Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
PG/ATH/Jazz/Rookie/OVR: 82
Been a couple of days since I have posted a update 3 games after my injury going to be quick scores and stats.
45-26 Utah Jazz vs. 49-22 Boston Celtics (1st in the east)
Was a fun game to get going against in a key match up vs. Rajon Rondo. We won 95-85.
Stat Line:
32 Min 25 Pts 3 Reb 10 Ast 8 Stl 2 Blk 3 T.O. 9-12 FG 7-7 FT foul trouble helped limit my turnovers :-D.
46-26 Utah Jazz vs. 37-34 Phoenix Suns (fighting for playoffs)
We dished out revenge from our last game when we lost by 10 as we shut down the 3 ball and won 117-99.
Stat Line: 34 Min 32 Pts 8 Reb 15 Ast 5 Stl 4 T.O. 12-24 FG 8-8 FT
after this game I am pretty sure I maxed out my on-ball defense to 99 it was already pretty high because after my injury i maxed durability and started working on defense.
A player to note in this game is my big man Al Jefferson as he went perfect from the field.
Stat Line:
30 Pts 8 Reb 2 Blk 11-11 FG 8-8 FT
47-26 Utah Jazz vs. 50-22 LA Clippers (1st in the west)
I was hyped for this game in LA to show off against CP3 with my new lay up package (Tony Parker).
Stat Line:
40 Min 67 Pts 10 Reb 12 Ast 12 Stl 11 T.O. 27-46 FG 13-13 FT
I had a career game and all I can say is I was feeling it and decided not to lay off the gas even though I took way too many shots for a PG. The final score was 136-89.
I kept CP3 in foul trouble and he ended with 17 min 8 pts 2 reb 1 ast 2 blk 1 T.O. 4-9 FG 0-1 3pt 5 PF
Update: after the last game I raised my Block to 40 from 35, and my steal to 90 from 80. I think I am at the point that I can wait for abilities now. I have 92 Def IIRCLast edited by phlstar; 03-17-2012, 12:30 AM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I got my PG's Layup to 80 and Pass to 87. I should be able to get it to 90 after my following key game. I will then boost FT to 85, then Shoot in Traffic and Consistency to 85-90.
My career high is 12 pts. I have been able to keep TOs in check due to playing a slower tempo game and using playcallingComment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Is there any way to get a different playbook? I seem to be stuck using the Jazz playbook since they are who drafted me, even though I'm not there anymore. I absolutely hate it. I'm even considering restarting to try to get drafted by the 76ers again just so I can use their playbook once I trade away.
Running plays is how I get assists, but I absolutely cannot stand this playbook."You honestly don't really feel it when the shots are going down. You don't ever get the goose bumps until the fans start to appreciate what you're doing."

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
the problem is that on my player card rebounding is 99. i have a 90 offensive rebound and 91 on defensive. still boykins got a rebound from me.. even steve kerr was surprised he mentioned something like great anticipation by the little man to get that rebound before all the bigger guys.. it was pretty embarrassing. if it was real life it would probably have become a very popular youtube video when a 5'5 guy outrebounds a 6'10 center who's averaging around 10 rpg and is among the best rebounders in the game.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
Well, I have been testing Bedwardsroy19s - Ultimate Roster - http://www.operationsports.com/forum...e-rosters.html for the My Player mode.
The roster has edits to player skills & tendencies and the "cheese" is more realistic and even handed. The post players actually roll towards the basket making it much easier to get assists and avoid TURNOVERS! The "accurate" player movement sticks out from the beginning (no more guessing)!
The spacing on the floor is much better and the defense and offense sets are MUCH better!
No more brick layers launching and hitting 3's! The 3-pt shot is toned down but the mid-range and low post shot FG% is much more realistic giving you better game results whether winning or losing.
I am testing 3 now, PG-Scoring (Pacers), PG-Athletic (Rockets) and PG-All Around (Rockets) and getting the same excellent results.
How am I doing with playing with a 62 Overall again, let's just say its been a challenge!
First off, at 6-0, 183lbs, I am getting my shot blocked quite often. I also found that after completing the 150 career games milestone, I still rely WAY TOO MUCH on speed to get a shot (can't now)!
So, I need to learn to use the "call for pick" and properly use Dribble moves (all- not just hesitation).
Neither the Pacers or Rockets have me all that excited but we have work ahead so does it really matter?
All-Star/Sim. Have not tested Superstar/Sim with this roster, may just do that today. At 10 games apiece I will decide which player to move forward with.Comment

It all depends on which coach you have. For example, if you have Tom Thibedau (how do you spell that? lol), you'll have the Bulls playbook. If you have Erik Spoelstra, you'll have the Heat playbook.Comment

I put all that I could in hustle and it seemed to make a big difference in that little lag your MP gets in certain scenarios.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread
I tried Bedwardroy's Ultimate Roster as well for My Player, just to try it out. I couldn't really get assists, cuz they wouldn't shoot it.
My stats for the first half of the Rookie Showcase are: 12 minutes, 9 points, 1 assist, (I am Pass First, I got an assist from Kyrie for three) 1 steal, 2-4 from the field, and 5-6 from the line.
Thoughts?Comment

Secondly, testing 3, I noticed the Playstyle increases the Difficulty for your primary skill. For example my Scorer must take good shots for them to go down and can get away with shaky defense. On the other hand the All-Around & Athletic get torched on defense but can take any decent shot they want and they drop!
I think my max was 12pts with the Scoring, 5 assists, but the other 2 guards I got like 4-6 pts, 7 & 8 assists, a couple of steal and blocks. None was I able to achieve a A rating!
With all of the performances I really thought we would be drafted in 20s, but, was surprised to go so high in the Draft. The long stat line might of had something to do with it though.
However, I just got 3 games in with it on Sim/Superstar and it still works real well for assists. But, comparing the stats vs. the other Rockets test PG, I am really shying away from Superstar/Sim. Have 2 left but its kinda obvious that there is a 8-10% / 10pt reduction in key skills with the difficulty jump.
For example games where both teams where in the high 40s dropped to high 30s.
On All-Star I am getting around 45% - 43% team shooting which I really like. On Pro/Sim in the past I was getting the 50s every game....which is a bit too Easy for an experienced player, IMHO.
However, what is really on my mind is how this effects overall shooting for the MyPlayer...in some of my Rants I talked about the erratic shooting...and I think at Superstar/Sim you need Consistency to be in the high 90s to get consistent shooting which I feel is a bit outragous!
Steven Jackson for example (streaky) has just a 80 consistency and he can get on a roll and shoot the lights out! Derrick Rose on the other hand @ 95; is not a mid-range shooter, he is a driver so he takes ALOT of contested shots in the paint so he would need the high rate!
Here is a better example:
Consistency - Top PGs
Derrick Rose - 95 ; Rajon Rondo - 80 ; Chris Paul - 80; Deron Williams - 90, Russell Westbrook - 70
Point Guards are supposed to efficient shooters (46%-50%) no matter if they primarily shoot while driving or popping jumpers.
Nate Archibald: http://www.basketball-reference.com/...architi01.html
Jo Jo White: http://www.basketball-reference.com/...whitejo01.html
Magic Johnson: http://www.basketball-reference.com/...johnsma02.html
John Stockton: http://www.basketball-reference.com/...stockjo01.html
Steve Nash: http://www.basketball-reference.com/.../nashst01.html
Derrick Rose: http://www.basketball-reference.com/.../rosede01.html
Nevertheless, what I like about the roster is the balance of cheese! Even at Superstar the 3s have really been toned down. And the defense is tight but the passing lane jumping is more realistic. You don't see Power Forwards jumping wing passes every other possession!!!!
Meanwhile run 5-7 games and see if it changes for you. Will get back on the final results of Superstar/Sim later today.
====
UPDATE: 5 games completed on Superstar/Sim and no real change to my earlier comments. The Rockets in the Western Conference gave me a good look at the 3s, its playable but like I said earlier the FG% reduction and how that is obtained through the "consistency" rating is something I want to avoid.
Shooting 17% in the 1st Quarter and scrambling the rest of the game to raise it to 40% for a PG with other offensive responsibilities is a bit much for me at this point.
However, a skilled player who can utilize all of the "special moves/actions" (controller) may find it a bit more enjoyable.Comment
