Re: NBA 2K19 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips, Plays, Defense
I've been working on making sure I try to get players I'm controlling back after a miss instead of "watching" my shot. It helps. I still think the AI does too much ball watching on fast breaks.Steam: BahnzoComment

Is this move in the game? Or Rondo’s dream shake, I triggered the dream shake before but have no idea how to get it triggered consistently.
But the main question is how the hell do you do a simple off the dribble fade away/leaner? Last year all you had to do was drive right or left, and move the shot stick in that direction and the player should do the T Mac, Kobe, Vince Carter fade away. This year I try it and I get a standard jumpshot or it can trigger randomly help pleaseAdd me om PSN for a good game of basketball!

to do a leaner let go of R2 and push the LS to the direction you want to do a fade away.Comment

Re: NBA 2K19 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips, Plays, Defense
Hey y'all, I'm having two issues:
1. The offensive CPU just pushes my players around. How do I set my feet and hold position, as getting just moved under the basket and scored on his getting upsetting? Intense-D is doing nothing.
2. Is anything finding that soft-hedge isn't working correctly. My players are hard hedging every time and it's getting me killed on pick n roll, and if I use catch hedge I get killed with mid-range shotsComment

Only tip that I can give when playing against the CPU NBA Today games is to play offball. If you play as a center and run back fast this limits those cheesy inside passes that the CPU loves to do. Gonna have to swallow that pride and let the CPU PG defend CPU offensive PG.

Soft hedge works okay when the offense plays pick and fade

Re: NBA 2K19 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips, Plays, Defense
I’m trying to figure out the best layup to use while driving. I’m using absolute controls. I watched Sam Pham’s video but I just want to be sure I’m doing it correctly.
What I’ve been doing is moving the shot stick in the opposite direction of the defender. So if the guy is on my right, I’ll move the stick to the left.
Is this the proper way to do what Sam Pham does?Comment

But also what you said...getting a big man and dragging him into the paint. The damn cpu has a knack of throwing long TD passes if there's a guy open in the paint, and they seem to do it right on point of course.
I still think the AI doesn't run out to protect against shooters. And for that matter, my 3pt guys almost never run to the corner or stay out on the break. Dummies are always slashing to basket to get their shot blocked.Steam: BahnzoComment

How do you do that little shoulder push off in the post when you’re using a big man before a layup. I see the CPU do it all the time in MyCareer with ADComment

Re: NBA 2K19 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips, Plays, Defense
I’m a world class idiot. I previously posted a question asking if soft-hedging was causing problems, and I figured out why it wasn’t working for me.
If you tell your defense to go under a screen AND soft-hedge your defenders just smash into each other, and you end up giving up a lane to basket and space to the shooter.
It seems so obvious now but man that was killing me. I gave up 36/7/10 to D. Russell because I could not keep him from his spots and his 1-5 pick n roll was destroying me.
Don’t use Soft-Hedge with Go Under.

Lol! Alright but soft hedge and under is my go-to setting for shooters and setting to moderate (or tight) for onball. It works fine for me.

Re: NBA 2K19 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips, Plays, Defense
Do you switch? Because I don’t and my hedge man would come up to soft hedge while my player still fought to get back in position, which left the screener with a wide open lane to the rim. If there is a way to make it work, I’m all ears.
But going under and soft hedging has been killing my ability to protect the paint and in-between space
