Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I played a lot of MyCareer in 2K15 and have been nothing but MyTeam ever since. But I'm also moving to console from PC and I'm interested in getting back into MyPlayer stuff.
For MyCareer, I think I want to do a Post Scoring Rim Protector, with Hakeem as the archetypal model.
But I'm also interested in dabbling in MyPark/Playground play and, since I doubt I'll play with a crew, specifically interested in King of the Court 1-on-1 play. What do y'all think would be the most effective 1-on-1 build?
I'm thinking of maybe something like a Post Scoring Lockdown Defender Small Forward. Or maybe a Post Scoring Shot Creator Small Forward. Even if it's effective, I really don't want to play as a post-up big on small guards, monotonously bullying in the paint to make up for not being able to hang on the perimeter. For 1-on-1...
- Defense: Probably a big/strong small forward is the obvious best balance. Be able to do a credible job of tracking shot creating/slashing guards, while also not being a total pushover against post scoring bigs. But I'm also wondering if a PF in the mold of an AD can hang enough with quicker guards in halfcourt one-on-one.
- Offense: To me, the most fun offense is post-up and moving midrange in the mold of someone like Carmelo. If loading up offensively, maybe this would be a Post Scoring Shot Creator Small Forward?

Glass cleaner + Athletic finisher might be really underrated if you want to go duel archetype and still be a beast snagger if you factor in the little vert/speed bonus you should get from being half athletic.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
This is huge but what I don't get is HOF and gold badge allocation. So if you go dual you get no HOF badges? But going dual archetypes gets you 10 total gold badges? HOF badges aren't even that much more effective than gold ones at the end of the day.
Right now if this is the case I have to go post scoring/point forward power forward. The hit I take not being a pure post scorer will be forgiven by how solid I am passing the ball.
As of right now we have to have the info on rating caps for primaries and secondaries. If my defensive cap is considerably low I will have to make rim protector my secondary. I absolutely cannot be bad on D.

So what's the benefit of being a pure archetype then? Hmmm

Ok now THAT seems like a correct balance
That gives incentive to go ahead and be a pure archetype

Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
Well with the info given I assume sharp shooting playmakers and sharpshooting slashers will be most used wing archetypes. And bigs will most likely be glass cleaner stretch bigs and athletic finishing stretch bigs.
Knowing that most the community will likely forgo a defensive archetype I will probably lean more towards a 6' 10" Post Scoring playmaker. That will give me my HOF post scoring stuff along with the ability to throw oops and dribble.
Basically a direct Demarcus Cousins clone.
I think at 6' 10" and a low weight I'll be able to keep up with most players above 6' 8". I already know I'm going to be a solid defender so I don't think I'll have to supplement my post scoring but choosing a defensive archetype as my secondary

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
Im torn on whether to remake my 6'10 minimum weight Paint Protector from 2k17 as a pure defender or with a secondary. I think most people would have dual archetypes so the highest badge level they have would be gold, if i went with Pure Defender i would have HOF Defensive Stopper which would completely negate their offensive badges. For me it will come down to how much better HOF badges are than gold ones.Last edited by TheFinalEvent97; 08-31-2017, 08:49 PM.Comment

But in your case I think you have to account for the fact that it seems like rim protector badges don't work on the perimeter and this year more than ever will have more shooters so you could find yourself NEVER using your HOF rim protector badge. I thought rim protector as well with post as my secondary then I thought that most bigs will have a shooter as their secondary because they were so limited in 2k17 and will be ecstatic to finally have a high rating. I'd assume if you have bronze rim protector and great timing you'll still be able to block a lot of shots so idk if I can see rim protector being popular

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I'm just so happy for dual archetypes because this whole year Iv felt like Iv played like a Post scoring playmaker. I find so many guys for open shots and alley oops that I started to become pissed I could only get dimer and lob city passer on bronze.
I am ecstatic for this announcement

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
Whatever kind of pure archetype you are, that attribute will max out at 99. Example: If you're a pure sharpshooter your 3 pt rating will max at 99.
