What makes the sports game different from any other online multiplayer games?

      This made my heart sink.

Luckily, I was able to score a new XSX, so I will be sending my faulty one back for repairs and selling it used.

My only guess is that because these games are usually setting different goals than others (heavy online focus, lots of server pings/network handshakes, and trying to go to 11 on texture detail and stuff) so when games do similar (see: Call of Duty having raytracing and ALSO having this bad issue of crashing at its launch) they're finding accidental pathways to pushing the XSX past 100% and even at 101%, the console's gonna shut down to protect itself.

it's probably reporting a heating issue, not actually overheating or near that...

but, none of us here code nba2k22 or madden or fifa... or even cod/borderlands3 which were doing it near the xsx launch.

so.. it could be an actual heat issue or a bug reporting issue. we will probably never know. we're truly guessing.. but if it were a real heat issue, i'd think even a few xsx would slip through and brick.

that's why my guess is it's a bug in the code reporting. not actual heat.

Are people reporting that it's still happening? I don't play either one of those games, so I wouldn't know.

Played a ton this afternoon without a single shutdown. Hope this is a good sign.

It is absolutely still happening in Madden at least. I have heard Fifa too, but i dont play that so i cannot personally confirm.

For me, the crashing started in the madden beta. It was really, really bad. Like, cant play more than one game at a time bad.i just shrugged it off as it being a "beta". Boy, was I wrong. From I have heard from EA, they have no idea whatsoever what is causing it and they are trying to put it on Microsoft.

Yes, it is happening in FIFA 22 and FIFA 21 next gen versions. I sent my Xbox series x to Microsoft and they sent me the same Xbox "fixed" but the problem is not fixed. I don't know what will happen with this problem but I'm thinking to sell My Xbox and then buy other when the problem is solved. Sorry for my English but I'm Mexican.

Well the biggest reason I'd say it isn't anything related to heating off-hand is like you said, it'd brick something eventually if it happened that often, and even if it was reporting an overheat, the UI would do the overheating warning but it isn't. At this point I honestly assume something related to the networking is making the console run out of usable ram, which would shut it down without any other warnings. Would also tend to explain why non-game things seem to degrade as it happens (audio/party chat getting choppy at times, etc.)

At least in FIFA during the game you can see some reddish flashes throughout the match, I think it is because there is something wrong with the infrastructure of the game and it causes that it doesn't have stability ending by turning off the xbox.

Just after I wrote that, went on to play, messed around in the city courts shooting around a bit, went to the old gym, started having a massive game, already up to 13 points and then bam instant shut off. Instead of another win with great stats I will get another loss and all zeros. Can't beat 2k on an xbox console.

I'll give them one more week, then I'll start contacting some of my media contacts to make this news. The last thing MS wants (which ironically I don't think it's 100% their fault) is negative coverage like this with the holiday season right around the corner.

I'm getting frustrated, because I really don't like playing against the AI, BUT I'm discovering that I'm good enough to have a solid winning percentage in PNO and MyTeam Unlimited. Farming cards in MyTeam to pass the time.

I have been waiting for BIG news sites to report on this, but nobody really is, only smaller sites and blogs. However, we did get a pretty decent story from GamesRadar yesterday so maybe other outlets will start reporting on this.

It has to make a big news and social media splash or they are going to keep giving us the runaround. I mean, look, they are already giving us the runaround and buying time.

2kSupport and Microsoft, both, are just trying to stall and buy themselves time to either fix this problem, or hope we give up and shut up.
