Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

    Here are the Rockets. Starters:

    PG - Rafer Alston
    SG - Tracy McGrady
    SF - Bonzi Wells
    PF - Juwan Howard
    C - Yao Ming

As you all can see, I have Bonzi starting over Shane Battier. From here, the issue was where would I put he and where would I put T-Mac. It's probably more appropriate that T-Mac as SF, but after looking over the Rockets playbook, it's Tim Duncan scenario over again. I find that SG is featured in majority of plays inside the Rockets playbook, so in order to take full advantage of that I think it's best for me to put T-Mac there and slide Bonzi over to the 3 spot. Now for the plays:

Dual Wing Guard (Motion 2 set)
First of all, it may be a good idea to get the big man going. This is a play to get the ball to Yao in the post. Here, T-Mac comes around a Yao screen on the baseline and moves the the wing. At this point T-Mac receives the ball from Alston standing at the top of the key. Then Yao will call for the ball on the low block and T-Mac can pass it to him down there. All the perimeter players are spotting up behind the arc, so Yao has weapons to kick the ball out to in case he gets double- or triple-teamed. Or T-Mac can switch things up and look for his own shot instead of initially feeding the ball to Yao.

Corner Roll SG-C (Motion 5 set)
This is a versatile play involving T-Mac and Yao. Alston has the ball at the top of the key and looks for T-Mac moving along the baseline. After T-Mac comes around a screen set by Yao, Alston passes him the ball. Now at the wing, T-Mac has the option to shoot on the catch, immediately drive to the basket, or stop and get into triple threat stance. Or what T-Mac can do is pass the ball to Yao as he is standing near the baseline about 10 or so feet away from the basket.

    SG Clearout (Baseline 1 set)
Heh, everyone should know this play was coming sooner or later. It's obviously designed for great one-on-one players like T-Mac. This should be a staple for Rockets users along with the previous two plays. Check for the description of this one inside the Lakers section.

Block to Block C (Motion 1 set)
This is a good play to use to get Yao the ball on the low block. Take a look at the Cavaliers section for an explanation of this play.

    Corner Roll (Motion 1 set)
This is a play involving T-Mac and Alston. Here, Alston has the ball at the top of the key then dribbles toward the sideline in the same direction as T-Mac as he moves along the baseline. Once T-Mac gets to the corner, Alston passes him the ball. T-Mac then makes a move to the elbow area. But from here T-Mac has options. He can either follow the play design and pass the ball back to Alston as Alston spots up in the corner he left from. He could shoot the midrange J from that spot. Or he can choose to drive all the way to the basket. It'll be a really good idea to mix it up and explore every option during the game to make this play effective and keep the defense guessing.

    SG Iso (Motion 1 set)
Another Isolation play for T-Mac. Check the Magic section for a rundown of this play.

    Stack SF-C (Motion 1 set)
This is a play to call on for Bonzi or for Battier if he's on the court. Take a look at the Hawks section for a description of this play.

    SG Dive (Triangle 1 set)
This is a good play to get T-Mac the ball on the move to the basket (if he gets a well-timed pass from Alston) or in the post. An explanation of this play can be found in the Grizzlies section.

Yes, if you read back a page I included all the plays Kruza had completed upto the Spurs in a playbook file and there's also people that put the plays in a word doc.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

        Now for the Clippers. Starters:

        PG - Sam Cassell
        SG - Cuttino Mobley
        SF - Corey Maggette
        PF - Elton Brand
        C - Chris Kaman

Sorry, but I felt I had to get Corey Maggette in there ASAP as starting SF. The only reason why Quentin Ross was starting instead of Maggette on the default roster in the first place was because Maggette was injured for a significant part of last season. However, that's not an issue for this season. And that's not an issue in this videogame. Now for the plays:

High Rub PG-PF (Triangle 6 set)
This is a really good play to run involving Cassell and Brand which I think should be a staple for Clippers users. Check the Pistons section for an explanation of this play.

Pick Roll Forwards (Motion 2 set)
Formerly known as "Dual Wing Forward SF" in past NBA 2K games, this is a Post play for Brand. A description of this play can be found inside the Pistons section.

Pop and Clear PF (Motion 1 set)
This play is designed to get Brand the ball near the baseline about 12 or so feet away from the basket. Take a look at the T'Wolves section for a rundown of this one.

        SF Iso (Motion 1 set)
An Isolation play for Maggette. Refer to the Magic section to read about this one.

        PF Post (Motion 5 set)
Here's another Post play for Brand. Again, check the Magic section for a description of this play.

        Rub-read Option (Triangle 4 set)
This is deceptively designed be a Post play for Kaman, who's standing on the weakside low block. But the ball can also go to Brand on the strongside low block if desired. Or Cassell can choose to break off the play early and make something happen on his own. Mix up all the options enough and you can constantly keep the defense off guard and not knowing what to do to stop it.

        SG Take (Motion 1 set)
This is an Isolation play set up on the wing to run for Cutty that gives him the option to either shoot the midrange J on the catch, drive to the basket or stop and go into triple threat stance to work his man one-on-one. Now keep in mind that Mobley is a better shooter than slasher, so it may be a good idea to shoot on the catch more often than not. At any rate, check the Pistons section for a rundown of this play.

Bigs Pick Roll (Triangle 5 set)
This play is design to get Kaman an easy bucket near the basket if executed properly. Here, Cassell passes the ball to Brand standing at the FT line. Then Kaman moves toward Brand to set a screen for him, then darts to the front of the basket. If Kaman's man decides to help out on Brand, the passing lane may be there for the dumpoff pass to him. As you all can see, the success of this play largely depends on the extra defensive attention Brand receives whenever he has the ball inside the paint area. So it may be better to call on this play after Brand has already established himself to be a dominant force inside the paint during the course of a game.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

          Now for the Nuggets. Starters:

          PG - Andre Miller
          SG - J.R. Smith
          SF - Carmelo Anthony
          PF - Kenyon Martin
          C - Marcus Camby

The only tough decision I had to make with this lineup is choosing to start K-Mart over Nene at the 4 spot. K-Mart gets the final nod because he's slightly better at defensive rebounding than Nene, which is one of the top criteria for me as far as this position is concerned. I'm disappointed in Miller's low post rating on this game which I think is very underrated in comparison to real life, but that's another issue altogether. Anyway, to the plays:

Inside Out SG-SF (Triangle 6 set)
This is a good 2-man swingmen play to run involving Melo and Smith. This play allows Melo to take a shot from the low block or from the elbow depending on what the defense gives him. Smith could also take the shot if Melo gets trapped while he has the ball. Check the Lakers section for a description of this play.

C Double Screen (Triangle 3 set)
This play is designed for Camby to get him the ball inside near the basket. It can be really useful for him since he can make those real close flip shots inside, yet he's not that good back-to-the-basket type player and he would have trouble getting himself in good enough postion to score in that scenario. Here, Miller has the ball at the top of the key. Then K-Mart and Melo set a double screen deep inside the paint area to free up Camby down there. Camby comes off the double screen and stops at spot about 6-8 feet away from the basket.

          SG Dive (Triangle 1 set)
This is a play design to get Smith the ball as he slashed to the basket after catching a well-timed pass from Miller or in the post if the pass is a tad late. Check the Grizzlies section for a rundown of this play.

          Screen Screener SF (Box set)
Now it's time to go to the man of the squad. In this play, Melo will get the ball on the wing after coming off a K-Mart baseline screen. And at this point he has the option of either shooting on the catch, driving to the basket, or stopping and getting into triple threat stance. Take a look at the Raptors section for an explanation of this one.

          SF Misdirection (Box set)
Another good play to run for Melo to give him the option to shoot as he gets the ball in the wing or corner (depending on which direction is pressed if lead icon pass is used). Again, a description of this play can be seen inside the Raptors section.

          Post PF-SF (Baseline 1 set)
This is a Post play for Melo to take advantage of his really good back-to-the-basket skills on the low block. A rundown of this play can be found inside the Bulls section.

Pick Fade PG-SF (Baseline 1 set)
A nice Pick & Pop play involving Miller and Melo. Take a peek at the Grizzlies section for an explanation of this one.

High Rub PG-C (Baseline 1 set)
What playbook is complete without a Screen/Pick & Roll play? Here, Miller and Camby are involved. Refer to the Suns section to read up on what goes on.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

              Now for the Wizards. Starters:

              PG - Gilbert Arenas
              SG - Antonio Daniels
              SF - Caron Butler
              PF - Antawn Jamison
              C - Brendan Haywood

I chose to start Antonio Daniels over Deshawn Stevenson at the 2 guard spot. Daniels is just a better overall player than Stevenson in most categories that I feel are important for that position. As for the plays:

              PF Screen (1-4 High set)
This Screen play involving Arenas and Jamison should be a staple for Wizards users. Giving an elite do-it-all PG the caliber of Arenas multiple options to make a play after coming off a screen is bad enough. Now there's an additional option that defenders will have to worry about since Jamison is a big time 3-pt threat who can make defender who go to trap Arenas early pay dearly. Check the Magic section for a description of this play, but it's a lot more effective with this team running it than it is for the Magic.

Pick Roll Forwards (Motion 2 set)
This is a Post play mainly involving Jamison and Butler. Take a look inside the Pistons section for a rundown of this one.

              PF Post (Motion 5 set)
Another Post play for Jamison. Refer to the Magic section for an explanation.

              Corner Roll (Motion 1 set)
This is a good play to run involving Arenas and Daniels that could possibly get Arenas an open corner 3. A description of this play can be found inside the Rockets section.

2 Guard High (1-4 High set)
This play is designed to get Daniels the ball at the elbow/FT line area. Arenas has the ball at the top of the key then immediately passes to Jamison, making this initially look like a "Wheel Option" play. But instead of keeping the ball, Jamison gives it right back to Arenas. Next, Daniels makes his move toward the basket then comes back toward the elbow area. At this spot he'll have the option to shoot on the catch or drive to the basket. Keep in mind that Daniels is a much better slasher than shooter, so it may be a better idea to drive to the basket more often than not whenever running this play.

              PG Cut (Motion 1 set)
This is a good play to run for Arenas to get him the ball near the baseline. First, Arenas has the ball at the top of the key and passes it off to Butler standing on the elbow. Butler holds on to the rock and waits for Arenas to make his move. Arenas will slowly head toward the basket, then make a quick cut around Haywood and move along the baseline. Butler gets him the ball after he makes this cut. At this point Arenas has the option to shoot on the catch or pass to an open Haywood or Butler if either of their man goes out to try and trap Arenas.

              PG Spread (Motion 5 set)
This is a good Isolation play to run for Arenas. Arenas first passes the ball to Butler standing near the sideline. Haywood makes a move to near the top of the key and receives the ball from Butler there. Then Arenas initially moves to Butler's side of the court, turns and move along the baseline toward the opposite side of the court then come off a double screen set by Jamison and Daniels to get the ball on the wing from Haywood. Now at this point Arenas has the option to shoot on the catch or stop and get into triple threat stance to work his man one-on-one.

              SF Iso (Motion 1 set)
And finally it's time to look out for Butler. Here is an Isolation play for him to get the ball on the wing to let him make it happen. Check the Magic section for an explanation of this one.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

                  Okay, here's the Jazz. Starters:

                  PG - Deron Williams
                  SG - Ronnie Brewer
                  SF - Andrei Kirilenko
                  PF - Mehmet Okur
                  C - Carlos Boozer

I inserted Ronnie Brewer for Gordan Giricek as SG, who I think is too one-dimensional a player to start as a 2-guard. Plus I have Memo and Carlos switch positions. The reason? More plays inside the Jazz playbook features the PF, and Okur is the more talented offensive player between the two. Boozer, however, is a better low post defender than Okur. So if you Jazz users go this route and swap their starting positions you may likely have to switch who they guard inside the Matchup screen during your game since the majority of the better low post men play the 4-spot. Now for the plays:

                  Post PF-SF (Baseline 1 set)
This is a play to get AK-47 the ball in the post and go to work. Now keep in mind AK is not a beast on the block. But like I had said about Andres Nocioni before, AK's good enough down there to do damage if he's guarded by a SF since the majority of them in general aren't good low post defenders. Also peep Memo creeping to the the high post area, so if his man goes to double down on AK he'll be open for the FT line jumper if AK decides to pass the ball to him.

SG Rub Iso (Baseline 1 set)
This is a good play to run for involving RB and Memo. There are multiple options for RB to explore after going around the elbow screeen set by Memo. Check the Raptors section for a description of this play.

                  PG Spread (Motion 5 set)
An Isolation play that's suitable for Deron's skills. Check the Wizards section for a rundown of this play.

C Double Screen (Triangle 3 set)
This is a play that can be ran for Boozer to get him a shot near the basket without him having to go into the low block to work for it. An explanation of this play can be found inside the Nuggets section.

Power Play PF (Triangle 5 set)
Here's the first of a series of Post plays for Memo. Take a look at the Grizzlies section to read up on what goes on in this play.

                  Postfeed PF (Flex 2 set)
The second Post play for Memo. The Grizzlies section has the details.

                  Comeback PF (Flex 3 set)
The third Post play for Memo. And again, check out the Grizzlies section for details.

                  Screen Screener SF (Box set)
This is a play designed to get AK a midrange jumper on the wing after coming off a baseline screen set by Memo. Check the Raptors section for a rundown of this play. And also keep in mind that whenever you run this play, don't completely ignore Memo. Don't hesitate to pass the ball to Memo if his man goes to help on AK as AK comes off the baseline screen he sets. Memo can stick that baseline jumper.

Re: Official NBA 2K7 Playbook Thread...

                        Now for the Pacers. Starters:

                        PG - Jamaal Tinsley
                        SG - Stephen Jackson
                        SF - Danny Granger
                        PF - Jermaine O'Neal
                        C - Jeff Foster

When I first checked the roster on this team I immediately went to put in Al Harrington at the PF spot and slide Jermaine O'Neal over to C. But then I thoroughly looked over the Pacers playbook, and changed my mind. The majority of plays inside the Pacers playbook features the PF as opposed to the C, so I kept O'Neal there. Harrington doesn't have the size or the rebounding ability to hold up as C, so he's out of luck as far as cracking the starting lineup. So in the end Foster remains as C, and Harrington fills in as the backup PF. Now for the plays:

                        PF Seal (Triangle 5 set)
A Post play for O'Neal which has Granger and Jackson spotting up in the corner ready to receive any kickout pass from him. Check the T'Wolves section for a description of this play.

                        Rub-read Option (Triangle 4 set)
A versatile play that can go to either O'Neal in the post (since Foster down on the low block isn't a threat by any means) or have Tinsley taking the shot. Check the Spurs section for a rundown of this play.

                        SG Shuffle (Baseline 2 set)
This is a play to get Jackson a shot from right in front of the FT line. And explanation of this play can be found inside the Bulls section.

                        Baseline Exchange (Motion 1 set)
Here's another Post play for O'Neal. Take a look inside the Mavericks section to read up on this one.

                        Stack PG-PF (Motion 1 set)
A good P&R play to run for Tinsley and O'Neal (or with the Sarunas Jasikevicius and Al Harrington combo). Check the T'Wolves section for a description of this play.

Power Play PF (Triangle 5 set)
Yet another Post play that's good to run with O'Neal. Details of this one can be found inside the Grizzlies section.

                        Double Thru (Motion 5 set)
A play involving Jackson and Granger. Jackson will be on the move and Granger will be looking to pass the ball to him as he makes his cut to the basket. Take a peek inside the Sonics section for more of an explanation of this play.

                        SG Take (Motion 1 set)
An Isolation play for Jackson. He doesn't have great one-on-one skills, but he's good enough to score against most defenders. At any rate, the Pistons section has a rundown of this play. Keep in mind that it may be a good idea to take the midrange jumper with Jackson more often than putting the ball on the floor trying to break defenders down.

                            Now for the Celtics. Starters:

                            PG - Delonte West
                            SG - Paul Pierce
                            SF - Wally Szczerbiak
                            PF - Al Jefferson
                            C - Theo Ratliff

I went with Theo Ratliff over Kendrick Perkins as starting center because Ratliff is a much better shotblocker while being almost even with Perkins in every other category important for bigs. Anyway, here are the plays:

Point Shuffle SF (1-4 High set)
This play is designed to get Wally a trey or a midrange jumper after a step-in. P-squared could also break off the play to look for his own shot from time to time. Check the Raptors section for an explanation of this one.

                            SG Option (1-4 High set)
Gotta run this for PP. Plays like this are tailor-made for him. Check the Sonics section for a description of this one.

Dual Wing Guard (Motion 2 set)
This is a Post play involving The Rattler and Pierce. Now I know... Ratliff isn't exactly a stud in the post. But it's still a good idea to have him down there every once in a while so defending bigs won't completely ignore him. Plus PP can still look for his own shot if Ratliff is having trouble producing down on the low block. Take a look at the Rockets section for more detail about this play.

                            Double Thru (Motion 5 set)
This is a good play to run involving P-squared and Wally World. Take a peek inside the Sonics section to know what goes on in this play.

                            Block Exchange (Motion 2 set)
This play is designed to get Ratliff a shot close to the basket without needing to post up, which benefits him. The Cavaliers section has a rundown of this play.

                            Shuffle-Cut Option (1-4 High set)
This is a cool play that gets PP the ball on the low block. First West passes the ball to Jefferson standing near him. Ratliff comes up, near the top of the key and receives the pass from Jefferson. Jefferson then relays the ball back to West standing on the wing behind the arc. Finally, PP makes his shuffle cut to the low block area and gets it from West here. A well-timed pass from Delonte while PP is making the shuffle cut could possibly get PP to go up for a layup or dunk instead, but the window of error is small here.

2 Guard High (1-4 High set)
This is a rather quick play that gets PP the ball near the high post area. Check the Wizards section for a description of this one.

                            PG Reversal (1-4 High set)
This play can be ran as an Isolation for West or to get Wally a midrange shot after coming off a double screen set by Ratliff and PP at the FT line. Take a look at the Knicks section for an explanation of this play.

                              Here are the Warriors. Starters:

                              PG - Baron Davis
                              SG - Jason Richardson
                              SF - Mike Dunleavy
                              PF - Troy Murphy
                              C - Adonal Foyle

I have to admit I was very close to inserting the rook Patrick O'Bryant as starting center, but I resisted. I was sold on the advantage in defensive awareness that Foyle has over O'Bryant. So Foyle starts. Now for the plays:

                              PG Spread (Motion 5 set)
This is a good Isolation play for Baron. Take a look inside the Wizards section for a rundown of this play.

Single Double PG-SG (Baseline 1 set)
This has always been one of the more complex plays in the NBA 2K series, and that hasn't changed in 2K7. This play is designed to get Baron a midrange jumper near the baseline or a trey in the corner (depending on if Baron is lead to that spot with the use of lead icon passing) but in reality it has multiple options within it that can be utilized. First, Baron passes the ball off to Dunleavy on the wing behind the arc. Dunleavy then gives the ball to Foyle in the post. Next, J-Rich moves over toward the center of the FT line and receives the ball from Foyle there. Once J-Rich gets the ball, Baron makes his move along the baseline going around screens set by Murphy and Foyle. As Baron makes it around Foyle's screen, J-Rich passes the ball to Dunleavy and Dunleavy immediately gets it to Baron for the catch and shoot J. There are a few alternative options that can be explored while running this play. Foyle go up with the shot in the post when he first gets it (though be warned that this is not a good option to rely on much simply because Foyle sucks in the post). J-Rich can go up for the catch-and-shoot FT line jumper once he touches it. Plus Dunleavy can hoist a trey from where he's standing as well. This is a great play to know and run often once it's learned.

                              PG Cut (Motion 1 set)
This is a play designed to get Baron the ball in the corner. Check the Wizards section for a description of this one.

                              Double Thru (Motion 5 set)
This is a good play to run mainly involving J-Rich and Dunleavy. Take a peek inside the Sonics section to read up on what goes on in this play.

                              SG Clearout (Baseline 1 set)
Gotta have Isolation plays ready to call on for a really good offensive talent like J-Rich. The Lakers section has details of this one.

                              SG Take (Motion 1 set)
Here's another Isolation play for J-Rich. Check the Pistons section for a rundown of this play.

                              Stack SF-C (Motion 1 set)
This P&R play can be ran for Dunleavy to possibly free him up for a midrange jumper near the FT line area.

                              SG Dive (Triangle 1 set)
This play can get J-Rich cutting to the basket after catching a pass from Baron standing on the wing, or J-Rich goes to the post if the pass is a little late. Take a look inside the section for more details on this play.

                                Now for the Kings. Starters:

                                PG - Mike Bibby
                                SG - Kevin Martin
                                SF - Ron Artest
                                PF - Kenny Thomas
                                C - Brad Miller

I strongly thought about starting Shareef Abdur-Rahim over Kenny Thomas at PF since SAR has better offensive skills. But Thomas gets the nod because he's a vastly superior defensive rebounder, and that's more important to me considering the other starting big on the floor, Miller, isn't that good a rebounder. He'll need all the help he can get on the boards. As for the plays:

                                PG-C Screen (1-4 High set)
A must run Screen play for good all-around PGs such as Bibby. What makes it even better is that Miller has a decent midrange jumper, and that would come in handy whenever his man goes over to immediately double-team Bibby as he comes off his elbow screen. The Hornets section has more details on how this play goes.

Low Post SF (1-4 High set)
This is a Post play for Ron Ron. Bibby goes around a Miller screen at the top of the key drifting toward the wing and passes the ball to Ron as Ron's moving to the low block.

                                Post PF-SF (Baseline 1 set)
This is another Post play for Artest. Take a look inside the Bulls section for a rundown of this play.

High Post Clear PF (Motion 1 set)
It's a good idea to save this play to call on for whenever Abdur-Rahim gets on the floor for Thomas. The T'Wolves section has an explanation of this play.

                                PG Take (Motion 1 set)
This is an Isolation play for Bibby. Check out the Bulls section for more details of this one.

                                Stack SF-C (Motion 1 set)
A nice P&R play to run involving Ron Ron and Miller. Refer to the Hawks section to read up on what goes on in this play.

Inside Out SF-PF (Motion 1 set)
A versatile 2-man play involving Artest and Thomas/SAR. It may be more effective play when it's Ron Ron-SAR combo since SAR is a slightly better jumpshooter than Thomas. Anyway, take a look inside the 76ers section for a description of this one.

                                SG Option (1-4 High set)
This is a good Isolation play that can be ran for Martin. Keep in mind that Martin is a better midrange jumpshooter than he is a slasher, so it'll be a good idea to shoot the J on the catch more often than not whenever running this play with him. Take a peek inside the Sonics section to read up on what goes on in this play.
