Re: rspencer86's 2K10 Sliders and Settings

I made some changes to this sliders, but they are very solid. I lowered the reaching and shooting foul to 70, and did the same thing with the CPU stealing (from 100 to 60, and still getting too many turnovers... so it must be me and my lame transition game). For those who are looking for competitive games, this sliders are for you.

One question: team chemistry affects your game when you're actually playing? (not simulating). I'm playing with the Raptors in Association Mode (hole new team, transfered all the original roster and team chemistry dropped to 0%, 10% tops). I like to simulate 62 games and play 20. I won the first 3 or 4, but then I got the Spurs and lost by 3 points. And then... I got the Mavs. They outscored me in the first two quarters (12 min each) 70 - 32. At the end of the game Jason Terry went for 8/12 from the outside, taking most of the shots in the defenders face. Also, the CPU seems to hit 80% or 90% of their free throws (this happends all the time, not only in this game). I missed everything, and I mean everything. 3s all alone (Rudy Fernandez), shots down the ring (with Bogut) and a lot of layups (Rudy Gay and Stuckey). I couldn't buy any basket, they dominated the boards (+30!!!) and had more than 20 steals. At the end, they won by 52 points making almost everything in the final quarter. Does team chemistry has anything to do with this pathetic performance? The first month it was at 15%, but in December dropped to 0% (before the Mavs game).

PD: I'm very sorry for my english. It's a little rusty. I'm from Argentina by the way.

I know what you mean...i played against Golden State and they finished the game with 78% shooting. Stephon curry didnt miss and i couldnt make anything...I will try what others have suggested about my issue with 3pters and go to practice, but sometimes based off my games, it seems to be hit or miss with trying to get realistic gameplay from the cpu and myself simultaneously.

Re: rspencer86's 2K10 Sliders and Settings

do you guys have any suggestions for lowering the cpu shooting percentage?

i really like the premise of these sliders, but the cpu ALWAYS shoots between 54-62% (or better). I'm powerless because my guys never close out as defenders.

Also, I had an instance where one of my guys kept running around in circles near the half-court line (the announcer asked what he was doing which I found comical).

i understand the concept behind lowering defensive and offensive awareness, but i really think it dumbs down the game.

though i like these sliders, i find them very frustrating. i mean, when larry bird is missing layups (wide open) something is wrong, and i've had so many of those types of things it's pathetic. personally, i think part of it is the stupid game, but i'm getting frustrated by spending tons of time working on rosters, yet never being able to enjoy playing any actual games.

i'm going to consider meth's tweaks, but wasn't sure what others were finding with them. thanks!

Re: rspencer86's 2K10 Sliders and Settings

made a couple tweaks to fit to my liking and it fixed some of the issues for me, maybe it would help others...

-I play at 10 mins and 42 game speed. I play a pretty fast game and 10 min @ 42 works perfect for me.

-Made the human and cpu shooting sliders the same instead of the slightly higher for the cpu. Now both teams shoot even and not the cpu always slightly better.

          - Raised 3 pt to 53 for both human and cpu. I could NOT make 3s at all and the cpu could barely make any.

-Raised hands for both to 35. I was finding there were a lot of missed passes that should be caught. Bosh was dropping nearly 100% of passes when he was trailing the play in transition. The ball would go right through his hands, whooop! Raising it to 35 have helped with that, but still makes you pay for a bad pass.

-Made throw alley oop 0 for both. I don't know what this slider actually does, but there were way too many cpu missed alley oops. I would throw them up every now and then on accident, but that seems to be happening less as well.

I made Layup 75 and Dunk 85 for both hum and and cpu. It seems that in a lot of games, no matter how hard I play, I lose games due to 10 missed layups throughout the coarse of the game. i HATE it. so I raise these sliders and there is maybe 1 missed layup in a game. Highly contested layups don't always go in, but wide open un-contested layups go in every time. There isn'treally a problem with missed dunks for me, before or after the slider change, but I raised it anyways in ratio to layups. I figure, an NBA player with a chance for a dunk is going to make it 9/10 times, unless contested. Thats how it reacts here.

With these tweaks it sometimes makes the FG% a little high for both teams (but even)here and there, but I would rather have both teams shoot 52% than have missed every 3 and 5 layups. Keep in mind, I try to acheave realistic stats, but strive for realistic gameplay first. I don't want teams shooting a realistic 47% if it means Lebron has to miss 3 open layups or Ray Allen bricks 5 wide open 3's. When I watched pre-draft workouts, these rookie will make EVERY shot wide open and uncovered, thats how I think the game should play. Superstars should be deadly, good players should be decent, but bad players will still make an open jump shot.

          Thats how I feel anyways.

Here are some team stats from a game using these sliders and my little tweaks. Everyone is different but these work awesome for me...

If you increase the on ball defense sliders, you and the CPU will get less open shots = lower shooting percentages.

If I'm want to lessen the fouls commited by the CPU, should I just adjust the "Commit Fouls" sliders or do I also have to adjust the "Shooting Foul" and "Reach in Foul" sliders? Which supersedes which?

I would reduce the CPU Commit Fouls slider first. Otherwise the CPU won't be able to get to the line as well.

                  I changed the following sliders:

                  On Ball D - HUM 55/CPU 90
                  Inside shooting - HUM 39
                  Close shooting - HUM 40
                  Layup - HUM 46
                  Shoot 3 tendency - CPU 45

And they play like a dream. Thank you rspencer!

How many clicks should I reduce first? 5 or 10 clicks?

The commit fouls slider isn't quite as touchy as some of the others, so I'd go down 10 clicks to start.

Rspencer what does offensive awareness exactly do? I sometimes noticed that CPU don't pass the ball until shot clock runs out and they take the shot. What I did is I try to jack up the CPU's offensive to 50 and didn't notice this issue anymore but the other things that they do is more of the same. Another thing I noticed is when the CPU gets an offensive rebound, they kick the ball out almost often even if they are wide open inside. Can we do something about this?

I would hereby like to use my precious first post to praise these sliders. I upped the on ball defense for both user and CPU by 10 (Tyreke Evans had way too many open shots while being defended by Brandon Roy) but these sliders are pretty nice. I'll post some stats later on.

                          Thoughts-
                          1. I thought points in the paint were a bit high, but that's probably because Jason Thompson and Carl Landry are bad interior defenders, and Beno Udrih is a bad perimeter defender. All of Andre Miller's 17 points were scored in the paint and at the FT line. Evans gave up some easy buckets with the game on the line to Roy.
                          2. Fast Break Points- I use Rashidi's sliders for 360. I don't follow either one of these teams very closely, but I thought the Kings, with all of their athleticism, should have more fast break points. Then again, Rashidi does things a bit differently.
                          3. There were a couple more blocked jumpshots than I would like. Both of Roy's blocks were on jumpshots.
                          4. Carl Landry played a bunch of minutes at SF, even in crunch time. His natural (only?) position is PF...It gave me a definite advantage. In crunch time, Roy had the ball some feet behind the 3PT line. Both Udrih and Landry left their men to double team Roy. I drove right around Landry. I daresay if Donte Greene or Antoine Wright had been in the game, that probably wouldn't have happened.

I'm pretty happy with everything else... I can live with the points in the paint, that appears to be a programming issue, but there were many times where it felt way too easy to get the ball in the paint. Also, this was a quick game (12 minute quarters) so I put game speed up to 55 in the middle of the second quarter. If I hadn't, I would have scored 120, easily. I also bumped dunk ability up to 40. Players with higher dunk ratings (Batum) wouldn't take the open dunk.

Oh, BTW...my offensive philosophy is to try to get the ball in the paint, and if that isn't there, take the best open shot...the CPU just let me get my first choice in points, lol. I run auto plays all the time, so I run a lot of picks.

My defensive play style is to play center, to help close the paint, unless I feel that a certain opposing player is scoring too easily. Then, I switch on to them.

Great sliders, dude. The best I've played with so far. Game momentum swung back and forth; it was close throughout, as intended. If there's anything I can do to help you out, let me know.

Ok, I tried this sliders, changed them a little bit, but... I'm done with this game. I'm really tired of the "cheesy moments". I missed 10 lay ups in a row (with 65 in layups for user and CPU), 6 of them uncontested, and the AI went for a 18-0 run with Atlanta, without Joe Johnson and Josh Smith (foul trouble). I mean, there's nothing you can do to avoid the defeat, there's to much frustation and very little fun. It doesn't matter wich team you are, when it's decided you just have to go with it and wait for the game to end, trying to make some shots in the process, because the AI won't miss at all. I'm not going to buy any NBA 2K game anymore, unless I hear very good things about one. Thanks for this sliders anyway, they're a solid effort and made this crappy game more fun for a while.

Wow. Literally 10 layups in a row? I've played a few games with these sliders, and I've had some cold moments, but 10 layups? Holy crap. Maybe you should try kicking out to the perimeter.

That's the thing about these sliders. It forces you to change your strategy, because the CPU is definitely going to try and take away your first option. You can't just continuously drive the lane anymore, because the CPU will contest the shots/foul/strip the ball. It makes you take mid-range shots. You also have to spread the ball around, because the CPU will definitely double team your star player, and even your second option, if necessary.
