Re: NBA 2K20 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
Bro, youre the only person I trusted when it came to sliders. Really hope you come up with a complete set for 2k20. Due to covid, i really want to nestle in a long season with your sliders. Hope they do eventually get released. Fingers crossedComment

Thanks Crew! Yea, I want to be able to finally start a MyLEAGUE that I will stick with, so getting these sliders done is a must.
Let’s just hope next-gen’s 2K21 has a whole new engine or at least some DRASTIC improvements to the current one, because I don’t know how much longer I can force myself to try and fix the same issues year after year.Comment

Yep, I know how you feel. I have lost all interest in playing NBA2k since I got MLBTS20. I tried to look past the all the flaws and just enjoy the game for what it is, which is a very good game if your not OCD about realistic stats, and a realistic simulation of the NBA.
I just cant get past the lack of fouls and non steal turnovers. Sure if you constantly drive into the paint, you will get plenty of fouls and free throws, but I want to see non shooting fouls, and a realistic amount of shooting fouls on 3pt attempts.
After all these yrs, we still shouldn't be having the some of the same issues, that's basically been there since the 1st NBA2k game came out. Its ridiculous that the devs continue to ignore fixing this stuff yr after yr.
I will not buy another NBA2k game, until the devs start putting more effort into making a actual NBA simulation, because right now, all it is a glorified arcade type basketball game, with the NBA license. I really thought when DaCzar was hired, we would see a better NBA simulation, but that's not happened. Not that I blame Czar by any means, as just think he has to work on what he is told to work on, so he isn't allowed to make the Human vs the CPU more of a simulation, as I think they have him focused on Human vs Human, and if there building a game thru Human Vs Human, the game will never be a true NBA simulation.
Once you get your sliders set finished up, I will probably attempt to start a My League, if your able to atleast improve things with slider adjustments. Ive just lost all patience with tinkering around with sliders, along with editing players.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

100% agree, there’s really no fixing 2K20. The foul issues just can’t be fixed, and with fouls being SO far away from a true representation of the game, the game would still feel completely off even if you made everything else perfect. I don’t even think I’ll look into tweaking the foul sliders at all. They’re beyond repair and simply not worth the time.
Now having said that, I just played a game at 65 game speed and WOW did animations and movement just feel right. I need to quickly tweak the rest of the movement sliders to match the new game speed, then I’ll go back to finishing up the defensive sliders.
EDIT: After further testing, the movement sliders posted the other day work at all Game Speed settings between 60 and 65, so feel free to use any Game Speed in that window that you prefer.Last edited by EccentricMeat; 05-12-2020, 05:20 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K20 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
Still mucking about with the defensive settings so they're definitely not set in stone, but I wanted to get them posted regardless. I also have a nice test set of tendencies I wanted to share so you guys have a better idea of what I'm working on. Not a full or finished set by any means, but a good place to start:

Alley-Oop Success - 50
Contact Shot Success - 55

Driving Contact Shot Frequency - 100
Inside Contact Shot Frequency - 100
*Defense Strength sliders are WIP*

Speed without Ball (Min rating) - 60
Acceleration without Ball (Max rating) - 80
Acceleration without Ball (Min rating) - 60
Again, all of this is still a WIP and needs to be finished and fine-tuned, but I wanted to get something substantial posted FINALLY. Still need to work on rebounding, awareness, shot success, and the rest of the defensive sliders, so expect those posted sometime soon (tm).Comment

Re: NBA 2K20 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
He abandoned OS, his sliders are posted here:
The best combination I've found so far though is:
- Schnaidt's sliders (including his recent tweaks of 50/50 for lateral quickness, 50 for post shots and 40 for attack the basket);
- Eccentric's game speed, acceleration and speed attribute sliders and his entire movement section;
- My own personal tweaks of 65 direction/25 distance/10 openness for pass target profile and 50/58 for 3PT success instead of 49/60 of Schnaidt's.
It was the closest to perfect for me after trying a lot of different slider sets. But I'm still expecting Eccentric's full set and hoping it could be the definitive experience, the guy is very wise.Comment

Re: NBA 2K20 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
Oooooh I feel the update getting close. Things are really starting to come together in my latest test-games and I'm actually having some fun again :O
Side note: I've settled on Game Speed at 60. 65 has its benefits, but the movement off the ball is just a little too fast and twitchy looking. Luckily I was able to make a few tweaks to dribbling and movement to replicate the benefits of 65 GS, so all is well.

I dont want to play an 82 game season with Milwaukee and finish dead last in FTA/game because im playing my games and the in-game engine doesnt model everything the same as the sim engine.PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Re: NBA 2K20 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
1. Making sure the game is still a challenge when you have the CPU turning the ball over via bad passes, on-ball steals, stolen passes, etc.
2. Making sure the game is still fun and rewarding for the user by reducing RNG of inaccurate passes, AI steals (both on-ball and stolen passes), etc.
Finding the right balance there will really just come down to user preference. Some will be annoyed if ANY of their passes go out of bounds or get picked off by the AI, while others understand that players aren't perfect and sometimes things don't turn out the way you wanted them to.
Now as far as fouls and free throws are concerned, there are ways to "fix" this issue but not in a fully realistic way. Seeing as the game simply refuses to call charges, blocking fouls, and shooting fouls on jump shots like it should, you have to compensate by increasing fouls at the rim, reaching fouls, etc. Again, some of that will come down to user preference as the game can become too easy or too tedious by increasing/decreasing fouls at the rim, and going for steals can become more of a dice-roll than an actual show of skill.
Trying to strike these sorts of balances is nearly impossible, and may help explain to you all why I have yet to post a set this year and why other slider makers may also take a while between updates. Tweaking sliders is a painstaking process, and that's without taking into account how the game can completely change from one day to another.
Speaking of which, I've just dropped game speed back down to 58. A week ago I was set on 60 "for sure", then a few days ago I was "certain" the game played better at 65. And today I'm back to the setting I was using months ago before I disappeared yet again.

Re: NBA 2K20 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
That's one of the major things I'm working on. Turnovers can be solved realistically in a multitude of ways, the issue really becomes two-fold:

Re: NBA 2K20 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic Slider Set
Man, youre never going to get it perfect due to all the under the hood issues that 2k has. Just do the best you can, and release it when you think its the best youve got. I keep trying to tweak, but some things can simply never be made 'realistic' . Its just the way it is. Its not worth the stress
