    Re: EA's player ratings?

Fluffy I just tested it out and the highest I would go is 50 on Gamespeed which is the DEFAULT setting out of the box on All-Star Level.. The increase in Players speed and Quickness as I mentioned before should make it run a little smoother at DEFAULT but I wouldn't do this on anything but All-Star Level.

I still prefer 40-45 speed it helps settle things down for me but on Super Star I would go no higher than 45 and to be honest on Super Star 40 speed is probably your best bet.

      Re: EA's player ratings?

Cheers PM. I might play it at 50 on Allstar. If Allstar is the level that best captures the edits I should pump up the sliders at Allstar to make the game challenging.

Its a good sign you're losing games on Allstar with the updated slider set. It all bodes well!

        Re: EA's player ratings?

Real quick before my Mavs game come on tv.

I played with the speed at 50 on All-Star Mavs vs 76ers. I completed only 1 qtr with the minutes set to 8.

Still got solid results using the Sixers modified playbook.

I was down 26-23 after one.

AI had 9-pt's and 2-assist on 4/6 shooting from the FG. He made a corner baseline 3 because I sagged off of him.

Webber scored 6-pt's and shot 3/3 from the FG. Dalembert led them with 3 rebounds after the 1st qtr.

Too bad I can't finish Mavs are about to play. Will finish up more teams tonight after the game.

          More solid resutls.

I really like the way its all going. I can easily get past unrealistic attribute levels for PG's SG's and SF's if it means we will get good games happening.

GL with the Mavs. IMO they'll sweep and get rest while Spurs and Kings beat the Shiznit outta each other.

            Re: EA's player ratings?

talk about sweep. hah. poor memphis. too much dirk.
speaking of. dirk should be mvp this year. not nash. or even kobe.
he has been completley overlooked. the man DOMINATED the grizzlies all series. and carried the mavs this season. take dirk out of the mavs and they struggle to get 40 wins. take nash out of the suns and they would struggle to get 30 wins without amare but dirk has a consistently dominant year. kobe is the mvp if u rated it on individual skill. but anyway.

            nogs mvp order.
            1. dirk
            2. nash.
            3. kobe.
            4. lebron.
            5. wade.
billups shouldnt be in the race. he has been the best player on the best team but the pistons would still be dangerous without him. just not league leaders in wins.
same with parker. we all know duncan is an instant title contending player. put TD anywhere and they are immediatley in the playoffs. so while parker has been phenomonal this season. [kj]. its all the attention Duncan gets that allows it. besides he like billups has a lot of help.

hey. i might post my top 10 in each position rated live06 edits......

playmakers, you gave me the motivation to get this game to play right. we have all the tools to bend the game to our will, and its amazing to see the difference.
i thought nbalive06 was rubbish, even after the 2nd time i bought it. but because nba2k6 was delayed yet again. i was forced by my addiction to nbavidgames to buy live06 for the 3rd and make do. now i dont have any desire to play 2k6 as i am enjoying live06 too much.
            thanks for the help playmakers.

just got soundly beaten by the bucks. 105-90
it was a frustrating experience. i was messing around a little with the sliders and I CANT FOUL!! its getting frustrating now. when they drive i want to challenge them hard but the challenges are weak and even when u can plainly see the contact no call is made and my foul sliders are high. if they go too high i can get to the line too much. but i cant foul the cpu on superstar. well i can but not as much as i should be.
redd went off for 32. only hit 1/4 3's. but still went off. the bigs were not utilized as much as i would hope except for magloire who scored 12pts off the bench. but the bigs were at least producing some offense.
ford came out aggresive as but ended with only 7pts 3rebs and 6assists. it felt like he did more.

That's another thing on Super Star Level there is hardly any fouls called compared to All-Star Level.

But right now I'm playing Phoenix and they looking very close to the actual Suns. I edited a few posistions for the Suns to make sure Diaw handles the ball as Nash backup at PG, slid House over to SG and made him the 6th man, switched Thomas to PF and now on the Suns 2nd unit there lineup looks like this below.

                PG-Diaw
                SG-House or Barbosa
                SF-Jones
                PF-Thomas
                C-Grant

I wanted Diaw handling the ball as much as possible and I boosted up his Passing ratings and he's become a distributor off the bench.

I also tweaked their Playbook and they resemble the Suns alot better now. I didn't test this on Super Star only All Star and it's playing brilliant right now for me. I did take Fluffy's advice and kinda bumped up the speed but only to 50 on All-Star. I wouldn't do this on Super Star because 40 seems better on that Level.

I'll post final stats once I'm done. Phoenix is up 41-30 over my Mavs so far in the 2nd qtr.

                    Re: EA's player ratings?

                    The Suns killed me 103-89

Marion was Player of the game with 29-pt's on 11/17 shooting, 1/3 from 3-pt range and 6/6 from the FT Line. He only had 6 rebounds in the game.

Amare had 14-pt's on 5/9 shooting from the FG and 4/4 from the FT Line and grabbed 8 rebounds but he was in foul trouble trying to defend Dirk. Nash had 16-pt's on 7/10 shooting and dished out 6-assist. I was shocked Raja Bell had 8-assist and only shot 6 times all game. Kurt Thomas pulled down 10boards and scored 7-pt's.

Only Dirk went off for me. He had a game high 33-pt's on 12/19 shooting and was 2/5 from 3-pt range. Jason Terry had 13-pt's and 5 assist but shot only 5/16 from the fg for me.

I had 13 Turnovers the Suns had 8

                    They hit 26/28 FT's to my 15/26

                      Re: EA's player ratings?

just played the spurs and was getting soundly flogged and frustrated before making a furious rally in the last 5 mins. i ended up losing 105/99.
parker torched me for 28pts 11/20fgs. he hit 2/4 3's?? its funny. his 3pt attribute is very low yet he still takes them and makes them when open.
ginobli slashed and dashed his way to26 pts missing only 5shots. Duncan was solid with 17pts 8rebs and 3blks at 7/13fgs.
the FT disparity was even as and realistic but i did put them at the line the last minute during my desperated rally. but still. there are plays when fouls were obvious yet the cpu never gets the call.

i will try out allstar again and lower some sliders of mine to compensate.
i have changed the suns lineup to the same as yours playmakers. will see how it fairs.

It's all sounding like there's a bit of decent gameplay going down and bit to be excited about ... Nog, PM, you reckon its good enough for you two to start up a season and play it out?

Heh, I was just thinking. Imagine if EA had have put this kind of time and effort into the game in the production and programming stage with a whole wealth of resourse at their greasy little fingertips ... Man, we'd have a hoops game.

                          Re: EA's player ratings?

i am 1/3 into my season already. and i am getting more and more into it.
i tried allstar against the rockets in my season. adjusted some sliders to compensate.
it was challenging. i was down 60/48 at halftime. tmac went off in the 1st half with 23pts. he ended with 31 as i shut him down in the 2nd and scored 39 pts in the last Q to take the game by 8. ming was in foul trouble all game and ended with 10pts at 4/12fgs. howard had a strong game with 13pts and 10rebs. and the fouls were correct. but...
i was struggling in the 1st half through bad D, when i needed to i turned on the screws and took the game. allstar i find is too easy to penetrate and score inside. its just easier [obviously]. i personally prefer playing on superstar.
i bumped back up to superstar and my next game was against the heat.
again. my d was weak in the 1st half and they led 58-50 at the half. then i stepped up my d intensity and ended up blowing them out in one of my most enjoyable games yet. i outscored them 64-42 in the 2nd half. it was awesome. i just did everything right.
it also helped that wade had a shocker. he only had 12pts at 5/16fgs. it was shaq and mourning that were doing it for the heat. mourning had 16pts and shaq had 18pts and 12rebs while struggling with fouls.
but what was so good was that the heat generally played very realistically. the flow was great. they were just pounding it inside.
IMO the game is more rewarding on superstar and it really is playign great. the fouls were perfect in the heat game too. u got to concentrate on d. stay in front of your man. box out, play patient. i am really enjoying it.
which is great considering it was only over a week ago that i absolutley hated this game.

                            Re: EA's player ratings?

Nogster I don't disagree that it plays smarter on Super-Star and aslong as you can stay focused and not get upset with them (CPU) killing your defense it's beautiful.

I think alot of stuff on Super Star has been toned down alot now by the ratings being reduced but their are guy's as you mentioned since the Level is Super Star they will still take shots and hit shots and then you'll look at their ratings and say WTF!

That is my biggest gripe with Super Star it gives a hidden boost in ratings and I don't know exactly by how much. For instance a guy like Bruce Bowen can have readjusted Offensive Awareness of 5 but on Super Star it feels like he's playing with 25 Awareness again. Guy's with 3-PT ratings of 40 seems like they are actually back up to 60 or something.

But you are correct it does play tougher overall. I also figured out that I'm correct about the gamespeed slider. I figured this out because of the the fatigue rate during games. For instance I played on Gamespeed of 50 with Fatigue Effect at 65 and on 8 minute qtr's both teams start to sub around the 3:30 or 4:00 mark of the 1st qtr depending on a players fatigue ratings.

Now vice versa with gamespeed on 44 same exact settings I didn't see any subs mostly until the 1:30-2:00 mark of the 1st qtr. This tells me the higher you increase the gamespeed slider the faster the players look to play. It might not appear that way on the court but they are programmed to play at a breakneck pace the higher you set that slider which is why they fatigue quicker and the increase in speed was only by 6 points (44-50).

I think that is why EA has the game slowed down right out the box because they wanted to give it an NBA type pace but the problem is they screwed up the speed and quickness ratings of the players so people weren't happy with the way it moved right out the box. To counter that alot of guy's probably jacked up the speed to 80-100 range and all that really did was force the players to get up and down the court much quicker on fast breaks. It didn't really impact the halfcourt game only the fast break rate.

If you increase the speed and quickness of the players by say 20-25 points and leave the game at the DEFAULT Gamespeed setting of 50 you'll see it move better that it did right out the box. Therefore with adjusted speed and quickness even if you play on a lower speed it will still feel better than it did right out the box.

It plays even quicker on Super Star Level at 40 speed then it would at 50 on DEFAULT All-Star and that goes back to a hidden boost in ratings on that level. So if your looking for the smartest and and most challenging gameplay than Super Star is the level. But I like you can't get the game to dispurse fouls evenly between the Human and CPU teams. On All-Star as you can see by my stats fouls are pretty realistic. But on Super Star the game just goes on without any fouls being called. I'm at a lost for this and can't understand why it's happening. I'll mess around with all the foul sliders today Shooting Foul, Reach In and In Air Collision but I've tried all kinds of combinations and nothing seems to work.

                                I'm not done yet.....

I'm going to try and get this baby to perform on it's highest level Super Star where the Players are much smarter and react much quicker to what your doing on offense and defense.

If I can just get those damn Foul Sliders setup correct this game will go to another Level on Super Star. Then I'll be finished and happy until Live 07 comes out.
