Has anyone figured out how to dunk out of a layup animation? Saw someone do it out of a euro step the other day

I prefer to do it during timeout. Hit X for coach mode and then Y for gameplan and scroll through the pages using RT or LT. Under Primary u can choose Series, amd below Series u can choose the various set. I like to keep ACE on. So for the first few plays ACE will run the series set, afterwhich it goes back to the freelance offense.

How do you do elbow clear out after grabbing a rebound? Is that only for glass cleaners takeover? This should help the steal spam whenever my big would grab a rebound.

Has anyone figured out now to play lockdown on ball defense on fast players when they try to break your ankles? I usually can stay in front of them for a while but then they end up blowing by me. Maybe I'm just too slow with the stick or should I avoid pressing LT or RT when trying to lock them down? Do you use the push a lot?
Also how do you do the CP3 move to create space by using his body to put the defenders out of rythm?
Disclaimer: sorry if it was already asked, atm I don't have much time to go and check that out. If it was already discussed just say it and I'll search it asap. Thank you everyone.Comment

Re: NBA 2K19 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips, Plays, Defense
If a computer calls a switch on defense for a pick and roll, is there a way to actually force the switch? It feels like many times they call it, i get on the other guy and the computer happens to stay home and my person gets wide open. I understand if this happens when the pick isnt taken at all, but there are times when i get caught on the pick and my teamate wont switch despite asking me to.Comment

Not sure if anyone knows this but for the escape crosses if you don't like doing the double flick you can do 1 flick and press LT just before the ball reaches the hand.
Makes it a little easier sometimes..

Feather the LT and RT, no need to hold them all the time.
I feel the mechanics in 2K19 allow me to stay with the ball handler without help of LT. Still, I find myself pressing unknowly.
When u retreat, instead of moving back or move in the same direction as the ball handler, move at an angle and give yorself some space between u and the ball handler. Eg. if u anticipate the dribbler going left (Harden a strong lefty, check the tendencies), then move yor feet to the "spot" where u think he will go (cut him off the dribble). So imagine u on 2K cam guarding Harden with yor back to the hoop, u see Harden goes left - yor immediate reaction (the brain tells u so) is to move LS to the left horizontally. No, dun do that. Move LS left+down at an angle. If u move horizontally and assuming ankles not broken, u will have hip-riding animation with Harden driving past u eventually. All blow bys with crossover moves require space and a turning angle. So, u wait at that spot to cut off the dribble. In 2K17, sometimes I got called for blocking foul.
As I said in my earlier post, stay discipline and dun move yor feet unnecessarily when the cpu is doing signature size-ups or hesitation escape (big handles) and bait u into moving yor feet. Of cos, if u give too much space, cpu will pull up. Check their pull up tendencies. With low tendency, then give yorself more space. u can only do this before game I suppose. So, prepare for the "game".
Blow by is so common irl, so dun get so workout if u are the victim. Adjust yor defensive settings with a gameplan i.e. protect paint, double team, leave the non-shooter open etc. Live and die by the gameplan.
I'm talking about myleague gameplay, not sure if it works in mypark or blacktop or other modes.
What is the "push" that u mentioned?
Also how do you do the CP3 move to create space by using his body to put the defenders out of rythm
u r not talking about the snake dribble right? have a video to illustrate?

First of all thank you for the long and detailed replay. I'll try all of your tips. I think my main mistakes are: moving my feet too much and using L2 way too much. Also I guess I can't use angles correctly, let's say that what I tried to do so far is to play a Tony Allen type of defense by trying to stay in front of the ball handler and push him to a spot. I did this not because I think this is any good but simply because it's the only way to reduce the number of times I have to change directions. In fact I usually lose my man by getting stucked in slow defensive animations like the one for the change of direction, it seems like by the time I react because of how slow the animation is I always get blown by. Probably that happens cause I use L2+R2 a lot. When you try to cover angles and establish the right position do you sprint to the spot or do you just use the left stick? Also how do you contest a shot when the defender gets closer to the basket, do you use RS or triangle? Cause I feel like that animation has a bit of delay as well. Let's say that I'm in front of my opponent while he is close to the basket and I was able to force him to stop his dribbles, what usually happens is he pulls up but I'm still stuck in a sliding animation and before the contest animation kicks in he already let the ball go. When the contest animation kicks he is eventually already going for the board, in fact most of the offensive rebounds after layups are grabbed by the same player who shots the layup. I just feel like there's a huge difference in delay in between offensive and defensive animations when the users is playing defense and the CPU Is attacking.
Also great advice on tendecies, I'll try to check that out more as I'm basically playing MyLeague full time. I think with this and cutting angles a bit more I'll improve a bit, cause at this point I don't understand if I need to get used to this defensive system or if the animation delay I talked about is true.
By saying "the push" I meant pressing circle while close to your mean, sorry for not being specific at all lol.
And I can't find a footage of CP3 doing that, I'll search more. Let's say that after he does the snake dribble the defender Is behind him trying to come back, it's like he pushes him away with his lower body in order to created the separation he needs and then he pulls up.Comment
