They were not kidding when they said all positions will stand out this year. It's really important to look through all the positions for your build because it looks like the badges will change quite a bit from each position.

For example I will go with a defense primary and sharpshooting secondary but I were not sure whether I should go SF or PF. However that quickly changed when I found out I would get both Rim Protector and Pickpocket on gold as a PF but only Rim protector on silver if I went SF. Big change for me. Plus PF also gives you HOF Charge Card.

The shooting badges remain mostly the same for SF and PF but if I were to create my build as a Center then all the shooting badges would be bronze. Big change.

Another example is the pure shot creator. If you create it as a pg you get silver catch & shoot and corner specialist. Very good but if you change your position to SG they actually go up to gold.

I really like this as long as they are not hiding any ratings from us because you really have to think about your build this year.

My initial thoughts are I’m not really feeling the max size. I didnt feel very athletic. Felt like I didn’t have much vert. Obviously it was only a couple of games against A.I. but I’m a little uncertain whether I want to proceed with this build. It’s possible with more badges/attributes that it will still feel dominant. But putting everything at max really kills your stats in shooting, speed, acceleration and vert.

Rebounds felt more organic and my height didn’t seem to make as much of a difference. I wasn’t really magnetizing to the ball as much. The times I jumped early, a lot of times I would miss the ball completely.

The biggest thing I’m unsure on is speed. I felt slow but the question is how much slower would I feel next to a 7’0 or 7’1 Center at 240. In previous years the difference hasn’t been signicant enough.

The truth is I hope they did nerf it but I’m nervous to make a smaller build and find myself struggling like I did 2 years ago.

I created a PG and have been thinking about switching to SG for this exact reason.

Does anybody know what the difference is (rating wise) between these two builds speed and ball handling?

I like that because it really makes you have to pick and choose your build wisely. I just wish they showed your max ratings in Prelude. That way you can be certain.

I will be able to play later tonight. I had plans on making a Defensive Slasher at SF. Now this makes me wonder what position. I don't want to do big this year because every year I do big or PG. I'm doing a PG in Live, so I want to do a wing. I wanted to do SF because I wanted to be able to do almost everything since I only plan on doing one build. A SG will most likely have higher athleticism. But Rim Protector will probably be Bronze. But if I could get higher steal badge, it'll be worth it.

I plan on waiting until Opening day to actually start playing. Want to wait until the up to date rosters are in. I have 0 plan on paying for VC. So I don't want to waste VC. So I won't upgrade player during the Prelude

I am not sure about ratings but I don't think they are different. The attribute caps don't change when switching position though so I would assume there is no difference if you keep same height/weight/wingspan.

Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?

Will be able to play prelude in over a hour or so. But just looked at 2klabs for badge comparisons. For Slashing Defender(Primary), the difference for SG and SF is that SF gets 4 more badges. That seems like the general consensus for SG and SF.
SG will probably be faster. It has Silver Free Throw Ace, Acrobat, and Silver Corner Specialist(all 3 are Bronze at SF). The Corner Specialist at Silver is really alluring because if I make a default wingspan build, I will be able to make corner 2 & 3s at a decent clip. It has Hall of Fame Quick Reflexes(Gold for SF).
But SF has Gold Brick Wall, Silver Rim Protector, Silver Hustle Rebounder, and Bronze PnRoller. Those are huge for me and SG doesn't have them. It'll allow me to play like a undersized big but with Athleticism of a wing. Gold Brick Wall and PnR together along with Gold Lob City Finisher, thats a deadly combination at the wing. I rather had Silver Free Throw Ace than Bronze, but last year as long as you had good timing you weren't missing many. I won't be able to shoot well without a Gold/HoF Dimer, but can still score of transition, slashing, and PnR. I don't care much for HoF Charge Card. I never attempted a charge or flop. I'm either getting the block or a foul. I rather had HoF Quick Reflexes. But last year, Quick Reflexes was so slow to progress after Bronze.
I'm going to go with the SF. If I was doing the SG, I would go with default wingspan and low weight, so I could shoot. But with the SF, I will go max wingspan and 6'8 225.

i was stuck in between making a shot creator/playmaker or playmaking/shot creator....

i liked the stats of the shot creator/playmaker but i ended up making a playmaking/sharp.
didn’t get a chance to play with him yet. hopefully this will be my main player.

if you want to have a respectable jumper power forward is the wave

if you just want to be a big body in the paint and rebound and dunk 7'3 is still OP

What I want to know is if we can get the posterizer badge but no contact dunk animations, is it still possible to get a contact dunk at all? Even if it’s rare? If not, what’s the point of having it as a badge? The build I am thinking about going with gets a bronze posterizer badge.

I know last year even if you had contact dunks but didn’t have the posterizer badge, I don’t believe you got them.

Yeah, I was wondering about stuff like this too.

I think last year to get the contact dunks you had to have driving dunk at 82. This year it's 85.

I was wondering, do some of the player dunk packages have contacts within them? I feel like posterizer triggers these more often. I could have sworn they do. My slashing shot creator will be able to equip all but 3 of them (Blake, Jordan, and some other weird Jordan I've never heard of)

I went with a shot creating athletic finisher. 6’11 PF. I’m really impressed with the mid range game. With a PG who knows what they’re doing I think pro am could be a lot of fun.

I’m less certain of that but time will tell. They really crush your stats at max size this year. Rebounds seem more random and I feel like I saw more balls actually ending up with other players instead of the usual 90% going to the biggest guy, even on my team with me controlling my 7’3 guy. That said, obviously I didn’t have all my badges and attributes.

Same thing I am rolling with. Super happy I can finally catch bodies again. It’s been about 2 years.

So hopefully, I can get back to my old 2K16 self and dunk in some people sometimes.
