudson's hamstring problem is not a big one. He's been doing a pretty good job as of late.

The most encouraging part is that Russ and Orlando are really starting to hit consistently. Hopefully the ODogg rumors die.

If O-Dogg is going to miss any games, I wonder if Hill will play 2B.

Ideally I would like to see Adams move to 2B (good range, weak arm) and Hill go back to his natural position (where he played in the minors) which is SS.
I know Hill is having a terrific season so far but I'm starting to get worried about his lack of HR power.

Hill will probably play 2B because if they put Hill at short then Gibbons would most likely use Johnny Mac at 2nd. I'm not that concerned about Hill not having much HR power. Some guys take a full year or so before they really hit their stride, besides Hill is really good at placing the ball in good spots. He doesn't appear to be one of those guys that try to pull the ball all the time.

Is Rios injured? He's been getting a lot of "night offs" lately. Not really complaining though, as Reed has filled in quite nicely with his timely hitting and defense.

I don't think J-Mac has ever played 2B. I just feel like long-term it's in the Jays best interest to have Hill as the SS. His bat is a real asset in that position. He loses offensive value if he plays at 3B unless he can start to hit 20-25 balls out of the park.

Out of Hudson, Hill, and Adams, I would trade Adams away. His defence hasn't improved and he's simply not hitting for his position (even though he leads the team in RBI's). He's also developed a distain for the free pass.

Actually J-Mac did play some 2B for the Indians, just not a lot. As for Adams i'm only repeating what Butterfield said in a recent collumn that he's improved form below average to average defensively.

I agree with you, trade Adams and keep the young nucleous up the middle of Hill and O-Dawg.

He just played yesterday against the A's . Hudson injured himself hitting a HR .

The Jays lost a tough one in extras, 10-7 to the A's, grr.

                            I'm an idiot

I watched the game yesterday and forget J-Mac subbed in for O-Dog after he got injured.

Either way hopefully he doesn't become a starter if O-Dog is injured. I would hate to see him take playing time away from a player like Hill.

Great win by the Jays tonight. If this was a couple or so years ago the Jays would've probably folded up like a cheap suitcase and get swept.

Lilly is looking like a Cy Young type pitcher out there I just hope he can continue this kind of pitching so we could have a good 1-2 punch.

Well I haven't checked into how Halladay is doing but it better not be too serious, that loss hurt a lot and I'm losing more and more faith in Miguel Batista I think he should be shipped elsewhere.
