Because this is going to be the "rebuilt" Detroit Pistons...and they are going to be worse than last year.

Well then let the other teams overpay for them. It's pretty simple.

SMH. DET has screwed themselves for the next 4 years. They won't be competing for jack ish.

It isn't like people were expecting them to do anything or competing for anything next year anyway(aside from the usuals: CLE, BOS, LA, ORL)

The Gordon deal might be a bad signing(if it is true)because SG was the least of their problems but I don't see how the CV deal is bad when they had no PF anyway and Dumars went and addressed that position. But i'm not going to say based on those 2 moves that they'll turn into the Sacramento Kings or LA Clippers all of a sudden LOL.

Villanueva makes some sense for them, but Gordon REALLY doesn't unless they're planning to move Stuckey or Rip.

People may not agree but as a fan I want my team to be either

            1. A position to win the title
            2. A position that is ideal for a fast rebuild i.e. not salary strapped to so-so players with long contracts

If I'm a DET fan and my team signs BG and CV to those contracts I would be extremely disappointed. Not only is my team not going to win a title in the next 4 years, my team has made it extremely difficult to blow everything up. My team already has RIP to a bad contract, and now my team is adding 2 more bad contracts?

Can their team even afford a superstar? By looking at their payroll I don't think so.

Who in the eastern conference is going to even compete with Boston/Orlando/Cleveland for the next couple of years anyway?

And as fan, you also should have realistic expectations as well.

I'm sure they know up there that as long as they know Lebron James plays basketball in the East, they ain't winning no ship no time soon but at least they know that they're going to make his road to the Finals a lot tougher.

Again, Gordon and CV were going to get overpaid, "bad" contracts anyway so that was expected but for people to say they won't be **** now because of these 2 signings is overreacting to the fullest. And depending on who they hire as Coach, who knows what they'll do.

This line of thinking makes little sense to me. So because "you cannot compete for the next few years" you think it's acceptable to put yourself out of contention for not only the next few years but for the next 4?

In two years the East will be prime for newcomers. If DET goes through with these two moves they will be disqualified off the bat.

And PP I don't know if you're joking about LBJ playing in the East or not but just look at what I said above.

Then it's settled. BG and CV will make Detroit a lottery team for the next 4 years. Care to tell us if Game 1 of the Finals is in Cleveland next year or in another city?

Yet you're going to say nobody has a chance as long as LBJ is in the East? Were you being serious about that?

Like I said in 2 years the East will be prime for newcomers. BOS will be done.

Miami or Atlanta. Both teams have some intriguing young players, and the Heat will have the money to spend in free agency next year. As long as the Heat retain Wade, they have to be considered a contender in the East.

                            From RealGM:

Yahoo! Sports - 07/01 - 1:23 PM EST (AP Photo)
The Grizzlies are preparing a $40 to $50 million offer for Knicks restricted free agent forward David Lee, according to several league executives. "There's a great deal of interest in him, and a lot of teams are trying to be very creative," his agent, Mark Bartelstein, told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday.
Also, Boston is said to be interested in Anthony Parker and Danny Ainge reportedly flew and visited with Rasheed Wallace and KG was said to be in on the "Get Sheed to Boston" bandwagon.

Almost seems foolish to say, but if Memphis adds David Lee and can gel early, they could be a very surprising team next year.

You also said they were a worse team with these signings. 8th seed in the EASt this year so getting worse puts them in the lottery.

I am with you that I don't totally understand the signings. Personally I think getting young and someone who can score is a good thing, but on the other hand if Joe signs these 2 and that is it for the offseason they are screwed. As a fan I just hope there is more in store than these 2 moves
