As a big time Temple fan, it's good to see them plowing through the A-10. The only thing that concerns me is they aren't really that battle tested this year. Sure, they beat up on Nova, but I still feel that Nova is the better overall team, and probably wins that game 8 times out of 10. That thrashing they took against Kansas still leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

In any event, barring a disaster, they should end up with a 4-6 seed (probably the latter), but I'm not sure if they'll be able to play with the better teams in the tourney. I'm optimistic that they'll be able to get their first tournament win in a long time though.

Lunardi had them as high as a 3 from some of his brackets I've seen, which isn't crazy. I've honestly been impressed with Temple. I still don't know how they could have picked them to finish 10th, or whatever it was, in the preseason.

OSUFan, throughout the 1st half of the Xavier/Rhody game that I was watching in-person, I was trying to figure out what avatar I would sport for a week. Would it be the URI logo, a tribute to Tyson Wheeler, you name it. X played a completely different 2nd half and won by 11. If I were to say I never doubted them for a minute, I'd be lying my *** off. Rhody had a rough go of it in the 2nd half. X played much better defense and Rhody was shooting in the 2nd half at the same end X was shooting at in the 1st, and they both struggled. It wasn't pretty for more than 20 minutes but I'll take it.

PS - I've seen worse officiating, but it wasn't all that spectacular. I was shocked at how many travels people got away with, especially Xavier players.

Temple travels down to Charlotte who is 4-1 in conference, and of course, I will be in class and miss it.

I agree that they've been tested somewhat, but not as much as they have been in previous years. I guess I'm still used to the John Chaney years when he would put this team through hell, and wind up with 13 losses, but end up making the dance because of their RPI.

They should have beaten Georgetown earlier in the year. If they could have hit their free throws down the stretch, they probably would have. No offense to Xavier this year, but they don't look as good as they did in prior years, still a good team though.

I get what your saying but even so they have SOS: 29 and a non-conference SOS of 20 , so they still have pretty good computer numbers.

I forgot to mention that they played at Seton Hall, had a neutral court game against Va. Tech and a home game against a solid Siena. I thought they played a pretty solid non conference; the only problem is that they have to play MAC conference teams due to their football program.

They didn't play their best, especially in the 2nd half. I give X's defense credit for that. They really stepped it up. I think Rhody is still going to finish strong.

None taken because they aren't. Important new players or returning players in new roles. The only thing that Xavier has been is battle-tested. They played a brutal OOC schedule. Considering they have the record they do, with a new coach and new team as far as scoring and such, it's rather remarkable. If they make the dance this year, I'll be thrilled.

And, by the way, Jordan Crawford is an absolute stud. X hasn't had someone that talented playing for them since David West.

I don't think they're under any obligation to play MAC teams because of their football team's involvement in that conference. If they are, that's news to me.

I thought the same thing, but it turns out phenom is right. As a result of the deal they made with the MAC for football, they agreed to do a home-and-home with each of the MAC schools in basketball.

...As former MAC commissioner Rick Chryst saw it, in the harsh, me-first world of midmajor basketball scheduling, this was one bone his football-focused office could throw his basketball programs: Temple would be required to play a home and away game with each of the MAC’s dozen basketball teams.

“It was a pretty important piece of the relationship, quid pro quo,” Temple athletic director Bill Bradshaw said Monday.

Unless something changes, tonight will be the end of WMU’s relationship with Temple hoops — the rest of the MAC’s basketball programs will sever ties after completing their series with Temple over the next two years. ...

I like this Xavier team, the only problem is that they are young and as a result inconsistent. I wouldn't surprise to see them in the tournament. They don't really have a bad loss combined with their reputation and a weak at large pool; it just wouldn't surprise me to see them in the tournament.

I really want to believe Dayton is the top 25 team they started the year as, but they are really making it difficult. Are they still having injury trouble?

Rhody @ Dayton Tuesday and Temple @ Charlotte Wednesday highlight the early games this week.

That was a bad loss to St. Joe's. They have had terrible play at the PG position and Chris Wright (though he had a big game Saturday) still hasn't taken "the leap" to become a superstar capable of carrying the team.
