I was thinking today about the MyCareer storyline of going undrafted only to dominate the league in your rookie year (for most people I assume), and how unrealistic it seems for people who are actually playing MyCareer in an immersive way. 2K are probably going to go back to the college to draft system for 2K19 I would guess, which I'll be happy with, but also a little sad to lose the control we have this year in choosing our team. It got me thinking about a hybrid concept.

I thought it would be good if after playing through college and earning your spot in the draft, you were allowed to choose specifically where you were taken. For instance if you do really well and you're projected to go third, the game would let you choose any spot from #3 downwards. You'd still have to dominate in college to earn the right to go #1, but it would give us a little bit of control so that we don't end up being taken by a team with a star player in the same position, or even just a team you really don't want to play for.

It feels like a decent compromise that could make almost everyone happy. What would make it even better would be having the choice mechanic an optional setting before you start your career, so that anyone who doesn't want to choose can just be drafted the classic way.

This mode hasn't been immersive since 2k11. No draft combine, No individual team workouts, No training camp, No Summer League, No D/G League(even when they had it it was impossibru to start there unless you purposely got F grades every game), No pre-season, no EuroLeague, no FIBA World Championships, No Olympics.

No, instead we get a story mode where our best friend blackmails us then dies(2k16), our girlfriend breaks up with us but no ****s are given(2k17), NBA players spout undiscernable dialogue to us all season(2k15), our childhood coach drops hints that he's in a relationship with our widowed mother(2k17). At least 2k14 had an actual on court rivalry with a character created to be hated instead of this game where we're buddy buddy with EVERYONE!

If it wasn't for online modes and acheivements I would just stick to All-Star team up because this mode has completely lost its appeal to me.

You can't use custom rosters anymore without doing some shady workaround. Using the SimWorld roster for my 2k13 MyCareer was the most fun I've ever had with this mode gameplay wise. Default rosters just can't compare.

It's impossible to be a big and not average 20 boards. Totally kills my immersion(and I don't cheese to get them).

When we're up 20 in the 4th the coach keeps me in and when I ask to sub out the sim acts like I'm still in the game. I asked to be subbed out with six minutes left, I had 22 points, when the game ends I have 34. Immersion dead.

I don't get why this mode can't be about basketball. Why can't we build our way up to the league like in MLB the Show? Why can't we play in the EuroLeague or G League? What happened to Summer League and the Draft Combine? Why have we NEVER had the option to play pre-season games?

A real rivalry with another team/player would be so cool. Not some pre-determined cutscene with a rookie that didn't pan out(Exum). A real rivalry that happens organically. Like the Pacers/Knicks rivalry or what's going on with Russ and Durant now.

I just don't get how the mode didn't pursue an actual NBA career and instead chose to go with a #$%@ Spike Lee Joint

2K half asses everything they do but they make sure to put max effort into finding new ways to scheme more money off consumers already paying $60 for a roster update.

1st in mycareer why the hell is the arena security guard on road games? Just another careless mistake.

2nd. Multiple times there is dialouge between my guy and another player in a cutscene that makes no sense..... example. Paul George is in town playing against my cavaliers. Paul says his parents are in town and they are going to dinner at some place... teh entire conversation is implied that Paul George and OKC are the home team which they are not. It is just stupid.. the cutscenes are already unbearable as they are but when everything is *** like that it makes it much worse.

And why the hell does your player cream himself every time he sees another NBA player??? Whne PG13 didnt want me to come to that dinner my player looked like he was gunna cry and then the camera pans out and im standing tehre alone..... **** is so damn lame. Just get rid of the cutscenes...no one wants to hear some asian trying to be black

Is anybody else not getting subbed out until the 4th quarter? They'll take me out if my fouls are too high. But I'll never come out before the 4th. I ask because of fatigue.

I haven't had that issue. Some games I'll play the entire 1st quarter and at least half of the 2nd quarter before they finally sub me out.

But playing the entirety of the first three quarters? That's odd.

I have the problem where a made a 6'3 SG on Memphis to go along with Conley, and they made me a SF.... Im guarding LeBron, Giannis, Kawhi, KD, everyone... AND IM 6'3 LMAO

Yeah. Initially your description of being subbed in & out was what I experienced. But in year 2, 30 games in, I was defaulted to playing 3 quarters plus straight. The only reason I even came out in the 4th was because most games weren't close. Close games, I'll play the entire thing. It's weird that everybody experiences different tings with the same game & same patches.

Welp just won the Finals with the Knicks with my Sharpshooting Shot Creator. Grinded out the playoffs Friday night and all of Saturday.

Lead them to a 54-27 record, #1 in the East after starting the season at the bottom of the conference.

Put up 27 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 steal 56 FG%, 42 3PT%, and 85 FT% in the regular season.

Really wanted to win this year because last year I was on the Pacers and the CPU completely embarrassed me in the 1st round. The team was offensively challenged and my Playmaking Point was good enough to carry the load offensively by himself. Plus everytime I got subbed out I would come back into the game down 10-20 points so it was virtually impossible to win. That Hall of Fame cheese. Went to Dallas the next season but I didn't enjoy the mode so I got about 20 games into the regular season before I just quit. Anyway this year my player could score at will and my team was much better so it was much easier.

Now round 1 we face the 8th seed Heat. We lose Game 1. Kelly Olynyk drains 5 threes and completely destroys us so I'm getting flashbacks of last year. I had a good game statistically (33/14/8) but I wasn't that aggressive so I decide to change up my entire gameplan. Game 2 my entire strategy was to attack Whiteside and get him in foul trouble. This strategy worked to perfection for the rest of the series as I put up 10+ free throws in the next 4 games and foul out Whiteside in 3 of 4. We beat them in 5 and I average 35 PTS, 8 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals on 55/50/93 percentages.

2nd round against the Hornets. Not much to say here. We sweep these guys. Pretty easy. I average 39 PTS, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals on on 64/31/89 percentages. Easy work.

Now in the Conference Finals we play against the Cavs of course. I was a little tense this series because in the last two games of the reular season Cleveland beat us but I also wasn't worried because that was only because the CPU would sub me out and we would be down double digits. That wasn't the case here. Another easy sweep. Ended up nearly blowing them out by 30 points in Game 4. Put up 35 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 steal on 65/45/94 percentages.

Now the Finals lol. I was praying we didn't get Golden State because I honestly don't know how I would have managed to keep up with their shooting. Fortunately we luck out and OKC beat them in 7. So now it's me vs PG13 and Westbrook. Was a tough series tbh. Lost Game 1, won Game 2, lost Game 3 and then beat them in Game 4,5, and 6. The hardest part was dealing with the offensive rebound bull****. These guys would miss a shot, get a BS rebound and go up with it and get an And 1. Straight BS. Had to beat these guys with the pick and roll. They would trap me or switch so I had to hit the open man or take advantage of the mismatch. Put up 34 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, on 51/17/91 percentages. Ended up averaging 35 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals on 57/31/92 for the entire playoffs.

Pretty much done with the mode though. Was a grind this year. Don't know where I would be right now if it wasn't for that VC glitch. Saved me hours of grinding. I'm about 50 percent from finishing the last bar to get to 90. Regardless, I enjoyed the mode this year. Loved using the practice facility to get badges, loved my Shot Creator/Sharp build. Last year my crap Playmaker couldn't hit a jump shot and was a crap finisher so I was pretty much relegated to being a slightly better Rajon Rondo and that killed my enjoyment of that mode. I'm happy I made the right build on my first try this year. Pretty much the most fun I've had playing My Player. I WON'T be missing the cheating AI though. The AI is good on defense but cheats like hell on offense.

Now my MyTeam grind begins.

Your best bet is to just to create them. (The black shoes) because I’m signed with Jordan and I have the same problem, the shoes are always white in most shoes. Now that you have the shoe endorsement make yourself some PEs in black then get them at Footlocker. All on court shoes are free including customs.

What are the cutscenes like in the second season? Are there any because I heard that when u sign with a new team in the offseason boo boo and the rest of the staff dissapear including the post game interviews with Shaq so I’m kinda wondering because I’m gonna stay in the same team just to keep that aspect of my career. I️ simmed one season and signed with another team as a test and after the game the player just skips thru the tunnel the goes to the locker lol which is kinda wack so I’m wondering if the cutscenes continue if you decide to stay with the same team. Right now I’m in the bulls but I️ kinda want to sign with the Knicks for the next season.

I've signed with the same team again, and the cutscenes are gone in that instance too. I'm pretty sure I still get postgame interviews though.

Somebody please tell me why they allowed shammy to have the #8 on the Lakers. The Lakers is the team I decided to sign with in mycareer and they have shammy as number 8. Its such a eye sore knowing that in real life the lakers are retiring 8 and 24 for kobe. And im not going to start mycareer over because im almost a 90. Just have to deal with it I guess.

Does anybody know if I will take Simmons' place in the starting lineup (when I eventually do lol) or will he be moved to PF? Because I dont want him to sit on the bench.

I’m thinking of starting a new my career but I can’t think of a team to go with the cavs or warriors that won’t be too much of a cheese. I want to be in a team that won’t lose a big lead in games and with consistent defense. I’m a playmaking Shot creator PG for the bulls and we suck, like more than they do in real life. I’m pretty sure I’m about to be starting soon but at this point I’m really not enjoying losing the way we do, especally if I’m putting up 20 10 12 off the bench smh. Anyone have any suggestions about what team I could go to and have a decent squad? I’m thinking about the rockets too but CP3 is starting and I wouldn’t like him coming off the bench.
