HOF. I can't remember whose sliders I am using, but I have adjusted them some.
Each of the 7 games I have played just goes the same way. I stay close and then in the 4th quarter I get blown out at some point (different times each game). I played the Magic the game before and won by 13. The difficulty doesn't seem to be the problem, but for some reason this game which I have played repeatedly I cannot get a different outcome. The first couple of times they killed me with attacking the basket 85% of their plays in the second half. Then it was them shooting 70% from behind the arc man on them or not. Then the last couple of games it has literally been Holiday or Evans clearing out and just driving the lane every single play and my big men never ever step in to help out on that.

Just lost on why the same exact game turns out in the same manner when I've tried packing the paint, and tried protecting the outside. Offense isn't my issue. I score pretty close to being realistic, but playing with the best defensive team I am giving up 105-120 points in these 7 games against the same team.

The difficulty doesn't bother me though, if I lose I lose, but when the same game ends the same way in the same scoring range, it just feels like it's out of my hands.

Could you post a screenshot of your third quarter total game stats and then the several screens of the final game lines that you keep trying?

Let's see if we can get to the bottom of this.

HOF is tougher this year I think or I'm just not well practiced enough yet. I wanted to share a few things that I have learned so far.

HOF CPU play is lot about space. And the CPU (along with users can get it pretty easy this year). With open space comes jumpers are easy to hit and a harder to defend opponent who can suck away your defense. I think this has happened because people wanted to see points in the paint numbers drop but in compensating for that, it's given a lot more space on jumpers. Personally, I'd prefer it the other way around because at least I have defenders within range.

        But on to other stuff.

First, I use the sliders out of the box. I understand why people change the sliders but sliders are very personal. A slider set that may work for me may not work for someone else. Second, some of the slider sets were put out pretty early and I know the logic behind it but it seems to me that a significant amount of play should take place to find out what actually needs to be adjusted after hours of play. Maybe they have been I don't know.

I play against other users alot so I prefer one set I can use from mode to mode. If you don't do that it's not as important.

I also have gone back to all auto. I noticed that it seemed I could never nail down the right defense. In all past versions of the game I have ran on all auto as well with exception of current gen ps3. By auto, I mean the POE's, play calling and substitution (on fatigue). The only thing I left on manual was defense because I just stay in man.

Defense is key. One thing I noticed was I always playing a little tight on the ball. Because of that, I was getting beat off the dribble and giving up to many lay ups or dish offs. Sag too far off and it's a three.

It's imperative that you stay on the direct line between the ball and the basket. Otherwise, you are beat because your defense will break down.

I finally opted to relax my defense just a tad standing just inside the three point line. What this is does is take away the drive but it's close enough to challenge the shot. Typically, you can get away with this on the point guard depending on his tendencies. So, you have to be a little more careful on the shooters maybe on the line.

Only experimentation will let you know. Playing a team multiple times does help you learn more about that team and I am glad to see you are doing that.

From my point of view, initially I always have a quarter where I just can't score. There are these droughts and it seems like every thing is well defended.

I think what is going on here is that the CPU has nailed down the handful of things you might be doing on offense and just taking it away. When faced with that, you have to one of two things. Get to the line, or run an entirely different set that takes the CPU off guard. Usually the CPU likes to get up 10 somehow so you are constantly working from behind. If you can get up early, and get the CPU in that position, you will have a much easier time.

One other thing is that you have to watch your fouling and keep the CPU off the line.

I use the Pacers too. I play teams multiple times until I learn what they like to do. Currently I've been studying the Lakers. I'm not telling anyone it's easy but here's a box score vs the HOF CPU Lakers just to let you know people see evidence of what you can do. I think this was my eight game vs them.

Re: Next Gen CPU Cheese/Cheating Is Amazing!

the problem is not the boxscores ..the boxscores of all my games on HOF (custom sliders) look legit , its the things that happen in game that arent on stat sheet .
the cpu does things that you can see but you can do nothing about it ..i just finished a game vs the 76ers on hof in mygm and i had at leats 4 blocks where the player getting blocked unrealistically recovers the ball while your players are stunned till he gets up with it and scores ...sort of like a matrix type thing , its so annoying because its costing me crucial games now .
as mentioned above , i played the same games over where ive seen some suspect stuff happening and believe it or not ..the same outcome and same runs happen ..u can play 24 seconds of great defense and not get rewarded its too annoying now i start to predict what the cpu is plotting against me ...stunning my players on defense , pushing em out of bounds to create space for the driver , numbing my player movement while trying to attempt a contest (always drops wenn that happens )
ill advised cpu passes always arrive and your players staring at it !
my players in great position to grab boards and somehow not even try to jump standing there looking at the cpu grabbin the board ..all the things and even more stuff i didnt mention add up to you losing ..even if you shoot a better % than the cpu even if you play super good defense , these things are programmed in the game to create this storyline in games , and wenn that scripts starts running there is nothing you can do (no time outs no slowing down the game nothinggg!!! ) ur basically helpless ...i had my older brother once say couple years ago ..man you still playing those games ?? they make you contol ur joystick but actually ur just watching animations do what they are programmed to do ..u dont control **** ..i was like this guy is stupid knows nothing bout computer games .,...i really feel him on that one now ...i tried different sliders different difficulty settings everything but i swear its nothing you can do wenn cpu starts to demolish u even with weaker teams ..i,m really looking to stop messing with HOF and superstar but i refuxe to play on all star , thats like a big lie to myself i always played on HOF and got frustrated now and then even on current gen but this is getting out of hand ..i really need a solution QUICKKKK ..

Add loose ball awareness to the list of cpu cheese tactics/lazy tactics 2k uses to create fake difficulty.

It's been like this for a while, but your players often act just utterly stupid when it comes to loose balls. Take this play for example, i tip a pass with chalmers(the computer would of snatched the ball out of the air if they had read the pass how i did.) the tipped ball flies towards greg oden, bounces off the side of his arm, back towards chalmers, who suddenly becomes incapable of grabbing the ball, the ball bounces off of chalmers head, off a computers leg onto the ground and they snag it up(despite oden being right by the ball, 50/50 balls aren't 50/50 in this game because of how stupid your teammates are). Disgusting. I've also had plays where i notice a loose ball flies towards one of my players and they turn their back, as if to purposely make sure they don't get the ball. This game is so bad sometimes it's funny.

I completely understand the from MyPlayer perspective...since you can't use sliders...

but I am a bit confused as to how guys are using custom sliders and still feeling cheated. Given, the highest I will turn the difficulty is Superstar, I haven't had a one of "those games" in a LONG time. I'm a sliders guy, but I am a minimal sliders guy....I don't like changing all that much, for fear it throws the whole game out of wack. Given, some annoyances are pretty hard coded, it is what it is....but you can counteract a lot of the nonsense that goes on....at least I can....and I am no 2k guru.

Custom sliders are a definite must, but as you said, they don't solve everything. Some of this stuff is just problems with the game itself, and it's really annoying. Hell some of the big annoying issues can't be fixed with sliders(like me being closer to a loose ball but the ball just warping into the computers hand, through me or your teammate ai)

This type of thing aggravates me maybe more than anything else in this game but in this instance I could do nothing but laugh.

And that is definitely cheese/cheating. Because for the user, the computers arm barely has to graze the ball for it to get knocked out of your hands and straight into theirs.

I am so glad I found this thread. Cpu cheese is horrible. Cpu making impossible shots, getting like 10+ offensive rebounds per game (I play on 6 min quarters so thats alot), unnecessary help defense leaving cpu players wide open. And why they took out individual defensive settings (choosing to sag off, play tight deny ball, go over or under a screen, etc) is mind blowing. **** this game. Hopefully 2k15 will be better.

And to the people who are supposedly not having these problems. This nxt gen. if ur on ps4 there is a feature called "Live from Playstation" do a Live Broadcast and prove it.
