    any advice?
The Sixers are a tough assignment for a PG because Jrue Holliday is a high rated player, however, you will eventually start over him (around 20 games).

Key games come from Rival Teams and later Star Matchups, I think in the 1st season it equals 26 games. I play all games because I am greedy for skill points to build my player faster. Now if you just play Key Games you will ONLY earn skill points for Milestones completed.

It's around 60/40 here for all games vs. just key games. I recommend no matter your decision play out the 1st 20 games to get an idea of the how/what/need and don't need of applying skill points. 20 games goes pretty fast because ou do not get a lot of playing time at first.

From my experience here, most ppl that play only key games are very good players. They average more than 4000 points per game. And a few others like to slow down their players overall progression by laying short seasons.

Length of season(key games) mainly depends on Rivalary games. If your team has 3-4 rivals, then that is automatically 12-15 games + Matchups, which will add up to 20+. When I played with Bobcats, they only had 1-2 rivals. So, I only had about 12-15 games total.
That is why I only play key games. I want my players to slowly progress and then over time by a dominant players. Mainly because I wouldnt want to "all of sudden" become a good shooter or defender.
I like to work on certain ratings during a season. Before I start a season, I like to choose what ratings I will boost. So my SFs `st season, I boosted small things that make a difference in offense. 2nd season, offense and defense. 3rd season, I will add other aspects to his games(pass, reb, small things) and abilities.
So, I will try to go to a team, That has 1-2 rivals.

Another game, another 25 point loss. Golden State hit 13/18 from 3. We went 2/14. (Carlos Boozer attempted 3 of them).

They shot 55% from the floor.

        Same old same old...

My player blows up. 20-25 points a game. But it is zero fun if we lose every game. I'd rather score less and win, but when I pass they miss their dang shots.

        Teammate chemistry is at 77.

I just hit a mid range 1st quarter buzz beater with my SF that had to be reviewed. I got passed the ball with 3 .7secs after the oppenents shot. It took me 3 secs to get into to position to shoot. The ball got out of my hand s at 0.1 secs. That stuff was crazy. I am glad I boosted Shot Med.

It's weird, I could swear that triangle is to block, but I never knew a block meant practically belly flopping onto the shooter. 2k must not know the difference, and what's up with out of bounds? I get it that they took the borders off to make it more realistic, but how often is it that a player just walks out of bounds 4 times a game?

We just got blown out by Heat by 67 points. I got in to foul trouble the entire game. Im going to be honest and say last 2 games I played, I gave up most of the game
We are getting blowed out ALOT by good and bad teams. We need to make a change in the lineup. We have to get rid of Ish Smith. Only thing he can do on offense is drive. He doesnt have good awareness because alot of times he takes up 2 defenders and I am WIDE OPEN for a jumper and he waits till the defender realizes Im open to pass it to me.
I got Shot Med to 89 will max at 95. Then Off/Def Awar to max.
I just bought Nash jumper and use his quick release.

Gaming grade is by far more realistic in 2k12 IMHO.... Unless feel you should be a Kobe or Lebron entering the league. I for one want to build my SF up without instant success. Kinda makes MyPlayer pointless to come dominating.

yeah i have noticed its tough to be a sixer, but i like playing here and i dont want to ask for a trade cause i want to stay here, its a young team with potential. so even though its tough at first hopefully it will get better once i become a starter. i play all games myself to build up MP, right now his overall is 64. use most of my sp on strength right now cause its so low, in a game against the warriors i could barely get loose from nate robinson cause strength was like 35. i play 12 minutes games and average around 20-24 minutes a game maybe even more haven't checked. when i play less its cause i get into foul trouble. i try to go for the steal a lot and get called for reaching in often. when i play though its at sg, not pg.

back to key games vs all games. in the schedule the key games are marked yellow or something right? well i've checked my schedule and the only yellow games are against the knicks and celtics. thats 8 games. none against star matchups, but maybe that only happens once ur a starter, not sure.

how many of you have installed the 1.05 patch on ps3? whats it like with all the trades on it? has that been dealt with? dont wanna lose all my teammates if i decide to simulate some games. also i noticed after i installed it we played a game, think it was vs the wolves, and rick adelmans hands were black. not sure if it was him but it was a white coach and his hands were black.

any tips on what i should focus on upgrading? im a scoring pg, and now i use all my sp on strength, steals and shoot in traffic.

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

Beat the Lakers in game 2 of the first round. Noticed how the playoffs weren't key games so I decided to play the next key game which was to close the series out in 6 games in the Staples Center. We ended up winning handily, despite Kobe's 42.

The next key game was to close out the against the Mavericks on my home court. The beginning was incredible seeing all of the fans wearing orange and waving towels. It was a close game throughout. The Mavericks traded Marion and Carter earlier in the season for Deng and I couldn't stop him. Off-ball, he would weave in and out of his teammates for the open shot while I would run into every one of them with 99 def awareness. It was like the opening scene of "Casino Royale": Deng was performing some crazy parqour while I was crashing through drywall.

The fourth quarter came and rage hit. My team and I were turning the ball over everytime down the floor. All of Nash's passes were tipped or he was just sloppy with the ball and I couldn't move. The final straw came when I got the inbound and started heading up court. Nash decided he wanted to have an up-close conversation for awhile and blocked my path, forcing the ball to leave my hands and travel to mid-court where the Mav's picked it up and got an easy fastbreak bucket. At that point, the rage took over. I spammed the steal button with all my might and quickly fouled out.

I do not look forward to game 7.

(still can't dunk) and even though consistency is at 85 my MP is hot and cold like a mother. he just stops hitting. I have no dribble moves so I'm heavily invested in the jumpshot and I wish it would drop more often (shooting 43% through 25 games). Lost two tough games to heat and thunder where MP just couldn't produce. Got like 500sp on a key game.

This game is so addictive! So many great kernels of wisdom dropped today in this thread!
I am about 20 games into my 2nd Season with my PG/ATH/Knicks and the shooting has become extremely frustrating. All of my Shoots are in the (90)s and my Consistency is (95) and even though my slumps are relatively short I am still shooting around 47% from the field despite taking few Bad Shots. And I rarely take more than 15 shots in a game (w Carmelo & Stoudemire its not necessary to get the win).

However, I know what the problem is now, I wish I would have known that Abilities are so important. All of my Shooting Abilities are "Poor" since his play style is Athletic. My Dribble attributes need work also so I can do better moves, at the moment I am "shaking" no one...ok...I can shake a Center....

Fortunately, I pretty much have all of my Attributes at a high level so I can now Save all skill points going forward to correct the problem. But its so frustrating right now.

Yes, addiction is a terrible thing...

Raising those abilities takes a ton of skill points. I'm athletic as well and the only 2 I raised to average was hesitation and crossover. Those two are more than enough to give you much better dribble moves.

Yes, on patch....Adelman's hands are still the wrong color. The over-trading was fixed in the last patch. They RARELY trade now and let stars reach free agency. Yes, key games are marked in Yellow and once you become a Starter the Star matchups begin.

Tidbits: Don't reach for steals until you get your On Ball Def (80+), Def Awareness (70+) and Steal (70+), this will put you out of position OFTEN leaving your man WIDE OPEN, and they rarely miss. If you want to Steal, try intercepting the ball by cutting off the passing lane or pass from top to the low post (when he tries to lob over your head).

                          Starter Plan (1st 30 games)

Physical: Vertical, Quickness, Strength, Hustle...accumulate Speed for now doing Drills - the Dribble Course is your friend (master this drill).
Mental: Consistency, Off & Defensive Awareness (have Off +5 more then Def)
Offense: Mid-Range Shot, Shoot in Traffic, Free Throws, Ball Security, Off Hand Dribbling, Pass
Defense: On Ball Defense, Steal, Low Post Defense

Do not overdue Strength, Hustle and Low Post Defense

My PG/Knicks attribute ratings after his Rookie Season can be found on page 238, its not "perfect" but its a good base. Remember he is an Athletic PG, so don't get blown away by his speed and quickness.

You're reading my mind, and I am only going to upgrade Fadeway and Pullup Jumpers! However, I think I may get greedy and GO FOR IT with the Layup/Dunk and see if I can get some Alley Ooops!

lol late into my first season, very late.

I was thinking about fadeaway for a while but I'm more of a driver and not a shooter. Fadeaway & Pullup are a great start, which reminds me...

It wasn't just crossover and hesitation, I also raised pullup. It kills me how many skill points they cost though.

Those three for me and I'm good, it's all I'll need for now. Yea, definitely go with the 2 you mentioned and let me know how it works out for you.

I dont save up for Abilites until I get a big career milestone + a great key game that can get me over 9000 XP. Then I will start saving up for an ability.
