First, pause the game and select the team the CPU is using, and go to Coach Settings. For offensive playcalling choose "Auto w/ Msg". Then switch back to your team and start playing again. You should now see the name of every offensive play the CPU calls at this point.

Nice! I'll check that out!! (I always thought the plays I assigned is for when I actually play them... good to know AI actually calls them as well )

Ok I tried and yes I did see they call plays. But those aren't the ones I assigned to him. T'wolves called a "3p PF something" which kinda like "pop and clear PF" but KG ran to the corner 3pt line and drained a 3pt.

I don't know why, but the CPU loves calling that "Pop and Clear PF" play a lot, regardless of whether or not that play was mapped to any buttons on the controller. It even called that play often in the demo.

I have read conflicting reports on whether or not we have to start our chise over to incorporate the new plays. I am at work otherwise I would try. Can you just change the plays for each opponent before you play them when the game starts to avoid starting over? Is this an option. I don't want to start over. Thanks.

Dumb question:

It's my understanding that if I pick these plays as the CPU's quick plays in their playbook, they will run them for the most part. Do I have to fiddle with any other play call settings, or will the CPU just automatically run thse plays whenever I play against these teams?

It's not a bad question. I haven't played with the "auto w/msg" setting on. But if you go all the way back to post 101 in this thread, aholbert32 tried it and it seemed like the AI favored the mapped plays. But I also think that was on X360, so it may have a different effect on ps2 and xbox. It's very clear from other posts and just watching the AI play that the AI chooses from all plays on all systems. Until someone does more testing, what we don't know for sure is how much the mapped plays affect AI tendency to call just those plays.

I tried to create playbooks for all the teams, but I can't seem to get the saves to work.

Is there a place to edit all the teams playbooks? The only way I have found is to start a game with a team and edit them in the coaching options. Then I save the VIP and playbooks when the game is over.

But that deosn't seem to save the playbooks

There has to be a way to edit them outside of a game, right?

What version do you use? On ps2 and probably xbox, you go to Options | My NBA | Playbooks. You can map plays for each team and the generic books. These are saved with the settings file on ps2, and this file is normally autoloaded when you first start 2k7. As far as I know, you can't transfer mapped plays to a franchise-in-progress. But if you start the franchise after setting them, the franchise will "inherit" your mapped plays.

Is there a way that you can change a team's playbook? I'm playing my Association with Miami and Shaq has retired. I need a more uptempo playbook. I looked through all the menus and don't see an option to change the playbook.

how do i makke my offense and post play more consistent? I either make every shot or miss every shot. And how do i drive to the hoop? Its impossible.

I play Quick Games to learn the game with "auto w/ message" on. but when I dont call any plays myself auto play calls plays that are not in my cavaliers playbook. there are tons of plays out there impossible to know them all. How can I get the autoplay calling only the plays in my playbook. Or simply Can I ?

You would have to set the playcalling to manual w/message so you can call your own plays and be sure of what your calling.
