The 2 seem very connected. But your right.

Lol, I didn't see your post but yeah I agree. I think dead is the right because I can't say "broken" or "terrible" or anything. It does have it's good parts but like you say it's overall just so not enjoyable that it's not even a thought of mine to play it. I don't even play other games. My Xbox has just been playing Netflix and YouTube for the last few months

Re: YouTube community it’s claiming nba 2k18 is dead

I'm glad that 2K doesn't put out such a crappy product as Madden, but this year has been terrible in a different way (as a ProAM player). The VC pull/greed in MyCareer seeps through into every aspect of the mode in such a negative way it is tiring. The VC greed was obvious from the beginning, progression requires so much VC and is so slow. The game is fun but it takes so long for me to play the games because of walking through the neighborhood, inviting people to a proAM team, someone crashes, you needto put in 100 hours to make your character good, etc. The extra BS makes the game so draining for my experience since I really only enjoy proAM with friends. Those of you who do not play MyCareer most likely feel different but that is why this year has been so terrible for me. If I didn't have the VC glitch in the beginning I probably wouldn't have played the game at all

I'm just curious if any of yall go into the OS Non Sports Gaming forums and post why you don't play each and every one of those games?

          Asking for a friend.

This is the funniest thread I have ever seen on this forum.

How can you take comparing Fortnite to NBA 2K seriously whatsoever? The YouTube community is absolutely shot. Out of their minds.

Along with the lack of new content/gameplay updates, 2K's increasingly stingy MyPlayer/VC system also deserves a large part of the blame for turning people against 2K18.

In theory, the replay value for all of the MyPlayer modes in 2K18 should be incredibly high due to the dozens of different archetype combinations that you can create this year.

But in practice, the massive amount of VC that you need to make a new character plus the insanely long attribute/badge grind that you have to go through just to get one character to the point that he's performing to the full capabilities of his archetype make it a lot more difficult than it should be to keep yourself entertained by experimenting with new MyPlayer builds.

Last year, I felt like I was never short on VC, and I could get whatever I needed for my characters just by playing the game normally. In 2K17, I had a huge selection of clothes, socks, shoes, accessories, and celebration animations that I could reuse on multiple MyPlayers. This year, it has become so hard to get VC through regular gameplay that I haven't been able to buy a single piece of clothing or any of the celebration animations because I'm scraping together every cent of VC I can get just to pay for attribute upgrades and gameplay animations. And having a character that looks and acts like you want him to can play just as large a part in a game's fun factor as the character's skillset during gameplay.

If 2K is going to make the VC rewards for 2K19 as poor as they are in 2K18, then the only thing that we should have to spend VC on is the cosmetic stuff (emotes & clothes). The VC system in 2K18 clearly was designed to put gamers in a situation where they can barely afford to play the game normally and are pressured into paying for extra VC. And that kind of psychologically manipulative game design is going to put your players in a negative mindset from the moment they first turn on your game and realize that the entire suite of MyPlayer modes are primarily focused on maximizing microtransaction sales instead of making a fun and rewarding gameplay experience the top priority. The cloud of negativity that has been hovering around 2K18 since its release day is largely 2K's own doing, because the game is designed to be mentally frustrating and fatiguing, to the point that you finally just give in and pull out your credit card to solve said frustration.

You see, I don't play my player. But this is a real post. And I can totally feel for it. It's why I could never get into my player. And I'm sure this isn't going to change. Star War Battlefront just dropped loot boxes because of all the bad press it got. But people are also to blame here. They feed the system. Why wouldn't they make it a grind? Farming, glitches, or kids using money to buy VC.

But with all that said.... This thread still don't make sense lol. I'm sure it 2k released the numbers. You would find out that they made more money this year then last year.

NBA2K daily player numbers on PSN and XBL are higher right now than any other year at this time.

                    So no, it’s not dead.

Why would you go out of your way to post about a game you don't like?

People on this thread clearly love NBA 2K and want to enjoy It, but are upset at the decline in the series. It doesn't seem like nonsensical "bashing" to me; more disappointment and despair.

The game MAKES you blow layups to try and pull down your overall FG% to something closer to real life. I can't stand that. Some think thats sim. It's not. if I make the correct move and I'm open. For the most part I should almost never blow that layup. I blow a few layups per game. just like i drop a pass that I've already caught a few times a game or i see someone else do that a few times per game. just cause.

no one in real life, catches the ball. then waits 3 seconds then drops the ball out of bounds. that never happens.
Can a real life person drop a hot dime? YEP. is that the animation we're seeing? NOPE.

Do i have a problem with guys fumbling the ball? in certain situations depending on your hands thats an appropriate animation. but as often as it happens unless you have a play maker on the roster is ridiculous.
Most 80+ rated nba players are not juggling the ball like a clown at the circus on 50% of the passes. thats silly.

that juggling is there to give the defense a chance to react. again, FAKE. not real. thats artificially in the game to promote something else. take that nonsense out. and allow the defenders to react at a decent speed (not warp speed either). if the defender is late. oh well. he's late. he has to suffer the repercussions.

I like the animation where you guys i trying to save the ball and he tippy toes along the line sometimes its saved sometimes its out. thats real.

whats not real is when someone is standing in a direct straight line to you and passes you the ball and all of a sudden the ball carries you out of bounds. What type of ball are we playing with? Is this regulation? LOL. a real basketball weighs 20 to 22 OUNCES not pounds. Why is it so darn heavy like its a medicine ball in 2k18?
again, not realistic at all. those animations should have never been mo-capped. that never happens.

Can you throw an errant pass where the catcher tries to run fast to go get it and can't save it but reaches for it and goes out of bounds? YEs. but thats not what we're seeing. we're seeing that medicine ball situation take place.

all of this. And mind you im more of an offline sim guy.

IF WE COULD SKIP CUT SCENES THEN EVERYONE COULD EXPERIMENT FREELY AND SPEND GOBBS MORE OF VC THAN THEY CURRENTLY DO BECAUSE TO EVEN CREATE A CHARACTER THERE IS LITERALLY 45 MINUTES TILL YOUR FIRST GAME, WHERE YOU PLAY A TOTAL OF 5 MINUTES TO WATCH TEN MINUTES OF CUT SCENES BEFORE AND AFTER THE NEXT GAME AND THEN YOU GET AFTER GAME INTERVIEWS AND HAVE TO RUN TO THE WALK ON FOR CUT SCENES, CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES CUT SCENE, GO TO THE PRACTICE GYM CUT SCENE AND AAAAHHHHH FRIGGIN CUT SCENES!!!!

sorry for caps. Couldn't hold it in any longer.

I hope everything doesn’t take so long in the next game . Walk here , walk there , and cutscenes galore. Everything puts me in a cutscene . I rather have the menus back . It all just takes up too much time .

That is what I think Live does so well. The idea of the playground sounded so good, but something as simple as using menus to get to the store and to change outfits is hella underrated.

I don't get why they enjoy making the player experience as miserable as possible. I wonder what motivation is.
