Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
probably a long post but: so i'm not sure what to spend my skill points on. anyone with experience who can help?
i'm a 75 overall 6'10" athletic center for the heat. my first season i averaged 6.6ppg, 6.1rpg, 0.4apg and 0.7bpg in 20,7mpg. became a starter in the 81st game of the regular season. played only key games all the time cause i wanted to progress slowly. played really well in the playoffs and averaged 11 ppg, more than 9rpg and 1.5bpg in 34mpg. we won the championship, and i was also on the 2nd all rookie team.
i average an A+ team mate grade and get A+ every game i play cause i really focus on D and let wade & lebron handle the offense, i just set screens for them and grab rebounds.
played 2 games my second season and averaged 16ppg, 8rpg, 0.5bpg.
now i'm just not sure what the best attributes to spend SP on. here are my current stats:
OFFENSE: shot inside: 91, close 70, medium 35, 3p 26, free throw 57, low post 58, layup 56, dunk 60, st. dunk 65, in traffic 80, off hand 29, ball sec 40, pass 26, hands 75, off rebound 90.
DEFENSE: low post 74, block 90, steal 36, def reb 91, on-ball d 34
PHYSICAL: husle 75, speed 64, stamina 67, vertical 85(max), durability 95, quickness 62, strength 83
MENTAL: off clutch 25, def clutch 27, emotion 50, def aw 75, off aw 81, consistency 65.
my plan was to get def low post and strength to 90, but anyone who has a better idea?
I've never been a big, so it's hard to advise, but I'd think dunk and standing dunk would be items you'd want to get high if you have a 90 in O reb,I'd want to throw every one of those boards back down as opposed to worry about doing some stupid contested layup animation. Your pass is really low- does that cause you problems kicking it back out? Your strength seems adequate- I'd perhaps work on low post rating a little so you can pull off some simple up and unders and fade aways after you back your man down.
I think it is helpful to go into your player card, to the third page, and toggle to your ratings and see how they compare to your position averages.
Good luck!
I think I may start a season as a big. Now that I'm scoring 30-40 a game and on the trajectory to a 90ovr rating, it's kind of not as fun.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I put skill points into things that need improvement. Sounds obvious, but as a catch and shoot guy, I was bobbling the ball- invest in hands. As a scorer, I was shooting a lot- get mid and 3pt into the 90s. On an undersized team we were getting crushed on the boards- invest in rebouding. I was turning it over, a lot, including the frustrating dribble it off your/the defender's foot- invest in ball security and off ball dribble. I got trounced by Pierce, Iggy, and LBJ, so I invested in on ball d...

i've also thought about the dunk, but it's just pretty expensive. already over a 1000 SP to upgrade and it's just at 60. will however start playing with lebron shoes cause they give me 5+ on dunk.
my plan was to get strength and def low post to 90. pretty close now with strength, it is as 88. then start with shot low post to around 90.
i would advise you to start a center MP. it's pretty fun. and it is also very easy to get good teammate grades, even without getting any good numbers. just box out, set screens and rebound and you'll get an a+. also if you do, don't be a 7footer, i'm a 6'10 and get 60sp for every block. plus you get a whole lot of + on teammate grade and individual performance SP for alley oops. if you do though, i'd also advise you to be an athletic. cause if not your speed and quickness will be sooooo low. i once had a defensive c and my speed and quickness was down in the 30's. could barely make it through the dribble course in time, that's how slow he was. and it is a lot easier to upgrade the other attributes than speed.Comment

I'm not sure if all of you guys suck or what it is? Maybe you all play on hall of fame but my player is currently rated a 79 with averages of 77.1 ppg 9.3 RPG .4 apg (haha) 4.2 spg 1.8 bpg 31.0 mpg. Fg% .817 3p% .150 ft % .870. He is a 7ft sf for the clippers. Thru 33 games his rookie year already has 569/654 free throws.Comment

77.1 ppg? Dude.... how the hell do you average that every game? I struggle to even average last year's average for me, 28... But then again, I'm a point.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
In the ECF of MyPlayer (Point guard), won the Championship my rookie year and looking to repeat in year 2. I won the MVP both years, putting up averages of 30ppg, 8apg, 5rpg, 3stls per game.
Was drafted by the Jazz, but had a hard time fitting in. Asked to be traded to the Magic since they were interested in me, best decision of my career. I can drive the lane and dump it off to Davis or Howard, both of whom are excellent finishers. It's actually kind of frustrating, Davis rolls/cuts to the basket way more than Howard, who usually just stands about 10ft from the basket. It's also nice to be able to kick it out to either Q/J Richarchson. I hate Hedo Turk, he passes up every open shot and usually makes some stupid play.
I'm 98 ovr, and only need to work on abilities at this point.
My 3 big complaints with this game:
- Need more key games in the playoffs. I had a whole series playing against Rose but only got one key game in the series finale.
- Hate the Draft Bug. It works out okay with me since we should be drafting in the late 20's, but get the 15th pick or so. But it really cheats the realism of the franchise.
- Don't like how expensive it is just to add +1 cap to an attribute. I saved up for half a season just to add +1 to my dunk. At least make the description more direct, I felt it was very misleading. Gonna have to spend almost $10 million to get my attributes to where I want them.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
two questions,
1) is it typical to see the team that drafted you pick up the team option? I really dont want to be stuck another year in HOU
2) is it worth it to upgrade my post abilities (specifically spin) past good or average as a PG? my thinking was the other PG's would not have high low post defense ratings so it'd be a waste of skill points to get them up to great.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
18 games in my 5th season.
Currently averaging: 26 ppg (2nd in NBA, 1st in PG), 1.2 ORPG (3rd in PG), 6.6 RPG (1st in PG), 4.3 APG (I've been working on it, but 24th in PG), 1.8 SPG (7th in PG), 0.5 BPG (3rd in PG), and finally, 3.7 TOPG (Yes, that many. lol first in nba) And I'm shooting 41% from the field, 42% from 3 point land, and 87% from the line.Comment

2. If you want to score a lot, then yes. It's all up to you, and don't forget to increase Fadeaway as well. It is key for some post moves.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
AARRRGGGHHHH!!!
Finished year 2, won my 2nd championship with the Magic.
I was fully prepared for them to accept my option, which they did. But this is the second year in a row where they did not add anyone besides draft picks. Not one single player from FA, no mid-level exceptions or anything.
I'm getting ready to pull a Dwight and demand my way out of there. No wait, I'll play the season out. Well, I don't want to wait. But I don't want the team I'm going to to be gutted when I get there. But I"m getting sick of the Magic not doing anything. We have won 2 championships so I've done my part, but I can't leave this great city and situation behind.
What should I do? Please, no bad advice, I've been given enough of that.Comment
