As for the experience, ehhhhh I dunno. I have fun because the actual gameplay is better but I think the balancing is going to be a huge issue like I was afraid of. You’d think that with everyone being a Demi god, it would maybe even out but the reality is offense rules the day when online input lag is in play. It’s frankly hard to stay in front of guys unless you gap them but when everyone can shoot, you’re pooched. Once a guy is at your hip, with driving dunk at 95, badges and contacts overtuned - it’s curtains.

I’m exaggerating a slight bit but it’s really tough to defend anyone who can dribble and shoot now. I guess you could call it a “skill gap” but it feels like it came at the expense of basketball IQ and ball movement.

Okay. Kinda what I thought, and we did touch on this subject about demigods in the MyBuilder thread when everyone was trying to guess what the experience would be like. I know people didn't like the pie charts, but at least you couldn't sacrifice ratings to build an OP character.

Like clockwork, everyone did EXACTLY what I thought they would do. Create builds that could drive and dunk, but had high shooting ratings were you can't sag off them. Although, I didn't think it would be the PF spot. I just knew it this would be the year of the SF.

Welp...I guess there's no rush in trying to play the mode. I created my center, but if PFs are playing as undersized centers at times, I can't see myself realistically holding my own without a 3PT shot.

I'm thinking of making a 7'3 290 C to beat up on these 25 interior defense midgets

Yeah you're probably right. It's easy to spot them too.... Iso dribble 20 seconds then pass or take a bad shot.

I really feel like we need a blacklist of gamertags for all these bums just to push back. I guess I just gotta stay offline for awhile until more people on my friends list get a system. Even LFG is bad. Played with a LFG team where I was full court pressing and locking up their PG. In that span we came back 10 pts. Yet the guy was b***n on mic because he didn't understand how to rotate and told me to just "guard my guy". Then last game I ran with randoms, buddy ballers 4 life. We lost by 40 and I touched the ball like 2x. There are actual SQUADS, in parties, LOSING BY 40 in Rec. If you're in a squad and are losing by 40, just delete the game. Down 40, idk might wanna change your philosophy and pass to the 5th, just saying. These people are hella smart...

What do you do when 90% of the community are braindead short bus crackheads. Maybe I'll come full circle and go back to PNO lol. The one thing about PNO is it's nice to not have to rely on other players to win.

I'm just wondering if this is a society thing. Is America getting stupider?

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

It is kind of laughable (but also very frustrating) how they essentially made rec worse this year by adding 60 overall AIs and eliminating the one (sort-of) skill-based matchmaking method they had with the 92 and under lobbies. As I stated several times earlier in this thread, I fully admit the 92 overall based matchmaking was FAR from perfect, but it at least sort of gave people without full squads a place where they were less likely to face try-hard squads.

I also agree with what some people said above in that REC was particularly bad for the first week or so of the game's release when park was either A.) unplayable due to the lag on the 3s courts, and/or B.) Terrible Rep in park. This basically forced a lot of park players into Rec which obviously makes for a bad experience all around (they don't really want to be there, and us Rec players don't really want them and their playstyles in Rec).

The kind of ironic thing is that from a rep standpoint since it is all tied to teammate grade this year you might assume people may be a bit more willing to actually pass and such. However it seems like the fact that so many people have "demigod" builds they want to try to do everything this year which (when combined with the park mentality) has lead to even worse over dribbling than previous 2ks.

Lol yeah it is laughable. They managed to take the worst matchmaking in gaming and somehow make it worse.

I have more of a problem with the combination of trollish 2K dynamics + the majority trash 2K community, sans OS But yeah, majority... 2K online is the virtual replication of the movie Idiocracy. The collective IQ is way below average. It's literally offensive how stupid some of these people are lmao. Like I'm OFFENDED as a minimum average iq human lmao. And it's not just randoms, Looking for Group isn't an automatic W either. Even my friends list, even though some are decent, I'd say about 10% are 'favorities' and 5% I'd actually trust to be on their team in a wager match. And it's not "well theyre all just kids playing a videogame". You wouldn't believe how many teammates I had who were fully grown adults in their 20s 30s 40s in their avatars or on mic, and they had a midget brain. Some of these are people with 100s or 1000s of games played.

I even asked my girlfriend some basketball IQ questions. 'Cause really, I'm not asking for much to be able to play a few games without severely mentally challenged people. I literally drew out a few x's & o's basketball scenarios on a piece of paper and asked her "so in this, what would be the COMMON SENSE play?". She - someone with average iq and who has never played basketball - was able to figure it out almost immediately. Yet most adult randoms on 2K can't even figure out how to make a simple add 2+2 basketball play - or they refuse to because they're selfish bums, or maybe they're just trolls. Great, I understand the perspective of just wanting to hoop and f around, maybe get lit or have a beer. But dude, why are you playing a multiplayer more Sim 5v5 mode if that's the case? Go play park with that bs or stay offline.

People talk about "systemic racism" or "systemic income inequality" etc. but does anyone talk about "systemic ignorance" in America? I'll be the first to protest for that lmao.

                The 2K community is trash...

                1) At the very "top" you have a company catering to arcade idiots with trollish in-game dynamics like terrible matchmaking for multiple years.

                2) At the "top" in the community you have arcade park guys like Agent00 or ImDavis or large twitter accounts disproportionately and negatively influencing the direction 2K goes.

                3) At the comp "top" you have iso gawds, build masters, and non-irl balling basement dwellers only looking at the game through the perspective of OP builds, glitchy jumpers, data, triggering animations, and the "meta", all to gain a GAME exploit advantage. I don't blame them cuz there's money on the line, but let's not confuse gaming exploits and advantages with actual basketball iq.

So these ingredients = sim gamers more and more marginalized and the game keeps going in a glitchy arcade direction.

I'm a perfectionist. If people are playing a style that does not resemble ball but succeeding, I'll find my place and do what is necessary. It's not even ragey or stressful, it's just depressing.

People do so many things that are so passive aggressive and selfish. It's not just that people suck.

I'm cool w getting my 800 vc and moving on but watching people get in time out battles or whatever, it's just toxic. It almost needs a level or moderation.

I think they should at least add in some heavy teammate penalties to certain actions. Like if you time someone out who is gonna take an open shot, drive, whatever, you should lose like 3 teammate grades. Same with 3 seconds. If you just run into the paint and get 3 sec. Or if you start Rollin the ball inbounds. Or maybe they should add teammate grade and then sportsmanship rating that shows up how much you flop, call time outs on people, call for ball from cpu every time after you make people quit etc.

I'm generally not arguing directly with people I'm trying to explain they are wrong about blaming people. We lose as a team.

And quitting haha you still lose so why quit. It's not Randoms in general, ya'll are all Randoms yknow haha. I've almost never had beef with anyone on a forum. It's just really toxic behavior. It's not bball related at all. Well a little but that's not what makes it lame. You don't run into that level stuff even in real life or I haven't. Not your own team. People might tell me not to shoot or to pass when they think I'm messing up, but they're not gonna to into full melt down mode. And if there is stuff to discuss, it's for after the game.

Dudes are using the game to torture people when they dont get their way. It should not be allowed.

The sad thing is the number 1 driver of rep this year is teammate grade, yet people still seem to be content to try to ball hog and get Cs and little rep etc, when really it is almost impossible to get an A of any kind as a guard unless you are passing the ball.

I will say they did make teammate grade a bit more challenging to maintain this year, but in my opinion it is still too easy to be a detriment to the team and remain in the game. This is largely because there are no penalties for leave assignment (an ode to teams that run zone), almost no penalty for bad shot selection/hold ball too long etc. Really the only huge penalty this year is for turnovers, which does help contain the saboteurs who try to get 3 second violations, or refuse to inbound the ball, but doesn't really hurt the saboteurs who play no D or take horrible shots.

I do think a vote to kick option is the solution I would prefer to eliminate the most toxic players in rec. You would obviously need to design enough caveats to prevent squads of 3-4 from just booting their random teammates for no reason... my initial idea would be that the person would need a D+ teammate grade or worse, and it would have to be at least one quarter into the game for that player to be eligible to be kicked.

I used to want a vote to kick but Iv accepted it would never work out

Even if they did the thing where you can’t kick until the 2nd quarter your still be kicked by squads. Let’s say you started 1-4 because of some missed shots. You’d be kicked as soon as the quarter started. You know how many times Iv started 1-4ish and finished with like 12-16? That would not be possible in a vote to kick system

Rainbow Six Siege has made me never want a vote to kick in 2k. The 2k community is too toxic. You would literally be getting kicked for missing 1 shot and not getting some guy his assist
