Pssh, their med program is WAY better than CA's. If Lamar ever gets a back injury or glaucoma or something, dude will get a QP every 2 months for just the $180 yearly license renewal fee like my brother does haha...

But yeah, he'll stay in LA unless he cares about money more than I think he does.

So I am watching the summer league and the announcer said that the Orlando Magic Asst Coach will be named the new Detriot Pistons coach at a later date.

            edit: guess they were wrong.

Knicks Offer Grant Hill 1-Year Contract

              <!-- By Author Name
-->Playing for Mike D’Antoni again and the mid-level exception might just be enough for Grant Hill at this point in his career: ” The Knicks and Grant Hill are serious about each other. Donnie Walsh and Mike D’Antoni spent nearly all day — and night — with the former All-Star yesterday, culminating with dinner in the city and a offer on the table. The offer was for one year and a portion of the Knicks’ mid-level exception. Hill is permitted to sign as soon as tomorrow, the first day free agents are allowed to sign contracts”

Rockets Use Disabled Player Exception on Ariza
Meaning they can still use the MLE on one or more quality players.
Also means that Yao probably won't play next season. His foot must be really bad
HOUSTON - The Houston Rockets used the NBA Disabled Player Exception to sign free agent forward Trevor Ariza, according to general manager Daryl Morey.

The NBA granted the Disabled Player Exception based on the fact that Yao Ming is not expected to play next season because of his broken left foot.

"As a course of business to give us maximum flexibility, we applied for an injury exception for Yao and it was granted by the league," Morey said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports on Wednesday. "That will allow us to use the Mid-Level Exception to improve the Rockets roster going forward."

By granting the Disabled Player Exception, the NBA is agreeing with the Rockets that it is unlikely that Yao will play during the 2009-2010 season. However, it does not rule out Yao's return. Also, in the unlikely event that Yao does play next season, the Rockets would not be penalized.

The value of the NBA Disabled Player Exception is identical to the Mid-Level Exception. They both begin at approximately $5.8 million per year.

The Rockets chose to use the Disabled Player Exception on Ariza because the NBA only allows it to be used on one player. The Mid-Level Exception can be broken up and used on one or more players.

While Yao is not expected to play next season, he has yet to determine how he will treat his injury going forward.

"I am still considering what course of action is best," Yao said in a statement to FOX 26 Sports issued through his agent John Huizinga.

"Once a decision has been made, I will let people know and I will proceed with the same high level of optimism and dedication that I have had in the past. I look forward to returning to play as soon as my recovery allows."

                    Bulls sign Jannero Pargo

As the Chicago Bulls try to compensate for the offensive loss of Ben Gordon(notes), they have agreed with free agent guard Jannero Pargo(notes) on a one-year deal worth approximately $2 million, a league source said Wednesday afternoon.

Pargo played three seasons for the Bulls (2003-’06) before moving on to New Orleans in 2007-08. He signed a $3.8 million deal with Moscow Dynamo last summer, but played only part of the season in Russia before the franchise’s financial woes caused them to buy out his contract. Pargo finished the season with Olympiakos of Greece.

Pargo averaged eight points a game for the Hornets two years ago as Chris Paul’s(notes) backup.

The Bulls are trying to replace some of the scoring load lost with Gordon departing for a $55 million deal with the Detroit Pistons.

Wow I wonder if they would put Howard at the 2. To be quite honest, he may not be a true 2, but he's still better than any of the other dude's they've had starting there in the past 2-3 seasons.

Stack, great player but age has caught up to him
                            Gerald Green
                            Antoine Wright

                            Kidd
                            Howard
                            Marion
                            Dirk
                            Gortat

That is a fine defensive lineup.

It would give their roster a lot of flexibility

                              PG: Kidd
                              SG: Howard
                              SF: Marion
                              PF: Dirk
                              C : Gortat

                              PG: Kidd
                              SG: JET
                              SF: Howard
                              PF: Marion
                              C : Dirk

I imagine Dallas will throw Toronto money or take back a bad contract. Does it seem though that the main movitivation for Colangelo is trying to do Marion a solid after they had to pull the rug out from under him to sign Turk

Yeah they are doing Marion a favor, even though he rejected the 4 yr 32 million dollar offer.

BC is trying to do Marion a favor as well as his agent Dan Fegan. Fegan's clients will see BC as a good GM who keeps his word.
