I might have to ask Best Buy again. They made it sound like that if I take advantage of MS's warranty program that it would void my product replacement plan. Well, that was how I understood it. It's not a big deal. I love gaming too much that I can't be without my console for however long it takes to be replaced, lol. I only have the plan to replace my XBSX when it gets "old" and I want something "fresh". It's kinda a Catch 22...the plan allows me replace my XBSX on a whim pretty much.

Again, that was how it was sold to me. I swear if I try to cash in on it, and they tell me something different, Wayne Brady is going to choke someone, lol.

It is indeed. PS5 uses variable frequency, which means it should never overheat : power budget is evaluated over time, you're always at maximum capacity but you can never exceed budget, frequency would slightly drop if needed. That's the best solution.

Traditional consoles like XSX or PS4 use estimations to guess acceptable max power draw. If you guess wrong, you're screwed. That's why PS4 Pro sounded like a jet engine, they guessed wrong. Frequency being always the same means you can make sometimes too much heat.

Don't know if this will help or sway any of you but I recently had to twice return my XSX for this issue. Not a single game would launch without crashing, except The Show, which allowed me to play games but the screen was flooded with flashing green orbs that made it entirely unplayable.

Madden 22 start up was so bad it would brick the console for a few hours, making it completely unusable.

Microsoft eventually relented and sent me a replacement XSX and so far, so good. It's a real pain but at least for now I can say using the warranty has resolved my issues. I played two games on Madden this afternoon and it was great.

PS5 doesn't have such problems like turning off console. Nice try though, keep on hating PS5.

Are you sure about that? My point is really simple...neither console is "problem free".

Sure but if you play 2k22 on X series, you go rec or any other online activity console shuts down, it is forcing me to go current gen, as far i know PS5 users don`t have that issue that much

I will wait some time if Microsoft fails with improving this, i gonna buy PS5

It's all good. I didn't want people starting a console war due to NBA 2K22. Microsoft and 2K are aware of the problem, and they did fix it last year. We'll see. I just bought the current gen version, so I'll play it for any online games, and my Series X for any offline games. I mainly play PNO, but I am liking MyTeam. Good news is that progress in MyTeam carries over between the two versions.

The more I read other sites, the more that I'm starting to think it's not really a "huge" problem across the board. It's fixable via a patch/hot fix, but it does seems to be mostly a case of "bad" consoles. If you understand this analogy, it just comes down to the fact that we probably own a console that was made on either Friday or Monday.

Re: Nba2k22 turning off the console (Xbox series X)

They absolutely did not fix it last year. They knew about it the whole year and never fixed the shut off issue. I played 2k the entire cycle, sent my box in within the first month and the issue crept back in. I 100% believe is a mix of internal and 2k. I just recently sent my box back in again because I was not about to go through the same thing in 2k22.

The problem is on both Microsoft and 2k and I’m hoping the outrage brings a solution but if it’s internal, the only way to fix it is sending it in.

Well, it no longer happens, after the new patch ... but you have to do a couple of things:

1.- disable the MAC in the NETWORK configuration (when deactivating the Xbox series X restarts), then check if the NAT is open (If not, restart the console one or as many times until you have open NAT).

2.- The most important thing (I have seen it in another video that happened to him with the valhala) ; before starting the nba 2k22 you must run another game that has Quick resume (I do it with the Forza horizon 4, the one in the video does it with the Gears 5),

now you start the nba 2k22 for xbox series X and I have already played two games of myteam unlimited and draft and it has not turned off ........ try it, it has worked for me

MLB The Show has quick resume, doesn’t it?

My NAT is open, and I tried using The Show as my “bootdisk” program, but my Xbox still shutsdown before I can finish a Rec Center game.

Didn't work for me either [emoji36].

Yeah that last one didn't work for me. The only place I've had any success completing games more than once is Pro-Am 3v3. Otherwise we're still stuck with no real progress or communication from Xbox or 2K since they acknowledged this issue on the 14th. I can play any other game endlessly but the moment I hit a Rec game or something, the Xbox is shutting off.
