Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?
Depends.
If fades -like this year- do not get help from shooting badges, but are made more reliable like Mike wang said, i go pure.
I started on the pc this year, playing a pure.
After finally getting a ps4 last month i did switch to a post/shot to make more use of the post hops.
So i’ll wait and see how the badge & stat distributions are before making a decision.

Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?
Last year, I started real late. Got the game around black Friday but didn't play until ASW. So I only really focused on one build. I created a 2nd one, but quickly didn't like build.
I'm thinking of only doing one build this year. So I want to be able to do a little of everything or 3 & D. It all depends on if they relax on restrictions on build. Preference would be able to create a Jaylen Brown type of build. Where I mainly want have an athletic wing who can slash, shoot 3s, and defend 2-4 spots. If it is similar to this years restrictions, then I will do a Playmaking Defender. I'm thinking of a 6'9 225 SF. Where I have abilty to pass and defend multiple positions and have the height to rebound and block/effect shots.
I will still wait to start career. I will wait until around opening day so I get up to date rosters. I wish they just let us play with custom rosters. It would make playing against AI more fun not playing with overrated players and playing with realistic tendencies. I have no desire to buy VC. So I will use My2k app to build up VC for 1st month and half and slowly grind playerComment

Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?
I'm basically going with one build myself. Now that MLO is a legit option, I'll probably be spending a lot of time with that, so I won't have my usual 3-4 builds. And I also got tired of dividing my rep up, though we have no idea what they'll do with that this year.
Probably just going to make a scoring/slashing point guard. We'll see what types of handles/passes it gets but if it's passable I'll opt out of a playmaker archetype.Comment

With the prelude dropping in about 15 hours, thought it was a good time to resurrect this thread given all that we've learned. Obviously we need to learn more about badges and how the stats shift...but
as of now, my first build will likely be some type of two-way guard. I'm debating between playmaker, shot creator, and slasher. Might also be enticed to a shot-creating play maker
For a big man, i'm really interested in a post scorer PF. The increased mid-range sold me. I'll probably couple it up with rim protector or glass cleaner.NBA: Wizards

I gotta admit after I saw some of the screen caps yesterday, I might have to rethink my original thoughts.
When I can see a list of the badges and caps it will make much more sense.
For now, I know for damn sure I'm going to have slasher in my build. Playmaker, shot creator will be the other.
Still not sure what's going to be primary and secondary.Comment

I’m still doing the slashing post scorer build first and some Scottie Pippen build second .
But I wonder what type would be the closest to a KG build#1 Laker fan

That Shot Creator/Playmaker is looking real nice.Comment

Yeah, I was a shot creating playmaker this year. Definitely switching to playmaking shot creator for more offensive ability. Better shooting and finishing at the rim, give up some passing and handles. I'll go an inch or two shorter than my 6'7 from 2k18 to make up for the speed difference since I'm at PG.Comment

If gameplay is as good as it looks/sounds so far I think I will definitely jump into MC this year.
I'm all about rebounding, blocking shots, hitting the open midrange...what would be the ideal build?

I would probably pick rebounding defender because defender having a higher level badge is more impactfulComment
