Re: NBA 2K13 Hands-On Preview From 2K Sports Team Up (vannwolfhawk)
Hey Van, I have a question. When you played the cpu and they passed the ball in the paint, did they finish with the corrected hand so they can avoid the block. I ask this because in 2k12, other in my player or just facing the cpu, they would attempt a lay with the hand closest to the defender and get blocked. I just want to know if its fixed or notComment

Re: NBA 2K13 Hands-On Preview From 2K Sports Team Up (vannwolfhawk)
Great write up Vann...thanks to you and all of the Team Up guys for your opinions and info on the game. I like what i'm hearing from you guys on this build, i'm really interested in playing the game and actually hearing all of your opinions on the final build to see if all this goodness we're being told about to get us excited enough to buy the game is in the retail version and hasn't been taking out. If a lot of things have been taking out and doesn't play as well as what you guys were allowed to play then it was really all for not as far as NBA2k13. Really wish they would have at least given you guys a few minutes each on the build they didn't want you to see.-= Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.=- Edward MurphyComment

Thanks Vann,
just some a questions...is defense fun to' play ala 2k11? I mean challenging but fun....
Also..any chance we'll get player intro back ala Nba 2k1? (with PA announcing the starting 5)...
Finally...will "olympics" be a new game mode? (with teams like Spain or Argentina included..)

Re: NBA 2K13 Hands-On Preview From 2K Sports Team Up (vannwolfhawk)
Again, it needs to be tweaked in the area of on ball defense some more. If they balance it out and take out that auto defensive stance so I can turbo to stay with a guy who is doing the same and then drop into a stance to cut him off along with speeding up defense ughy I would be happy. In real life if a player gets beat he turns and sprints to get back in position and catch up. This did not happen in the half court set. I think 1 part of this as well is when a player gets shook its like he gets stuck for to long if that even makes sense? Lol! It's a feel thing for me that's hard to explain. It just didn't feel as responsive as offense or what I would like to see with defense in the build I played.
So, to answer your question no it was not fun for me. It has potential to be fun though with all the new defensive options. This is my 1 area of serious concern for me personally. I want it to be challenging too. I hated 12's defense! I had fun playing defense in 11. I want to have fun on defense again and at least feel like i have a chance playing on ball defense so i dont have to play off ball! Just take away those bumping animations of 11 and it was pretty good in some cases. But 13 blows it away with what you see when good defense is played and on drives where the offensive player has the defensive player beat. This area is a ginormous improvement and best there is in a basketball game. BUT Defense wins championships! I led my online league with fewest ppg allowed at 84.00 ppg I believe it was in 2k11 (12 min qtrs). Playing defense was fun then! I'm a huge defensive guy in real life too as I put big defensive focus and strategy into my teams team defense.
Anyways, sorry to ramble its just a area of concern for me and one I'm still up in the air about and it's a huge part of the game. If it stayed the way it was on our build I think reviews would be 50/50 as well upon release in this area.
Hope that helps answer the question?! LolLast edited by vannwolfhawk; 08-18-2012, 09:45 AM.Basketball Playbooks

Re: NBA 2K13 Hands-On Preview From 2K Sports Team Up (vannwolfhawk)
^^ did you let the devs know that more control for the defense was needed? Personally I would hate having the guy that I'm controlling automatically go on a defensive stance....that really should be user controlled...Comment

Interesting Vann.
Do you have an opinion on the fact that if you take a shot at the last second it automatically make you take a quick release shot attempt? What happens if you're behind the 3 point line? Does the shot look wierd in any way?Comment

It depends on a lot of factors. It was very well implemented IMO. It does not look bad at all and just adds realism in certain situations.Basketball Playbooks

Re: NBA 2K13 Hands-On Preview From 2K Sports Team Up (vannwolfhawk)
Ok sounds good, was kinda worried about this.
Graphically has it improved a bit? Anything that jumps to the eye? To me the game looks kinda different, might just be the new animations that do it, but coud also be the lightning that gives player models more deptht. Woudn't know how to explain it, and keep in mind I say that only out of the low quality videos we've got. What's your thought on that?Comment
