Re: rspencer86's 2K10 Sliders and Settings

I watch games on CPUvsCPU and am pretty happy with the sliders but defense still bothers me a bit. Especially with "run plays" set really low, players like Granger or Arenas are constantly coming off a screen for a wide open 3 without any defender near to contest.

Could this possibly be linked to Def.Awareness at 0? How important is it to have Off. and Def. at 0 for improved gameplay? Seems like there is no proper pick&roll-defense at all with these settings.

I agree, it seems that defense is non-existent b/c I'm playing as the Lakers and Ron Artest (cpu teammate, usually I play as the PG on defense) isn't shutting anyone down on D. Must be b/c of the def.awareness = 0.

Try bumping it up some and let me know how it works.

Try these out..These r wat I settled on

          Help Defense Strength: 100/100
          Offensive Awareness: 10/10
          Defensive Awareness: 100/100

And to make things more clear...Some ppl say Offensive/Defensive Awareness is how good the CPU assists, but it actually is how EFFECTIVE ur off/def is. With them both at 0, ur defense was not effective at all. Turn it up to max and u will avoid the flunctuating shooting % each game. They will be very consistent. Every game I played the shooting % r around high 30's to high 40's (depending on how good u play defense or shot selection)
          Forget Kobe & LeBron!

I'm worried that if the User's Defensive Awareness is too high, that the cpu superstar players will not look for their shots anymore and will become passive like before I made my sliders like rspencer has. The reason being, i've adjusted my game sliders alot since i got 2k10 and rspencer's sliders turned out great in terms of getting the cpu superstar to score alot more and be more aggressive for their own teams.

If u bump Offensive Awareness to 20 instead of 10 and up their shooting sliders +2 than urs then the CPU superstars will not be slowed down at all.
Just try it out and see wat happens.

These sliders are fantastic....as I was plugging in the numbers, I thought there was no way these would work, but I was wrong.

My only issue is shooting. I've played a few practice quarters against the Lebron/Wade/Bosh Heat, and both times they were unstoppable.\

While I respect that they are goign to be a good team, they were hitting 70-80% of their shots. Anyone toned down the mid-range shooting slider? Or any of the shooting sliders. I'd hate to mess up the delicate balance that these sliders have created.

Great work rspencer! I like the feel of the game using your sliders. Just some problems that I've encountered are the CPU are getting a lot of fouls (on ball steal & shooting foul). On my first game, LBJ was a non factor because of foul trouble and fouled out in the 4th. The rest of the players also got a lot of fouls (4th or 5th fouls). The obvious reason for this is because the commit fouls is at 100. How many clicks should I lower this w/out drastically affecting the slider?

Another problem is I noticed that sometimes the players are passing too much and takes a bad shot since the shot clock will expire. Usually when this happen, CPU takes a long jumper or 3 pt shot. Motion of the players are good when running a play but I also noticed that offensive 3 seconds happen quite often. Would you know the average of offensive 3 seconds in a real nba game? Is there a need to adjust something to make these 2 issues work correct.

I have to play more to study your sliders. However overall you did a fantastic job man! Keep it up and hope you can continue to work on this until 2k11 comes out and the following nba 2k games as well.

Re: rspencer86's 2K10 Sliders and Settings

I kinda like these sliders...my only gripe is that is seems i am not able to hit ANY 3's at all. I am playing with the 2009 hornets roster (CP, Peja, D.West, Okafur) and cannot hit a three for anything. Im running plays for peja to come off screens, even CP or Thornton and cant hit. I want to be able to hit some but not at the expense of feeling like im cheating the cpu.

I did a simulation and went to the draft and scouted 3pt shooters to replace peja...took them to shooting camp and everything, and still cant hit a three. Im hopeful its a slider that i need to tweak.

                    Any tips??

I was exeriencing the CPU reach in fouls problem too...I turned the "reach in foul" CPU slider down to about 75-80 i believe. Still happens too much for my liking but it doesnt happen too much that the star players get into early foul trouble or foul out. Only seems to happen if Im standing still waiting for the play to develop.
I may adjust some more when i get home.

I absolutely love these sliders, this may very well be the best slider set I've tried for any 2K basketball game over the past few years (including both the NBA 2K series as well as College Hoops).

At first it took me some time adjusting in order to get used to them and I think that's why many here are having a few issues/complaints. But once you stick with them and adjust to a smarter style of play (because the CPU nearly forces you to with these sliders), the game really opens up.

The only minor adjustment I made was changing quarters from 12 minutes to 9 minutes for my style of play, other than that... I love them just as they are.

I'm currently 6-3 with the Knicks and have been having some nail biting games, lost my last game to the Hawks 94-93 (lost it in the last 15 seconds) and beat the Jazz the previous game 99-96. As with all my games, minus my blowing out of the Bucks by 20+ points, they are usually very close and entertaining.

Huge props to you rspencer for making a completely unique and truly satisfying slider set.

                          Practice your release in... practice.

I drain 3s with this slider, shooting is quite easy.

I definitely agree, once you get used to this slider set things like this become second nature and allow you a fresh new competitive style of play to which I, and apparently several others here, love.

For anyone that has been turned off in their first few games, I say just stick with it because it's definitely worth it when you finally adjust.

Thanks Cali. I just appreciate that 2K gives you so many sliders to mess around with, and they actually are extremely effective. If you set the layup slider to zero, you will never make a layup. Never.

If you set it to 100, you won't ever miss.

This kind of range gives us the chance to find our sweet spot somewhere inbetween. I've harped on this for years and years, and will continue to do so since other developers (The Show and EA Football games come to mind) don't have their sliders work that way.

No problem bro, I believe in giving credit where credit is due and let's be honest, the fact that 2K does a masterful job of integrating the effectiveness of their sliders, you still did a hell of a job blending all of them together, for what I consider, the perfect mix of effectiveness and realism.

I moved to 7-3 tonight and had a HELLACIOUS game with Golden State and I mean that in every sense of the word. All offense, final score was 133-132 (usually my team averages around 102 points a game) in regulation but that's not even the beauty of it. Corey Maggette hit a little running floater to go up 1 point with only 1.6 seconds left on the clock. I then call a timeout, run a screen and role (think similar to the type Boston runs for Ray Allen) for McGrady (scored 46 points and is currently the second leading scorer in the NBA at 29.9 PPG in my Association) and he hit's it as time expires.

These sliders are allowing me those type of games nearly night in and night out, and I haven't ever been able to experience that out of any sports title especially any that are basketball related.
