Gortat must break you! The rim is scared of Gortat! (I just like saying Gortat, it sounds menacing lol)...btw, Marcin means "warlike" in Polish. That sound exactly like what Dallas needs at center

now, If the Mavericks can maybe use their cap pieces to trade for a good wing, Dallas might be able to do some things this season
You're gonna love Gortat in Dallas. He was probably my favorite Magic player this season. Hustles, is athletic, and takes a good attitude towards the game.

I'd rather have Gortat, but if we could somehow get a S&T deal for Brandon Bass, I wouldn't mind losing him too much.

Thread was unstickied because people kept making fresh threads for different things, and to be honest, I'm not too crazy about an all-encompassing thread. Some moves are simply too big to not have their own thread, etc...

Gortat can definitely catch the ball and dunk it and he will also be able to run with Kidd (if he stays)

              No.

I'm saying they were all drafted by Toronto and all 3 left. Combining the fact that the 3 best players they drafted left, they haven't (to my knowledge) signed any big free agents. This would indicate that Toronto isn't a very desirable destination.

And you must remember, I live in the heart of college basketball country where 1 out of 100 basketball fans actually care about the NBA. Next year is going to be the closest thing to seeing 1980's basketball as we've seen in a while, the last time people around here actually paid attention to the NBA. I'm talking about when teams were really good, not this watered-down product the NBA has become due to a multitude of factors like expansion, players jumping early to the draft, poor fundamentals, officiating, etc.

I know a lot of you weren't old enough to watch Bird, Magic, Jordan, et. al but the NBA product as a whole has gone downhill in the last 15 years. Yes, the top shelf of players (Kobe, LeBron, Duncan, etc.) deserve all the credit in the world and would have been superstars in any era. Their stats are comparable as well. But the gap between the mega stars and role players is wider than it used to be. Last year's Lakers would have been a 5 or 6 seed had they played in the Jordan era. Last year's Cavs were no better than Jordan's Bulls teams of the mid-80's BEFORE Scottie Pippen arrived on board. And they went to the conference finals for crying out loud.

So yes, I'm looking forward to next year, when there were a handful of dominant teams duking it out for the title, teams that go 4 or 5 deep with quality players. Players such as Trevor Ariza, Rafer Alston, Anthony Carter, Jose Juan Barea, Marcin Gortat, Von Wafer, et. al wouldn't have seen the floor back in the glory days...and they were playing mildly relevant roles on their teams in the '09 playoffs. Hell, some team is about to pay millions of dollars for Gortat - he's a poor man's Luc Longley. If that doesn't scream watered-down NBA I don't know what does.

If they sign Gortat, that opens up Damps 10m to go along with stacks 5m, that's 15m they have for a blockbuster trade. Dallas has a lot of useless players making a lot of money next year, Carrol's declining 3.5 this year is also gonna help in the trading field.

                    Yes they would have.

Anthony Carter was the 9th man on Denver, and Gortat was the 10th man on Orlando. There aren't many teams that go 10 deep.

Barea was the 7th guy on a second round playoff team, and Wafer and Rafer were playing because All Star players in front of them were injured.

Ariza's inclusion is baffling. He was playing solid to good defense and was knocking down 48% of his 3 pointers. There probably isn't any team in history that he doesn't see solid minutes on the floor playing like that.

Stack's is more like 8 million, and only 2 of it is guaranteed so a team can buy him out easily. I think the Mavs have something like 20 million in expirings. We will definitely be seeing some trades. What teams are looking to clear space and who do you think Dallas can get?

they wont be able to use Carrol's though because he isnt an expiring

The only guy out of those 3 that Toronto didn't resign is Tmac. Both Vince and CB resigned with Toronto after there rookie contracts expired...so I'm not to sure what your talking about. If your trying to make the point that the Raptors draft players and after that the bounce....your wrong. Simple as that. Vince ask to be traded like 4 years after he RESIGNED with Toronto. CB has played out his contract after he RESIGNED with Toronto (Just like Bron & Wade). The Raps were able to RESIGN Antonio Davis, JYD and Alvin Williams in one summer. The Raps were able to sign Hakeem. The Raptors were able to RESIGN Oakley (after we traded Camby for him). The Raptors were also able to sign Rafer Alston to another contract back in 04. The Raptors were able to sign Hedo (who I'm not to keen on, but he was one of the bigger/biggest free agents this summer). Am I saying that free agents flock to Toronto's door step......no. But I see the word "RESIGN" up there alot. The Raptors are capable of signing free agents & RESIGNING there own players. So, I really dont what your saying ??

What he said and Carter left because we didn't hire Dr. J as a GM. And he and Sam Mitchell never clicked.

He loves the city and still owns a club there.

T-Mac wanted to be the "man".
