Re: Angryjoe's 2k take.
Just watch Shakes video from 4:00- 6:00. You'll learn exactly what purpose the slot machine actually serves.
There's a lot of assumptions and false equivalicies being thrown around and a lot of dudes havent even seen the MyTeam main menu. Just watch.
If you think it's about choosing sides at this point, you are the problem.Comment

Re: Angryjoe's 2k take.
Ignorance is bliss and this thread has some really happy posters. I would argue a T or M rating but once again, Take Two CEO is chairman on the ESRB. At least the Mafia tried to hide their deceitful practices. EA just renames it and 2K makes a video promoting it.Comment

EDIT: as a matter of fact, put a slot machine in front of anyone over the age of 9 and ask them what comes to mind.Comment

Re: Angryjoe's 2k take.
Some people are able to see the bigger picture. The gambling mechanics are intentional, even the ones that do not cost money to play. They are preying on kids the same way the cigarettes companies did. This has been studied and is a known fact. Publishers have even come out to say they have people on their staff or contract workers that their only job is to find ways to make money after the retail sale. Using the same techniques that you would see in a casino.
Only difference. Be sure and read this part CAREFULLY. Kids are not able to legally gamble in a Casino. They are on the other hand able to purchase NBA 2K20 because it is rated E for Everybody.Comment

Re: Angryjoe's 2k take.
Playing a NBA game and getting free stuff afterwards is wrong? You're going to play the game anyway with or without the slot machine in it, right? So....Comment

While I doubt you will take the time to read it... Here is one of a million different articles that explains the psychology behind why those slots/loot boxes, etc exist.

Re: Angryjoe's 2k take.
Key word here is "encouraging". Using slot machines encourages gambling. Put 2K's slot machine in front of a gambling addict and ask them what it reminds them of. Not a single one of those people is going to say, "Ah, this reminds me of those wonderful surprise mechanics that gives me free gifts!". They're all gonna say, "gambling". Point, blank, that time of the month.

Exactly, those slot machine moments are rewards on top of your reward for winning. You aren't inserting actual money or VC into the slot machine. Sounds like you guys are just using kids as a cover for your own interests.Comment
