Chuck is bout to get paid, he could be a quality asset if the Cavs sign him.

Re: Official NBA Offseason/Player Movement Thread

Dude's exactly what that team needs, especially with Shaq in the middle now. He's the perfect guy to clear space for Shaq because he can hit from anywhere (and Shaq is a willing and very skilled passer as long as he's getting lots of touches). He'd help LeBron out a lot too... that would be about the best pickup the Cavs could have at that position due to his versatility. Millsap is probably a better overall player (since he plays defense and rebounds like a beast), but Charlie V fits in much better with their overall plan and provides a lot of versatility. 'Sheed would be a pretty good fit also, but I'd take the younger guy every time, especially since they want to keep LeBron happy and ensure he stays for the next few years at least.

Either way, if that happens, they officially take the top team spot in my mind (pending ORL getting Sheed/Millsap or the Lakers making a substantial pickup). Another year of development for LeBron combined with some actual rest this summer should help him be even crazier next year, they have a good post presence in Shaq who has slimmed down and will probably be motivated, they have Big Z coming off the bench, still have a solid backcourt, and they've got some younger guys like Hickson/Jackson who can come in and play pretty well. My only question is whether their defense will suffer next season, especially if they pick up Charlie. Comparing Charlie defensively to Varejao or even an old-*** Ben Wallace isn't exactly favorable, and their pick and roll defense took a hit with Shaq being in the middle. But they're strong defensively and still have LeBron/Delonte to stick on the premier wings, so I think they'll be okay. The offensive improvement should be enough to make up for whatever loss they have defensively.

Re: Official NBA Offseason/Player Movement Thread

Rod Thorn is planning to get in contact with Charlie V's Agent real soon. Whether it's to actually give him a contract or just to discuss the weather there or whatever, no one knows at this point.

Pairing him and Brook down low would give us our best 4/5 combo in a loooooooooong time and would improve our rebounding a TON. Either way it's going to be an interesting year in Jersey between now and next offseason but it shows that Thorn is VERY serious about getting us back to championship style basketball, something we haven't had since 2002-2004.

Charlie wants to be a Cavalier and everything I've heard from beat writers, people within the organization and writers from around the NBA is that the Cavaliers are interested.

I want this done. I DESPERATELY want Charlie Villanueva, I honestly cannot see a better fit.

PP if you're going to throw money at someone it shouldn't be CV.

Let CLE overpay for him, you really don't need a player like CV.

I'd wait for a better player to throw money at.

As far as CLE goes, wow I agree with what Stumble said.. they're going to be a force on paper just like ORL. There's going to be some stacked teams boy oh boy

Well, from what I also heard is that IF(big if right now)we do offer him a contract, it would have little effect on our cap or what we do in 2010. The move would at least show that we're not 100% committed to just tanking the season for the sake of one or two players next year.

                  And from RealGM:

Lakers, Kings Front Runners To Land Nate?
                  Newsday - 06/29 - 3:55 PM EST (AP Photo)
The Lakers and Kings appear to be the front runners to land guard Nate Robinson, a restricted free agent of the Knicks. Sacramento was reportedly close to swinging a deal that involved Robinson and Jared Jeffries at February's trading deadline, but talks between the Kings and Knicks fell through. It's possible that the two teams could rekindle talks this summer. The Lakers was rumored to have inquired about Robinson after he scored 33 points at the Staples Center in December, and both Kobe Bryant and Jerry Buss gushed about the guard after the mid-December game.

hHHAHAHHAHAHA at the thought of Nate here.

Unless LA is about to trade Farmar and not re-sign Brown or Ariza/Odom there's no way in Hell Nate would end up here.

How the hell does that even make any sense.

Unless it's a sign and trade? Please take some of LA's garbage NY

                          More RealGM Rumors:
Mehmet Okur is "leaning toward opting out" of his contract with the Jazz and could make the decision official as soon as Monday, Okur's agent, Marc Fleisher, said on Sunday. Okur would be opting out of $9 million he is due to make this season in order to become a free agent. The Jazz face opt-out decisions ahead of a Tuesday deadline from Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and Okur. All indications Sunday continued to be that Boozer and Okur would opt out while Korver would not. "I think he's looking to do what will make sense going forward for him," Fleisher said of Okur, "and whether that's with the Jazz or not, it's undecided at this point. We're going to look at all the options before he makes his decision."
