My opinion is that of the same. Last 2 years I haven't created my player, done MyGm, Park, My Team etc. All I play is a TONNE of Quick Games and Season games. And I'd give legends a fair run (ahead of all of the other modes) no question.....

But alas, we appear to be the minority...... and 2K need to appeal to the masses to make some money to keep improving our beloved hoops game.....

    But I hear ya man.....
    Thirded.

I can't even get into my player if I try. I didn't make a player this past installment either just skipped right by that opening.

Unfortunately it is the popular part of the game now. I wish THAT was a completely seperate game. They don't even let you use your guy on a current team roster so it's not like they're connected much at all.

I'm all about the actual game on the court as well. Legends are a huge plus because they SHOULD make some of the best players to play with, but you know that all goes out the window with no authenticity

Just like they used to do college hoops, perhaps they should invest in making a game for retro basketball heads, there's a huge market out there for it I'm guessing, at least.

I'm one of those guys who doesn't touch any of the other modes including online play, for the sole purpose of playing quick match or reg season with modified rosters including the legends, it's the only thing I'm interested in.

Problem is, seems the majority are just interested in fantasy modes like Myplayer which 2k happily invests a lot of their time on. Hell, they even draw in names like Spike Lee to help with the 'story'.

This is an NBA game, not a sports RPG.

You must be miserable then lol. I'm somewhat have ocd with my electronics too so when I go on 2k and see all these modes and emphasis on my player it stresses me out.. Because it feels like I'm spending money for a game I'm only using 10% of.

Heck I'm pretty sure in 15 you HAD to create a my player to even start the game. THAT drove me nuts. They really think that everyone cares about my player and their virtual currency stuff most.
I'm like.. I just want to play Bulls vs Warriors against my friend? So I create the fastest generic guy ever and he sits on my main screen (14 he did) the whole year.

It reminds me of those chia pet days like I'm expecting my my player guy to start saying things to me

"aren't you gonna play with me"

Totally forgot they even had a my career app where you could get more VC by hosting parties for neighbors and stuff...

        We're screwed dude.

They even hide quick match under NBA today now.. They're trying to get rid of us altogether

Will MJ actually look like MJ this year?

I hadn't bought an NBA basketball game since Live 97, until I saw a preview for 2K11 that had authentic retro teams, (a dream come true for me and I have been hooked ever since so I am in total agreement.

But I think it's important to remember how far we have come in the past 4 years.

In 2K11 there were only a few retro teams. And the ones picked totally revolved around Jordan Challenges. This meant NO 87 Lakers. Back then retro rosters included CAPS of over 200 players...and there was an export team feature that would glitch faces. You couldn't trade retro players to regular teams either.

In 2K12, they added a ton of new retro teams including the retro filters, and even gave the option of trading legend players. But I bet many have forgotten that the DLC that had all those Legend players designed for ONE MODE only in a street ball mode with no option to move players to regular teams. It was a glitch that was discovered and allowed us to move those players into quick play mode, and then later the mod guys and hex editing guys uploaded CFs and reditor which opened doors for creating retro rosters. It became clear later the main reason for 2K's push for the Legend teams was the lockout.

Since that time, they have offered little more in terms of classic teams. In fact, most of the legend CFs modded used were basically left on the disk from prior 2K games.

The reason I bring this up, is because in 4 years we ("us retro heads") have become pretty entitled and judgmental of the focus given to these classic teams, especially when you consider that 2K has NEVER been that focused on this aspect of the game. There has ALWAYS been aspects of these teams that roster creators have had to fix such as accessories, and adding missing players. In 2K11, if you wanted the 87 Lakers, you had to export the 91 Lakers and deal with face glitches.

So for me...I am grateful for ANY new teams slots and and ANY new players. I would absolutely buy a game dedicated to retro NBA, or even buy DLC classic teams. I could care less for fantasy modes. I just have to remind myself of where we used to be to appreciate what we got now.

Re: Will MJ actually look like MJ this year?

I dont know whats the point of these retro teams if they can't create accurate legends. Why add some more retro teams when the legends from last year are not accurate? I'd rather they focus on other things that make the game better than hyping the game as having retro teams when in fact most of the bench players are generic. I had to cancel my pre order because i think its really insulting to market a MJ special when the model itself does not resemble MJ. I play with retro teams in MYGM so i'll stick to last year's game and buy 2k16 when its discounted.

This is about where I am.

I don't ask for much. semi-accurate courts and player models are fine so long as the physics and tendencies are accurate. If a dude looks generic but plays like Kareem, I'm way more okay with that than a dude that looks exactly like Kareem but plays generic (2K12). I also don't necessarily need a complete roster. Just give me enough to play a full game without using CAPs.

A standalone retro game wouldn't sell enough to make up for all the extra cash they'd be spending on complete classic rosters, but I'm totally on board with DLC retro teams so long as we can take them online.

I'd love all the extra cosmetic stuff to be accurate, but let's get the important stuff accurate first and build around that. It sounds like 2K16 should be a good step in that direction with the authentic retro play-styles/defenses added to the game.

It's not a sports RPG, but it's also not a "I Love the 90's" basketball simulation.

Everyone has different interests. It’s understandable that the niche who isn’t getting the attention of the another is upset….but to disregard all the work czar and og but in the AI\gameplay….the work that that was done on MyLeague to fit the whole “All they care about is fantasy modes” argument is a bit irresponsible.

Wasn’t it Czar who pushed to have some more classic teams added after reading you guys thread last year? That was a good thread with a plan and good feedback, and that’s how you get attention.

I’m a big fan of classic\retro teams….I’m not going to freak out because MJ’s leg sleeve isn’t right, but I would also like a decent representation of the players\teams…I don’t even like the Celtics and their jersey situation drives me crazy.

All we can do right now is use all the avenues available to keep giving feedback.

Yeah if they really didn't care, they wouldn't have added 12 more teams this year (granted they were recent teams and really they only needed the rights to a handful of guys they didn't already have to make them) but it certainly shows they understand it matters to a small but still important segment of their customer base.

Now, I do have a bone to pick with them over the rasheed thing (announcing the 04 Pistons when they didn't have enough core players in the game to build a proper team was a bit disingenuous of them) but overall this game is easily the biggest improvement in that area since 2012.

Being able to play the 87 lakers against the 01 lakers, or the 86 celtics against the 08 celtics is really cool. God forbid they add rasheed post-release in a roster edit, you can pit the 89 bad boys against the 04 Pistons.

These are all really awesome generational matchups you couldn't play before.

This is Michael Jordan we are talking about. If they don't get anyone else right....ATLEAST get the man who you are using on your "special edition" front cover completely correct.

The conversation has evolved beyond Mike.

I do agree with you though, and we'll see....I'm not going to go off of a couple of camera phone screens.....but I absolutely agree they should get Mike right....

If he is indeed off again this year...the idea that "he's on the special edition, but his likeness isn't accurate" is a GREAT point to put out there to the devs and I will do my part to get that out there.....on here, social media and other avenues...

Yeah...jersey mistakes like that are worthy of being corrected in the patch. You just don't mess that sort of thing up. How that got passed quality control I have no idea.

That's the type of stuff that really makes me think. Like, I get not having time to pay attention to classic teams, but how in the world did someone on staff manage to go out of their way to add such terribly inaccurate details? As you said, neglecting Olajuwon and Walton would have left them more accurate than what they threw together there.
Exactly. These are the sort of things that give me the impression of slap-dash effort/carelessness when it comes to classics. Are these guys just guessing these details and/or going off memory? Or are they actually looking at photos, or game tape and referencing imagery from the relevant time-frame? It's one thing to just do a poor job artistically, it's another thing to just be completely and inexplicably off.
