After reading the my league blog, I'm curious to see if Player Mentorship will have an effect on MyCareer. Imagine having a mentor on your team and be able to learn/acquire a badge from a teammate that you werent able to equip if I read it right. Like if you were a Defensive Slasher PG and you play for Wizards and be able to aquire Lob City passer from John Wall.
Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?

It don't??????
Then what's the point? To me, if you have any defensive badges, then it should have an effect on the offensive badges. Period. Not that it matters. The offense has so many badges that trigger at once, that it's hard to play genuine defense. If they stack, an offensive player could trigger...
Limitless Range
Catch and Shoot
Deadeye
From someone with a Dimer badge
Heaven forbid if they're shooting from a hot spot
while the defense has...
Defensive Stopper
Pick Pocket would be nice if you could actually strip the ball.
Hopefully on ball steals is vastly improved. My center had up to 89 steal. So I thought I would be able to rack up steals. But I don't think I ever got an on ball steal that wasn't a bump steal. Didn't even try to grind for Pick PocketComment

If your defensive ratings aren't in the 90s and your defensive badges aren't gold or hall of fame in 2K18 then they might as well not even exist.
The only good two-way build this year was the two-way slasher/athletic finisher, and that wasn't because of his defense (it was still pretty weak), but because he got hall of fame finishing badges on offense.Comment

Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?
I'll wait a bit to buy the game to see how it works, including archetypes. But I'd like to make my "classic" playmaking PG, I don't know if primary or secondary and I also don't know which other pri/sec I'll get. In 2K18 I got shotcreator as secondary, and it worked quite decent once I got a respectable overall and got some badges, I might try another one like Slasher or Sharpshooter though. Still undecided.
I might also try to make a center this time, to change things up a bit. Probably focused on defense and/or rebounding, since I prefer to play as a role player than a scorer. I'll have to wait and see as well.Comment

Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?
Shake down was talking how we might be getting mentors in career. I HOPE it's not like you pick your mentor and THAT defines your archetype. I'm HOPING i can select my archetype and THEN my mentor. If that's the case, and i can create my playmaking slasher, slap him on the Mavs and have Dirk as my mentor to help improve my shot. If i could have a good dribbling, high finishing character with a decent shot? Oh it's over. I will John Wall your squad to death.
In 15 my internet was too slow for the rec. In 16 my buddy was always point so i worked on my off ball game all year. In 17 i had a playmaker 6'7 with no shot and rebounding maxed. I was a beast.
This year all my point guards had flaws. One couldn't shoot, the other couldn't speed boost. I made a point forward, he wasn't a point guard. LMFAO
Truly, if i could play a Westbrook/wall character i would be enamored with this game again.Comment

Where did you get that info from? Im pretty sure thats not correct. Silver defensive stopper will drop the opponents badges down two tiers no matter if its gold or HOF.Comment

Been running a two way SC all year . Almost 95.
Defense secondary has barely been useful.#1 Laker fan

Anyone of yall seen this post. I wonder how it will play out if you make a pure archetype. The way he says primary and secondary attributes kind of remind me how nba live 18 had those and how stats would get boost when you're hot and depending on which trait u had equipped. Ugh. That sounds atrocious...
******* it man. That sounds so ridiculously arcadey. Obviously still have a lot to see in person, but this really screams over the top of everything a sim player doesn't want.Last edited by ph33; 08-09-2018, 10:39 AM.Comment

Alright so from the sounds of it, a pure sharp will be absolutely godlike on fire...
Like dam I'm kinda upset...they really need some more info on this soon...
To play it safe I ain't doing no dual type for my first build this time.
I'ma make either a pg pure playmaker or a sg pure sharp...to me that's the safest bet to not waste money or vc.

I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

I know one thing for sure. No more short players for me. If i do make a PG he will be the max height and arm length. There's no point in playing shorter characters.Comment

Need more info because it seems like it will be OP. Is it a total of 12 points to primary attributes or + 12 to each primary attribute. So if a Pure Sharp is maxed out 3pt, if he is hot, it sounds like he wont be missing.
Does it include physical ratings as well? Like if you have a Slasher as primary build. Will his speed go up +12? I wouldn't want to see someone with 87 speed get to 99 speed just because he is hotComment

Re: Assuming archetypes are similar in 2k19, what you making?
In 2k18 being on fire grants you a +10 to all attributes except for athleticism and dunking
Assuming badges are boosted 1 level this is what a 6'11 PF Two Way Athletic would look like when in Takeover mode
99 Shot Close
91 Driving Layup
99 Standing Dunk
99 Driving Dunk
99 Contact Dunk
99 Standing Layup
86 Block
86 Steal
