You'll still see some slashers/athletic finishers in the rec center, but that's just because most of the people in there don't know any better and are still trying to play this game like it was 2K18 back when athletic finishers were unstoppable inside. Whenever I see someone with an awful win/loss record in rec, it's usually some sort of slasher/athletic finisher. Those two archetypes have gone extinct this year in team pro am because of how easy it is to contest layups and dunks into misses compared to how hard it is to contest jump shots into misses. The only things slashers/athletics are good for in 2K19 are alley oops and takeover cheese. And there are so many other superior archetypes who can consistently catch alley oops that the takeover cheese is really slashers'/athletics' only selling point.
As soon as you play a team that knows how to switch or rotate during pick and rolls, a glass cleaner becomes a useless player on offense, because he isn't able to do anything as long as there's a defender staying between him and the basket. It's also tough for glass cleaners to do anything on defense aside from standing in the paint like a statue due to their lack of athleticism and inability to cover very much floor space.
It's just not worth the extra 3 or 4 rebounds a game to make a character that's so slow on defense and so unskilled on offense. At least go sharp rebounder or rebounding post scorer if you absolutely insist on putting rebounding in your build so that you can contribute something on offense besides screens and dunks. The sharp rebounder can at least space the floor for your teammates, and the rebounding post scorer does have effective back to the basket moves.
You'll need the hall of fame post badges to combat the silver defensive stopper that all those glass cleaners have. And you'll need the maxed out height to shoot and finish over contests with as little penalty as possible.
