Only because he is EXTREMELY intelligent. There is nothing more to it than that. He knows he doesn't have to sign an LOI, the worst that can happen if he were to back out is that he cannot accept a scholarship at an SEC school for 2 years.

If I were a top recruit, I would pay special attention to what Knight has done. All top recruits should do this because it is a real pain to get out of an LOI if a coaching changes happens. Plus the LOI really only protects the university and not the athlete.

As for Knight, the only story is that he is smart and from I understand he had no intentions of signing an LOI ever regardless of which school he went to.

            no surprise there.

Man, I hope UK lands either Jones or Leslie. I would be ecstatic with either.

I'm reading that Florida canceled CJ Leslie's visit and he will make a college decision sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Guarantee we won't see any 4-32 three point exhibitions next season with Knight and Lamb in the backcourt. I will now go bang my head against the wall.

you might. Reading through some stats to solve my own curiosity, the final fours since the start of the one and done rule has averaged one freshman starter per Final Four (all 4 teams).

That's not really all that relevant.

In the "one and done" era for Calipari with freshmen PGs, he's won 10 tournament games.

I might be missing someone, but I believe that puts him one win behind Izzo and tied with Roy Williams for most wins in the last 3 years.

What he's doing is clearly working. He hasn't won a championship doing what he's doing yet, but as long as he continues to put out elite teams he'll probably get there eventually.

ESPN.com insider says that some sources say that Cory Joseph is a two team race between UConn and Texas, but others say Nova is his favorite. Then one other says all 5 of his candidates are real possibilities. Mixed news, yet it's good to hear that UConn is still a choice. We really really need this guy.
I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.

Joseph is just filling us with false hope. He's going to Texas.

                              Re: 2010 Recruiting Discussion Thread

I think it is relevant. This year's UK team started three freshmen and endured the same fate as the Memphis 2006 squad which started 3 freshmen and 2 sophomores. They ran into a veteran UCLA squad that played outstanding defense. Same thing happened with UK.

2007, 2008, and 2009 he started only one freshman (Kemp, Rose, Evans). The 2007 and 2009 team lost to better squads and the 2008 team started 2 juniors and 2 seniors alongside Rose.

This is why I believe the recruiting class that Memphis has this year will get the Tigers back into the Sweet Sixteen, but the big payoff won't be until the 2012 tournament (dependent on the defections of course).

What's up w. your boy Will Barton? Half the scouts say he's the best scorer in the class, half say he's mad overrated. Didn't get much PT in the Nike Summit game.

Regardless of that, Pastner definitely brought in an amazing class considering most outsiders thought Memphis was doomed once Calipari left.
