Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD
Ok, thanks.
Depending on how long it takes to unlock ability to Influence trade/rotations and playbook, I will sim to my 2nd season once those are unlocks. I always take my Rookie season to develop my player. That way, I can focus on playing games in my 2nd season. Past few years, it felt too grind heavy where that once I'm done grinding, I lose interest in the modeComment

Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD
For those who have played this so far, do you still become a Free Agent after rookie year or did they change it to where you have to fulfill an actual multi-year rookie contract?
That would effect the way I would approach the mode. I like to go to a young team with a young star to team up with. I know about the trade storyline in MyCareer this year. If we still become a Free Agent after rookie year, then I don't have think much about the team I request a trade too in rookie season. But if we have to do multiple years before FA, then I will have to be certain about the team I want to be traded too. Plus, I like to sim to 2nd year once I develop my player to a good enough overall. If we don't become a FA after year 1, no point of me simming until year 2.Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD
I think it's the craziest it's ever been and even low ranking attributes like 3pt and steal are over 1k VC per point. I just looked at moving my def rebf from 62-79 and it was about 12k VC - moving my 3pt from 64-80 I think was about 30k VC - that's a crap tonne!
One thing I do though is because I play offline in the NBA I just find a spot where I like the gameplay and now i'm just hording VC if and when the rosters update and I feel like starting again with a different build. Now I have 40k, so maybe by the time the season starts I'll have 70 or so to play with.
I'm done with 2k though for at least a couple of years after this one, they lost me as a customer for now.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD
My simple rules for builds this year is to try to have at least 80 steal and 87 pass (maybe 85, can't remember the requirement). You unlock different steal animations at 70, 80, and 90, and at 85 or 87 passing, you get gold bullet passer I believe. If you want to save some you could settle for silver bullet passer at like 76 or something.NFL: Bills

Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD
The question was is it a grind this year for VC or is it better - I respectfully disagree. The time put in vs my build's overall it's a longer grind than ever. I've resorted to fouling out in the WNBA (which they patched and doesn't work anymore) and quitting out of nba playnow for vc - I've never done that before.

But, it has been a spend $20-50+ on VC or be prepared to grind. I'm not trying to spend more money on top of what I already paid for the game. Especially for a mode I play offline only and only for a full season. I don't mind the grind. But it becomes solely about the grind that once I'm "done" grinding, the luster the mode brings wanes.Comment

Don’t use the speed burst till you’re at least even with the defender or else they will just stonewall you

For a C way to little strength and very small lol.
If you play a 7’3 C you aint stopping him from scoring if he is half decent lol.
Shooting 3 about the only thing you can offer lol

Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD
Do you still need to grind for vc or is it better
Plus Kendrick Perkins still owes me another 7,500 VC because the goal where you're supposed to watch his apology video after winning the NBA championship is glitched and won't complete for some reason.
But I started with 100,000 VC on day one from the anniversary edition, so I basically just broke even and would be sitting at a 0 VC balance had I bought the standard edition instead (I reckon I've made around 20,000 VC from the multiplayer modes).
Basically, if all you play is MyCareer, you'll have a tough time making enough VC to get all of your attribute upgrades purchased, and you probably won't have any leftover VC to buy animations, much less clothes--I haven't spent a cent on any of that stuff and still ended up doing no better than breaking even after a 60-game first season.
This is the most expensive it's ever been to build up a my player from scratch. Your best bet this year is to get your online rep level to 26 ASAP and hope for a big payday through the enhanced daily spin season reward. I've seen lots of people winning 250,000 VC after they unlocked the enhanced spins.
It also helps if you have both versions of the game installed (current gen and next gen) since your VC balance transfers between gens and you can play the daily NBA pick em + do the daily spin once a day on each console.Last edited by jyoung; 10-07-2021, 04:22 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K22 MYCAREER THREAD
If your build can get Slasher takeovers I'd definitely recommend usinng it, it's arguably the best by a mile in terms of attribute boosts. If using the exact same takeover in both slots you get +15 (+21 with Juice takeover perk) to:
Close Shot
Standing Dunk
Driving Layup
Driving Dunk
Draw Foul
Ball Handle
Speed
Speed With Ball
Acceleration
Vertical
