Re: rspencer86's 2K10 Sliders and Settings

I did "save roster" and not "save sliders". And it saved my coaching tendencies. Might just want to save settings, rosters, sliders, etc. Just to make 100% sure the coaching sliders don't change back since it's a pain to do them, even once.

          rspencer86:

Let me say THANK YOU!!!!!!! I LOVE the way these sliders play. I was getting very frustrated and wondering why I grabbed this game. After two games, I'm loving them.

I played as Philly last night, on the road vs. Golden State. Using my updated rosters (shameless plug) I got 29 with Iggy and Turner had 18 pts. and 7 rebs. Nocioni had 14 pts in 8 minutes off the bench as a 3 pt. marksman. But it was Curry who killed me with 37 and Ellis had 31. David Lee had 14 pts and 13 rebs and Biedrins got a couple baskets late. At one point I trailed by 16 (3rd quarter) but kept chipping away and eventually cut it to 4 with 3 minutes to play. but they jumped out to a 10 point lead with 1:30 left and I ended up losing 113-107. But it never felt better...

Really appreciate your explanation (great video!). Thanks!!

            ^^^^

Really glad you're enjoying them. You sound like me after I first used them. Life altering, huh? Haha.

I put these up to the ultimate test earlier tonight. With the huge free agent signings in Miami, to say the least. I decided to play a couple games as them after spending a few minutes putting everyone on their new teams. So I rolled as them and took on the Celtics in the first game, then took on the Raptors in the second game (random team). I beat the Celtics by 9, fairly close game but I had the lead the entire game with the exception of two or three ties.

The Raptors game, going into it, I knew would be a wash since they don't have Bosh anymore. I wasn't really feeling threatened by Calderon, DeRozan, Turkoglu, Amir Johnson, and Bargnani. As it turned out, I don't know as much as I think I do. The Raptors had a 24-21 lead after the first, were up by 7 at halftime. Up by 4 after the 3rd, Tied at the final buzzer after LeBron made a fadeaway 3 as time expired. I ended up winning by 6 in overtime. But wow, what a game.

The reality is, with this set, any team can compete on any night with any other team. Which is exactly true to life in any sport. That's my favorite thing about these sliders, there are no "gimme" wins. The only thing that I have had to change with these, in now 25 games or so. Is turn HUM "go for on ball steals" down a bit because my AI teammates were a bit too aggressive with that and since HUM steals are at 50, they'd be automatic fouls every single time they reached, often in crucial situations, or when I was losing. Giving the CPU free points all the freakin' time.

Aside from that, I moved HUM rebounding to 50 because no matter what team I used, my guys would let rebounds hit the floor. Doesn't happen all the time, but even if I used say, the Lakers, and went against the Warriors. They would wind up with about 10-15 more rebounds than me per game. It just dumbed them down a bit too much.

And last but not least, I moved the HUM close shot down 1, and inside shot down 1. No matter what the scores of my games, whether it was in a win or loss. My FG% was always better than the CPU. They had very realistic FG% every single game, but sometimes mine was around 60% and even if it means losing a lot more often, that's cool as long as it's in the name of realism. I can't tell you how many times I'd barely scrape out a win and notice had I shot a realistic percentage, I would've lost.

But clearly sliders are very, very subjective. The fact that I've only had to really tweak 3 "sliders", the 4th being a tendency that doesn't have a huge impact on the game, In 25 games, is amazing. The only other thing that I would even consider moving from here on out is HUM block. I get way too many blocks because I understand the timing mechanism that was never really explained in any instruction book that makes me a lock for 10+ blocks every single game.

In summation, 25 games in and I'm still being challenged game in and game out, still losing way more than I ever did before, still loving this game more than ever after going through hell with it and trading it in and buying it back 5 times, and still incredibly appreciative for Ryan Spencers incredible slider set.

is there a roster i can download that already have the coachin profiles updated? or do i have to do every team one by one?

will these sliders work well without them in?

If you can hold off for one more day, I'm adding these into my roster file. I have the sixers through the heat finished (10 down and 20 to go), but I'm getting really sleepy (east coast time). They won't take me long once I can see straight.

Re: rspencer86's 2K10 Sliders and Settings

big pun. They work perfectly fine without the coaching sliders. Go ahead and play a few games. Aside from that, doing them only takes about 10 minutes, it's not that bad. But really they're perfectly fine without them. I only started using them about 10 games ago, so I played 15 great games without them and had no problems. The only reason I put them in was because I needed to see teams that had good post players actually go to the post and dominate. Whenever I played the Magic, D. Howard was getting points, but mostly off tip slams and offensive boards. I don't think he actually posted up more than once. But, other than that one small problem, they're brilliant with or without the coaching sliders. Enjoy.

Finally got a chance to try these sliders out in a Association with the TWolves.

Everything looks good, except i've had to tweak a few things.

                      1. My play style supports 11min quarters instead of 12min.
                      2. My field goal percentage has been a little too high, so i've moved inside shot down 2 and close shot down 1.
                      3. There aren't really enough blocks for either team, but I'm not too sure how to solve this.
                      4. WAY too many shooting fouls. Each team was shooting almost 40 free throws each game. Moved shooting fouls in rules down to 80.

All in all, good work rspencer.

A couple things I don't like about these. I don't like User block at 100. I get enough blocks with it at 50. At 100 you get a lot of rarer animations, but you get them ALL THE TIME. Below average shotblockers end up looking like Alonzo Mourning. It's too easy to go into those 2-man canned block animations with it that high. It's fine for the CPU because they still rarely do it.

Also, with defensive awareness at 0, players ALWAYS jump at pump fakes, doesn't matter who it is.

My shot percentages are also pretty high.

The CPU also tends to try to force their way to the basket, they'll sometimes just get to the paint and dribble around in circles until they get enough space to force one up.

Maybe it's because I use the no-switch defense policy, so I play more off-ball D, but my Bulls finished the year near the bottom of the pack in BPG, so I haven't had a problem with this.

I haven't seen this at all. Actually if you try to abuse pump fake you are going to get ripped a lot since the CPU can steal the ball if you give them the chance.

Re: rspencer86's 2K10 Sliders and Settings

I have yet to see any possible way I can abuse pump fakes without getting the ball stolen.

Still, I'm having a few problems. The blocks thing was figured out but field goal percentage is still a little off. I'm getting field goal percentages around 55%-60% every game and the computer gets 50%-55% every game. While these aren't horribly unrealistic, I'd like it to go down a little. I'm sure playing better defense would be a reasonable way to make the cpu's percentages down, but for user I i've taken each category of shooting down 10 spots on the sliders from where you have them rspencer and I still shoot high percentages.

I really like to play the post and about 60% of all my points generally come from the paint, but I still feel like that shouldn't be a reason for my field goal to be so high.

One other problem is fouls and free throws. Lowering the value of shooting fouls to 80 or 85 solves the problem of the CPU shooting too many foul shots, but I still get too many. I don't really think this is me ABUSING the system, but rather every time I drive the lane the computer seems to initiate contact, so I get a foul shot.

These little quirks are making me play 10 minute quarters because otherwise the scores end up in the 140's.

Either way, rspencer, considering you drafted these sliders I was wondering if you could help me out and tell me what other sliders would be good to turn down to lower my shot percentage a fair level and also make the cpu less willing to foul.

You've subtracted 10 clicks for each of the user sliders and STILL are shooting high %s? That doesn't even seem possible. If you got close to 40 on mid range and 3pt you should hardly ever make them.

As for shooting fouls, the two sliders you could use to reduce human FTA are CPU Commit Foul Tendency (lower) and CPU Defensive Awareness (higher)

I always switch on defense. I don't like using "house rules" when I play sports games, kinda sucks the fun out of it for me. So I still generate a ton of blocks, I might just have to alter for my play style.

Defense jumps 75% of the time for me. Over the majority of the games I've played, the CPU jumps rather than reaches, especially if I pump off of the catch, not necessarily off the dribble.
