Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started an association with my favourite team the Nets a few weeks ago, not too bad so far. Did a fantasy draft, and had last pick. Ended with a team that was pretty good in the circumstances, but I still decided to make some trades a bit afterwards.

I sent Travis Outlaw and 2 first round picks to the Warriors for Demar Derozan and a 2012 second round pick, which might be slightly more a bad deal for me, but at the same time Derozan has superstar potential and he has played really well for me since the trade.

The second trade I made was 3 way: me sending Ray Allen, Shannon Brown and Serge Ibaka to the Celtics, in exchange for their first round pick (it is almost guaranteed to be a top 5 pick as they easily have the worst record in the league), Adam Morrison and Chris Hunter (also coming from the Celtics) and Jason Richardson (coming from the Pistons). To complete the deal, the Celtics sent Thaddeus Young to the Pistons. Again, this may seem like not such a great deal for me, but Ray Allen is close to retirement and in Jason Richardson I have a player who can still play on for several years. I also get a potential number 1 pick in the draft, so I can sign another potential superstar.

So here is my roster, which, a part from the 2 trades above, I haven't modified since the fantasy draft:

            PG: Jose Calderon/Goran Dragic/Sundiata Gaines
            SG: Jason Richardson/Bill Walker
            SF: Demar Derozan/Ryan Gomes/Adam Morrison/Cartier Martin
            PF: Kevin Love/Devon Hardin/Chris Hunter
            C: Andrea Bargnani/Dan Gadzuric/ Alexis Ajinca

It's also worth noting that even though players like Devon Hardin, Adam Morrison and Ajinca may look bad on paper, in my Association Hardin is a contender for the Rookie of the Year award, Morrison is averaging about 7 points a game off the bench and Ajinca is averaging about 5 points off the bench, which isn't bad.

My record is currently 6-7, and it means that I am well on course for the playoffs (I am playing a 29 game season).

Finally, trade wise I am looking into trading Kevin Love for a good center (Yao Ming?) so that I can play Bargnani in his preferred PF position. A part from that I don't think I will be trading anyone else before the end of the season.

What do you think and any ideas on any other centers I could trade Kevin Love for?

            Thanks.

12-6-11: Blazers Fall to Nets in New Jersey

New Jersey: Trail Blazer guard Brandon Roy did not play in the game due to a injured back, and early in the game against the Nets Wesley Matthews who is starting in place of Roy. Came up hobbling after going for a block shot, and twisted his ankle, but he is only listed as day to day, and continued to play in the game but had his minutes reduced, Now what will Coach/GM Benton do with Roy and Wes hurting ?.

LaMarcus Aldridge Stepped up big time with the injuries and had 32 points and 9 rebounds in 40 minutes of action and Gerald Wallace added in 14 and 9 with 4 steals.

Nets Star Carmelo Anthony lead the way for the Nets he had 26 points and 9 rebounds on 10-18 shooting. The Nets could not miss, they shot 54.6 percent on the night. Brook Lopez, Anthony and Derron Williams combined for 76 points. The Nets have now won 6 in a row. Up next for the Blazers is a home game against division rival and first place Oklahoma City Thunder.

GM/HC Benton has a decision to make on how much to play Wesley and Roy or wither to even play them at all. There has also been rumor of Portland trading there former all star Brandon Roy has he has received alot of interest but for now the team is staying the way they are now.

Well after a 5-1 start in the 2nd season of my Kings Association including a 15 point win over the Lakers and a 20 point win over my Grizzlies, I think it's time to bump up from All Star to Hall of Fame. I guess I'll check out the slider section and see if there are any good HOF sets. Any recommendations?

Have you tried Superstar? That's what I've been using because I find HOF to be, well, cheap. I'm all for the AI setting up plays, or improvising, or even taking the tough/contested shots that end up going in, but in my play with HOF it seems the math is skewed just so the computer gets a bucket. It might be worth it to try Superstar, or even All Star, and play with the sliders. You've got a lot of options there, especially since you can give the CPU different settings than you use.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Had my rematch with the 1985-86 Boston Celtics last night at the Boston Garden. It was a crazy game. I (1990-91 Los Angeles Lakers) was down 13 points early, but rallied and actually led by 2 going into the 4th quarter. I had a 2 point lead with 5 seconds to go, but Larry Bird hit a fallaway baseline jumper to tie the game and send it to OT.

In the extra session, I took a 2-point lead after Sam Perkins converted a 3-point play. Boston held the ball for the last shot, which wound up being a crazy series of events. Dennis Johnson dribbled the clock down, looked for Bird but couldn't get him the ball b/c of the tight defense I was playing. So, DJ pulled up for an 18-foot jumper, missed it, but Kevin McHale grabbed the offensive rebound. Perkins did a good job of quickly getting tight to McHale, not allowing him to get up a shot, so McHale, who was also being doubled by a hard-charging Magic Johnson, kicked the ball back to DJ who missed a baseline jumper as the buzzer sounded.

It felt good to beat this Celtics team after they thumped us in the Forum last month. 17-6 now in my 58-game season.

I look forward to hopefully turning my King's slump around. We're 5-7 right now, and I was hoping to get a better start than this early in the season. I might be trading SF Francisco Garcia soon, so keep an eye out for some moves from the Kings.

So basically, you aren't playing as the Sacramento Kings.

I mean, you traded Evans, Cousins, Thornton, Garcia, Udrih, and Dalembert. You're basically not the Kings anymore.
