But as a real life basketball player you also know that you are not gonna make it 70% of the time... LOL.

The lies you tell. I know the difference between "It felt good when it left my hand" and "Oh crap! It's off! It's off!". Doesn't mean one is a guaranteed make and the other is a guaranteed miss.

I began playing before you was even born....

It's amazing, no one who has been playing basketball for 10 plus years could make that statement in good faith. If you like the green guaranteed makes just say so, but don't say stuff that isn't true to support it. Everyone who plays has airballed shots that just "knew" was straight cash, and everyone has swished shots that they were crashing the glass to get the rebound for because it was so off.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

            Exactly!

I know that I hit my fair share of ugly shots that banked in, lol.

Yeah, I think the "feel of a release" that people talk about is more akin to the shot feedback in older 2K games than anything. While our own internal sense can be a fairly accurate assessment, it is by no means foolproof.

Even at the NBA level we've seen players shoot it and turn to go back on defense only to look a bit foolish when it doesn't go in; we've also seen players throw up a low percentage prayer then look a bit befuddled when it gets a little shooters roll and actually drops in.

The shot release process should be complicated further, I mean so that timing and luck aren't the only two things that are important. Because that's the way it is now for sure.

Dwight howard can perfectly release 100 shots from the logo in real life, odds are he will barely make 10….

A perfect release is not a guaranteed in real life and thus should never be a guaranteed in a video game.

How many perfect releases are you seeing with Dwight on any jumpers, let alone logo threes?

Openness, player ratings, set vs moving, etc. also matter.

Re: 2K desperately needs to move away from guaranteed makes/greens

I have a perfect illustration to back up how problematic I feel the focus on shot timing is. I jumped back on last gen 21 last night to play with some friends after a 6 month absence due to getting new gen and just liking other game experiences better. Looking at my stats my 3pt average for park was over 71% and my 3on3 proam 3pt. average was just over 70%. Just that alone is absurd when you think of it. Yes I was a very good player, and played with a good big that set me a ton of screens but to be able to achieve those percentages is a bit disgusting from a basketball purist mindset. This is where it gets interesting. I still remembered all the dribble combos and speedboosting techniques so I was able to pretty much generate the same types of looks at will as I always used to. But the caveat is I have played next gen with the same jumper but the timing is slightly different do to player size, arm length, build etc. So now my timing was off probably 10-20 milliseconds and I suddenly for the night shot around 30% from 3. So because my timing was slightly off I basically went from being a 3on3 2k demigod to being a complete liability even though I was shooting the same types of shots. Maybe they nerfed the jumper since I have been gone I dont know, but that in itself shows you how crazy important the timing of a single button press has become in this game.

Now lets factor in how this effects users that are playing with a screen that has high input lag or a worn out controller button ect. You could have the highest basketball IQ on the planet and still fail at the game because you fail to time a single button press correctly. Lets also factor in players using perfect release scripts and how greatly this one factor swings the ability for even a decent player to compete with a cheater.

If the game still is built this way I am done with the franchise. Even though I am good at it, it is not basketball, and to me it just isn't fun. Even with a 76% winning percentage I was completely stressed all the time playing any good team because I knew missing a shot or 2 could potentially doom my team for that game. Last night missing open shots consecutively while seeing a slasher build on the other team go 8 for 10 from 3 in 2 games while being contested on quite a few was basically rage inducing and I just don't want to put myself through it any longer no matter how much I love basketball.

LMAO [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]! Modern day shooter! Really? Dude, you're shooting technique is no different than what I probably used in 80's, 90's, 2000s, and early 2010s. There is nothing "special" about shooting once you learn the fundamentals and practice your form. The BEST NBA shooter in the WORLD is not shooting 70% on wide open shots.

Once again why can't people simply say that they like the video game mechanic that is completely unrealistic as it relates to real life basketball instead of just pretending that they are omniscient.
