Also, is there any where (or anyone willing) to explain some of the different terminology used for plays in-game? ie: Fist, Punch, Give, Quick, etc. So when a play is called, if I'm not familiar with it, surely it's name/terms will at least give me a quick idea of what it's doing, right?

If u are talking about editing player's hot/cold spots, go edit the player.

If u like to keep them default and just view hot/cold spots, go to practice mode and hit the "select" button.
Sorry I dont know how to describe that button name but its just next to the "start" button. Start button is the one u use to pause the game. If "select" cannot work, try tapping left or right on dpad.

FIST - pick and roll play
    PUNCH - post up play
    GIVE - handoff play
QUICK - mid range or 3 PT play
The numbers refer to the position number. For FIST 15 HIGH, u have yor ball handler (1) running a PNR action with yor Center (5) just after mid court. Whether yor Center rolls to the paint or pop to the 3 pt line or mid range depends on the player tendency (yor AI teammate). You can also run this with your power forward (4). Just assign the play to him and make sure u have PNR MAN assigned to him and u are good to go. Where to assign? Go to Coaching Menu, Editing Plays and once u are at the screen, tab RT to switch to player's play assignment screen. u can assign up to 4 play types.
FIST 19 have your Center and power forward a double screen action at the top of the key. As u can see, 4+5 = 9. 1 is yor ball handler and hence, 19. Note: This play is taken out from playbook, so u cant fond it there now. But the play is still in game. u have to call one of the SERIES or Freelance play, I couldnt remember.
If u see a mix of PUNCH & QUICK in a play name, it means it has a combo of those plays in a single play.
If u see STS, it means screen the screener play.

    Hope this helps.

If I use the right stick I’m out of position and it’s an easy bucket for the AI Because the post fadeaway create so much space, and if I use triangle to jump into position and it’s a pump fake then I can’t recover to defend and I get scored on.

I notice jump to contest works fairly well. Its not 100% but I saw misses. Having said, I have Giannis on my team so the contest is definitely present.

Time yor jump. If u are on default game speed u should be able to time it easier. The moment the player turns and lift his feet from the ground, tap it. In the last 2K, RT + jump had a slower reaction time. Try this in 19 and see if it works.

I wont recommend that u jump the moment u see the player turns. For one, the Cpu (or human) can fake the shot. Two, some players' fadeaway create a ton of space. So if u anticipate a fadeaway move, the moment he spins, use the left stick to move the player towards the spin and time the jump (look at the feet). I havent seen a lot of shooting fouls, so its fine to move and jump towards the shooting action.

I'm currently getting into the Freelance Offense, but I don't know about every freelance. Is there an overview or something where I can see the strengths and weaknesses of every Freelance? Or for what they are good?

For example, I run "Flow" a lot when I want some movement and getting shooters open, alternatively "Pace". I use Flip Push to get some easy Layups. That are the ones I know about and how to utilize them, but I still don't know how to use "21 Delay", "Philly Elbow" or "43 Motion" that I often read about or see. Any recommendations?

          Thank, greetings from Germany

            1) Hold L2.
            2) Think its tab R1 again to leave icon passing.

I havent played 2k in two years but im back for MLO. but before i start im trying to figure out the game. ive been spending time trying to create space in 1-1 for a non contested shot. the computer seems to be able to drain the same shot im not.

              sooo..

              1. best indicator to follow to have perfect release. i used to look at the players body language. but ive been following the meter and just cant seem to get either down.

              2. what is the best way to create space. i was using tmac on alltime orlando and i simply wasnt able to create space or even beat a player to get to the hoop. and if i did it seemed the lanes were clogged evertime.

              thanks in advance

Anything on what the defensive adjustments are? There's things like "Stay Home" and "No Threes" (that's obvious I think) and others. But I can't find anything that talks about what they do.

What I could really use, is some help in how to adjust to situations in game. Like when I'm getting pounded down low....how do I help that with adjustments?

I'm really impressed with how deep this game can seem, but I'm so lost sometimes w/o any sort of detailed manual which of course never comes with games nowadays.

Earlier on I was suggesting jump to contest.
Czar suggested using right stick to contest it. Note that u can set to 'Absolute' on pro-stick defense in the controller setting. To contest hands up, 'tap' right stick up (not hold). If u are on 'Camera Relative', there's a chance u tap towards or backwards depending on which cam u playing and u may not get the hands up animation, which can be fairly effective contest. So, Absolute could be a wiser choice.
Try and see if it works?

He also mentioned jump to contest has the highest quality of shot contest, but u get high chance to foul too. So, pick yor poise.

How do I call up a series?

I thought it said DPad right, but when I do this, I am only able to access the freelance menu (at least when I am playing offline...online the whole menu is not working).

Somebody teach me how to hit a floater.

I’m missing open floaters it’s like ratings don’t matter, you gotta hunt for excellent releases.
                        A late/open floater is a guaranteed brick.

Is this what shooting has become so you tubers can say there is a skills gap?

In the video he posted today, there's a "jump contest", which is left stick away from the player and Triangle/Y. It jumps straight up and like you said is the best contest.
