btw, Avery is obviously very good (one of the best in the league imo) but this is his SECOND year coaching. He is basically still a rookie in coaching.

Nobody ever said that D'Antoni's system isnt a big reason why Nash has become an MVP twice but thats besides the point. Shaq, Kobe or Jordan all had their biggest sucess in Jackson's triangle and nobody tries to discredit their great seasons of the past.

My point is the reason that Dallas is a better team isnt because Nash left. Its because AJ replaced Don, emphasized D and Dirk went to the next level last year. Who can say that wouldnt have happened if Nash stayed.

Well you asked why his former team got better, and I gave you a couple of factors. As far as the Suns being third best in the West, I don't know what you're talking about, their record is just as good as the Mavs (Mavs have three more wins to this point).

As far as your point about him leaving thus resulting in the Mavs drastic improvement, it's not like the Mavs have a ring, or they're a dynasty all of a sudden.

Magic Johnson won 3 MVPs and he won championships. Nash has not won championships, and yet people are talking about him being at that same elite level that Magic was at? that is crazy

If Nash were on the current Mavs team, assuming meaning no Terry, I would disagree and say they'd be just fine. That's how much I believe in Johnson coaching over Nelly.

and yes, Johnson is obviously one hell of a coach. but again, he is basically still a rookie. This will be Avery's SECOND full year in the league. The team was still growing and changing with Avery for a while.

I doubt the system was the main factor because the Mavs were still adjusting the system on the fly for a while. Dallas got better because they had a more talented team than they had before that can actually play D. btw, Nash would not be suited for the system that Avery wants to run anyway because Nash cannot play defense very well.

To me, MVP is pointless anyways, since Shaq never won every year as a younger player, and MJ never won it three in a row. But I have to say who cares if Nash isn't Magic? He's doing things in his own way and it's producing results, that's the bottomline.

I agree. Shaq probably should have won it every year that he was healthy and his team was a contender, except for the years that Duncan and the Spurs were championship caliber because of Duncan (imo Duncan should be a candidate this year also)

yes, they are a very good team. The Suns are obviously a contender....but Dallas is better than Phoenix, they are a better team now that Nash left, and he is not a "3 time MVP caliber player" imo

i hate nash as much as anyone so i hate speaking about him. i also hate the way everyone says "he makes everyone better " thats not real . if i play with nash im not going to start draining threes.

with that being said as a lakers fan the suns scare me more than any other team in the league . personally i'd much rather face off against dallas in a series than phx . though revenge would be sweet.

to get on point . this thread is just a mavs fan trying to act like dirk gets no props when everyone knows dude is a top candidate.

Your post is so weak, Nash makes the game easier for guys who are already good (making them better). You comparing yourself to an NBA level player is silly. You don't know the game and quite frankly NOONE should ever take anything you say on these boards seriously again!

one game when they were adjusting to Amare and the other by a nice game winner by Dirk. Not huge season changing wins by any means.

Everything to do with coaching. Terry is not a good defender either.


Plus the fact that the Suns are one of the better defensive teams this year proves you wrong again. You need to brush up on the current NBA before spewing homeriffic lines.

Nash's role in D'Antoni's offense is so critical it skews the entire judging process. I hate that, but it is what it is.

NAsh is a better pg than Terry and Harris, but hedoesn't havethe killer instinct that Terry has and Harris is developing. Nash refuses to played defense, especially in the playoffs. The Suns style of play hides that.

Dallas is a better team without Nash, imo. He needs to be in a system like D'Antoni's in Phoenix.
